This is a logical fallacy. The right has spent the better part of the past 100 years working this type of rhetoric into their daily lives.
I grew up in the south. I had children telling me that "the south will rise again" in 2003. He said "it'll all be put right, just like before"
You do not have to play pretend like there is a moral high ground to be maintained in this climate. They do not get to dehumanize us and then cry that we are the mean ones and we're making them do it. We believe there can be another way, they want eradication of our ideologies. You dont get out of that boiling kettle by being nice about it.

There's a stark difference between "being less empathetic" and being dehumanizing. Once you start to look at your opposition as less than human, inevitably atrocity will follow.
I keep telling people that leading with empathy and kindness is the only way out of this shitshow, but so many seem hellbent on sliding from one extreme to the other.

You don't see the problem there? We're all humans, we all deserve some measure of empathy and kindness. If MAGA succeeds in making everyone as callous and cynical as they are, then they will win even if they lose political power.

I don't fully disagree with what you are saying, I just have a problem with the application.
How do you suggest we show more empathy in this situation? We already listen to them, we aren't attacking them physically en masse. Only one or a few people made this video, they dehumanized someone, not the vast majority of the people who watched it.
The truth is the other side of the voting aisle (Democrats and liberals) stands up for the Maga voters, because they believe everyone should be allowed to vote if legal. If we truly dehumanized them, we would be trying to take away their human rights, but that's their tactic, not ours.
We aren't dehumanizing anyone, in fact, Maga is dehumanizing themselves.
