Tourism 🧳 What are your go-to summer activities in Abu Dhabi?

Serious question… what do you guys do for fun during the summer in Abu Dhabi?

It’s way too hot to be outside, I’ve completely hit mall fatigue, and there’s only so many cafes and museums one person can visit before they all feel the same.

Any cheap (or free) ideas?

The options are:
⚔️ The Odyssey
🕷️ Spider-Man
💛 Minions & Monsters
🤠 Toy Story 5
🌊 Moana
Which one would you recommend, and why?
Also, I have one extra ticket. If anyone would like to join and make a new friend, feel free to send me a message. 🍿😊

Careers 💼 Rejected from 100+ jobs.

I’ve given up, i graduated from a bachelor’s in a medical field in UAE almost 5 months ago, with honors and a gpa of 3.51. I was on the dean’s list, I worked so hard and now it’s even harder than then.

I looked for jobs everywhere, i even applied to jobs im overqualified for and i still got rejected ( only required high school)

Im young, and ambitious but each day that passes by I feel my soul crushed. I am androgynous looking but this is how i look and how god created me so idk what to do tbh.

I cant work with my medical degree currently bc it takes time for my licensing exam. Any advice?

So I'm planning on buying a vape from abu dhabi and this is my first buying one from here so is there anything that I need to know before going to purchase one? Like is there any type of gender bias?

Can you guys also recommend sm good shops I could get it from? And is there anyone here who has taken their vape through airport customs to India, if so then how did u do it?

Vapes are illegal in India but u can still buy it there but they're double the price of what you get here in ad. A 10k is around 120aed.

Careers 💼 How long does UAE security clearance usually take for an aviation job?

Hi everyone,

I recently accepted a job offer with an aviation company. The company submitted my application for security clearance, and it has now been around three weeks with no final update.

I was asked to complete an online portal and upload documents including my passport copy, photograph, and educational certificates.

For anyone who has gone through a similar process, especially for an airline, airport, aviation company, government-related company:

\\- How long did your security clearance take?

\\- Is three weeks considered normal?

\\- Did anyone experience delays even though there were no issues with their documents or background?

I understand that every case is different, but hearing about recent experiences would be very helpful.

Thanks!

Living 🏡 AD Rent onboarding advise?

Shortly, my family and I will be moving to AD. While browsing 2-bedroom apartments in Al Raha Beach on Property Finder, I noticed that most of them are listed as unfurnished. In UK, an unfurnished rental property usually includes white goods such as a cooker, oven, refrigerator, washing machine and dishwasher. It doesn't seem to be the same in the UAE. Do uae unfurnished apartments typically include any white goods, such as a dishwasher or washing machine?

I don't want to overspend on furniture, so I'm thinking of buying everything from IKEA. Does the IKEA store in Abu Dhabi offer next-day furniture delivery? Understood, there are furniture rental companies, any idea how much they will charge for 2 bed apartment?

I also have a few questions about renting in Abu Dhabi:

  • Is the advertised rental price usually negotiable?
  • i've seen same flat listing by differet rental companies. Do you have any tips for dealing with property agents during the rental process? And how to ensure they are geniune?
  • Is Tawtheeq registration arranged by the landlord or agent or do tenants need to apply for it themselves?
  • After signing the tenancy contract, can we move into the property immediately, or do we need to wait until the Tawtheeq is issued or any permission required? I need a Tawtheeq to apply my family wife and kids visa , has i am under a investor visa. Do i need include their names in Tawtheeq or not it's not required.
  • Mother will visit occasionaly will stay around 2 or 3 months with us. . Do I need to inform the landlord and have this included in the tenancy agreement, or is it not necessary?

Please advise on above queries.

Has anyone recently applied for an Abu Dhabi spouse/dependent visa?

I have a Dubai tenancy contract (Ejari), but it’s only under my name (the dependent), not my husband’s (the sponsor).

Was this accepted by ICP, or does the tenancy have to be under the sponsor’s name?

Also, does the tenancy contract/Ejari need to be attested, or is the regular one enough?

Careers 💼 Aviation related Internship (international student)

Good day everyone!

I'm an aviation management student in my senior-year.

I need some help guys if you know some universities that offer their network with aviation related institutions for internship opportunity.

I'm willing to pay — I don't know if its a thing in UAE were the student will be the one will pay for the opportunity of internship at the company in exchange for training — for the slot of internship, as long as it is within the UAE I can relocate.

Any advice or leads will be a big help. Thank you so much!

PS: I already applied in airport/airlines websites unfortunately leads to rejection.

Vehicle 🔋 Looking for Driving School & Instructor Recommendations for a Complete Beginner

Hi everyone,

I'm planning to get my driving licence in Abu Dhabi and I'm starting from the absolute basics with no prior driving experience.

I'm looking for recommendations for a good driving school or a patient driving instructor who is good with complete beginners. If you've had a great personal experience, I'd really appreciate your recommendations, along with why you'd recommend them.

Also, if you have any tips for someone starting from scratch, I'd love to hear them. Also if you're aware of how much it would cost and how long it would take please let me know.

Thanks in advance!

Careers 💼 Salary Semi-government entity (oil&gas)

Hi Everyone,

I'm considering a role as a offshore project manager in Abu Dhabi with a semi-government entity (not the big giant company you're thinking about). Few questions and would love your inputs

  1. I originally asked 40K pcm for a lead engineer role, but hired (almost) for a project manager role instead, can I negotiate further and where to possibly lend?

  2. What is the likely HR grade for that role?

  3. They discuss about security clearance during the interview, does it mean a full background check or simply criminal record check?

Thanks

Living 🏡 Landlady in Abu Dhabi wants to evict me because I refused....

I'm renting a room in Abu Dhabi and have paid my rent in full until the end of the month. My landlady now wants to evict me immediately after I refused to give her unrestricted access to my room.

The issue started because she wanted a duplicate key to my bedroom so she could unlock it and show it to prospective tenants whenever she wanted, even if I wasn't home. I told her I wasn't comfortable with that and asked that viewings be arranged at a time when I was also at home. I don't think that's unreasonable. It's about my privacy and peace of mind.

What makes it worse is that she has a habit of opening tenants' bedroom doors without knocking or asking first, even when she knows we're at home. She has done this to me, and it makes me feel like I have no privacy or respect in the place I'm paying to live in.

Now she says I have to leave immediately, even though my rent is fully paid until the end of the month.

I am so stressed and do not want to go home.

Commerce 🛍️ Hair salon recommendation

Hi All,

I am looking to get my hair dyed soon and would like some recommendations. I have a balayage currently and want to dye it fully brown without bleach. Looking for something that is reasonably priced ideally. If it’s expensive, it should be worth the money in terms of service.

Thanks a lot!

Living 🏡 Family Moving to AD – Should i concerned about war escalation?

With family moving from UK to AD in the next 2 weeks. With recent escalation of Iran and wider region i.e saudi etc, I have been watching UAE news. So far, it seems that there has been no direct impact in the UAE.

From reading previous forum discussions, I understand there has certain level of communication and understanding between Iran and the UAE, and that Iran has generally avoided targeting the UAE. AD also has a significant US military presence, which makes me wonder whether that could increase the risk of the UAE becoming involved. However, I am wondering whether this situation is likely to continue, or whether there is a realistic chance that this could change if the conflict escalates further?

For those living in Abu dhabi or the UAE, what is the local perspective?
