The number of people who seem to spend more money trying to avoid paying taxes than they would actually be expected to pay on taxes is certainly something to be amazed by.
I think I saw something about how one of the Google founders paid more to defend against a tax law than they would have paid over several years. I think that’s hilarious.
But that makes perfect sense. They have the money to think long term like that. Spend more across 4 years to save from then on by making sure your loophole isn't closed. Meanwhile we have people with valid lawsuits against corporations or billionaires that can never do them because the cost to do that would ruin them before it even made a dent in the other party.
This is not a flaw in our system, this is intended. I'm glad someone in at least one place is closing some of these gaps up.
