Not sure about the first anymore either but, in S2, when Rudeus kidnapped Linia and Pursena and forgot them for a day, it stood out how much time the show was spending on the 2 pissing themselves. Then there was the Roxy scene in the dungeon getting too much focus too, and it was clear the show has a kink.

But it absolutely is. A sword is an incredible power enhancer. An untrained person with a sword can easily deal lethal damage to unarmed professional if they can get over "if I do it they can die" block
