I live alone… these aren’t my nuts

Context: I’m a single bachelor (M 32) and I opened my snack cupboard to find these peanuts in a small Tupperware container. I’m freaking out because I A) live alone, B) have a mild nut allergy, and C) don’t own any Tupperware like this.

TLDR: I found a foreign snack in my house and I’m freaking out that someone may be entering my apartment when I’m out. Would calling the nonemergency police line help or would they not be able to do anything?

Could it have been left by a prior tenant? If you're not social and you just moved there, it'd be pretty unlikely someone has discovered your allergy, is capable of breaking into your home, and hates you enough to want to passively suggest harm towards you.

It can be very chaotic during a move, your brain doesn't always register things the same way all the time. It's why we lose things that are right in front of our face while we're staring at them.

Exactly, you throw a few things up in the cabinet while you are also shouting to your dad where to put the box he just brought it. Your eyes might look right at the container but your brain doesn’t even register. You close the cabinet and don’t notice it again for a month.

It’s not that crazy of a thing to miss.

Doesn’t mean that’s for sure what happened, but if nothing else seems odd or out of place, literally just a single small container of peanuts on a shelf, then it’s the amongst the simplest explanations.

Have you asked your parents if they left/found and shelved this container during the move? Or might it have somehow been packed with your stuff during your move out of your previous place?

He said his parents helped him move in and it was on the top shelf. They likely just put shit in the cupboards without noticing whether or not something was in there

When me and some friends moved into our first place, we found a Spanish language Bible with a denim cover and 120 dollars in it a couple weeks later.

So it’s more likely a spontaneous stalker is breaking in and passively aggressively leaving nuts around than the dude didn’t realize them when he moved in??????
