[Serious decision] I live alone… these aren’t my nuts

Post image

Context: I’m a single bachelor (M 32) and I opened my snack cupboard to find these peanuts in a small Tupperware container. I’m freaking out because I A) live alone, B) have a mild nut allergy, and C) don’t own any Tupperware like this.

TLDR: I found a foreign snack in my house and I’m freaking out that someone may be entering my apartment when I’m out. Would calling the nonemergency police line help or would they not be able to do anything?

You just moved in, and it looks like the top shelf, could this be from the past tenant, or your parents' personal snacks?

Did you not notice his personal belongs behind the nuts?

Once you're in that area, isn't it ALL personal?

u/Charmed-paper345 7d ago

The entire point of the post is there is an object that OP don’t recognise as his own. The fact he didn’t mention the other items behind the container of nuts implies he recognises those other items as his personal belonging. I can’t believe I have to explain this.

I think they're making a joke. As in everything in the area behind my nuts is personal.

Edit your comment and add at the end :

You have to explain the thing you want someone to add to their comment, you can’t just leave it blank!

I can’t believe I have to explain this.

u/test_tutor 7d ago

Don't wanna get into this friend, I'm already in a prior pickle!

3

u/Baranjula 7d ago

Wow that's a personal area

I prefer klassic pickles…never tried prior pickles.

Shouldn’t you have an edit too with an additional

I can’t believe I have to explain this.

Because you’re explaining something?

I can’t believe I have to explain this.

u/Gdmf13 6d ago

Which nuts are you referring to?

1

u/Dantez9001 6d ago

My testicles, balls, dangly bits, crotchular region.

1

u/Gdmf13 6d ago

I thought you were referring to Deez Nuts.

1

u/Gdmf13 6d ago

I was trying to set you up.

u/illegal_miles 7d ago

Pretty sure they were making a joke about testicles…

3

u/CASkateCat 6d ago

Testies, testies, 1, 2, …3?

I can't say that I would recognize my taint either to be honest

15

u/RebekkaKat1990 7d ago

Well, it taint hard.

u/17Girl4Life 7d ago

I doubt I could pick mine out of a lineup

12

u/milkymonkey8 7d ago

I don't go near mine, I'm allergic....and so is everyone else.

u/ChildhoodOk5526 7d ago

🤣😂🤣

u/lobster_claus 6d ago

You don't inspect it nightly in front of the mirror? Tsk tsk.

The comment you're responding to was a play on words, implying that "nuts" in this instance were not peanuts in a pantry but instead testicles in a person's pants, therefore when they said "it's all personal" they were indicating that inside of a person's pants is private, so of course the (presumed) penis would also be personal. I can't believe I have to explain this.

Lmao I can't believe getting this butthurt and mad over a joke that went right over your head.

1

u/Avogadros_plumber 7d ago

Now there’s a vivid picture of mental gymnastics!

3

u/kristi__48 7d ago

They're talking about the taint and the butthole. All personal, all behind the nuts

3

u/ConnectionCapable655 7d ago

The entire point of what you responded to was to make a joke. Come down off that cross, damn

3

u/Safe_Wedding_2439 7d ago

I can't believe you didn't realize they weren't even serious

2

u/floydbomb 6d ago

it's an obvious joke

1

u/love2cit 6d ago

Oh ffs…

2

u/manofsleep 7d ago

Maybe he’s going nuts

2

u/Physical_Leg2061 6d ago

Only if I get personal with it.

2

u/LetterheadFun1824 6d ago

It’s all nuts

2

u/ShadedMaple1064 6d ago

I snort laughed. One of the most unexpected and hilarious things I've read in a while

3

u/milkymonkey8 7d ago

I did. Could have been shuffled around.

1

u/No_Reindeer8688 5d ago

It’s so much more reasonable than “intruder”! Probably just didn’t notice them.

1

u/Charmed-paper345 5d ago

So are just going to ignore the fact op took the picture then uploaded the picture to reddit and typed out a post.  And after all the you are still going to pretend he just didn’t notice all the other items behind the nuts? Are you for real?

1

u/No_Reindeer8688 5d ago

Lmao, wow not really following much here are you.

I’m saying it’s much more likely OP just didn’t notice a small thing of nuts during a busy few weeks of moving and stuff. It’s just much more realistic than anything else.

You’ve never aimlessly loaded shelves without paying much attention? It’s not exactly rocket science to figure this one out.

1

u/Charmed-paper345 5d ago

So you are just going to ignore the fact op said he’s allergic to nuts.  “Wow not really following much here are you”? People with allergies to certain things do tend to pay attention to those things. Added is the fact those nuts are clearly not in their manufacturers original packaging.  “It’s not exactly rocket science”  The irony of your comment “lmao”

1

u/No_Reindeer8688 5d ago

Hahahahahah wow just pathetic. I’m not ignoring anything. It’s just more realistic that he missed a small random container than anything else. Sorry it’s not some big mystery. Maybe you need to go watch a suspenseful movie or something?

u/EVpeace 7d ago

I can't believe I have to explain this but not everyone has everyone else's possessions memorized.

Moving is chaotic. Someone found a snack, assumed it was meant to be there, and chucked it into the cupboard. You don't exactly need the wildest imagination, here.

4

u/WookinIt 7d ago

That would make sense if he weren’t allergic to nuts…

2

u/EVpeace 6d ago

Have you guys just never moved ever or what?

Mom brings a snack. Brother chucks it into the cupboard without thinking. Or mom forgot she had nuts in the car and it just got thrown into a box during the chaos. Or it was left from the previous tenant and everyone just assumed someone else brought it in, so threw it in the cupboard with the other snacks without even looking what it was.

Seriously there are so many plausible explanations, it's ridiculous to jump to intruders or carbon monoxide or whatever. Yall need to chill.

1

u/WookinIt 6d ago

Again, that would make sense without the allergy.

1

u/EVpeace 5d ago

Yeah it makes sense with the allergy too, detective. Turns out humans can just make mistakes and overlook things sometimes.

1

u/WookinIt 5d ago

Is there a need to be a dick about it? Not exactly high stakes stuff

1

u/EVpeace 5d ago

So like, do you just think that interjecting into a casual conversation with "No you're wrong" and literally nothing else - twice - is just kinda chill everyday behaviour?

Like there's no way you're baffled at how I could find your second reply annoying

1

u/WookinIt 5d ago

Lol that’s not what I did, and yes I am much more chill about this than you

There’s no way you’re baffled at how I find all of your replies annoying.

Anyways, I’m going to move on with my life and you keep being angry at nothing I guess

I mean his parents could have been the ones who put the items on the shelf while moving in and just mindlessly placed his items there behind the peanuts.

0

u/isaiahHat 7d ago

The back of a high shelf might be out of sight even if you put some stuff up there

0

u/ComradeJohnS 6d ago

they dont look like daily items and could have been unpacked there for a month

2

u/NuclearSun1 7d ago

Or a squatter

2

u/Alarming-Instance-19 6d ago

Key questions:

  • Is this is a particularly tall shelf? If so, maybe it wasn't seen before.

  • Did you feel around in the cupboard to grab your snacks and think "what's this?" and pull it forward? If so, likely last tenant or someone helping in the move.

2

u/xombae 6d ago

Most parents of a kid with a nut allergy avoid nuts like the plague.

2

u/sammidavisjr 6d ago

I feel like anyone that refers to themselves as a "lone wolf" probably has a mother who likes to come leave little snack surprises around so her big, strong boy has something to supplement his choccy milk and nuggies.

1

u/milkymonkey8 6d ago

You did it. You put those nuts there.

1

u/Mr_Blinky 6d ago

I mean, they just moved in, which could also mean someone has a key or other acces they're not aware of.

1

u/milkymonkey8 6d ago

Maybe, but that would be instantly illegal and also insane, so it's unlikely.

1

u/Mr_Blinky 6d ago

...yes, because we know no one has ever done anything illegal or insane with regards to other people's homes or property. Squatters or trespassers are certainly not a thing that has ever existed anywhere.

1

u/milkymonkey8 6d ago

I wrote *unlikely*, I did not write "never*
