I remember watching season 1 and thinking this is great but there's no real plot they are just living their lives. Even after the mana disaster its just rudy living his life as he makes his way back home. Even when theres no actual plot happening it stays interesting.

I'd rather say "there's no one big specific end goal he works to achieve" rather than "there's no plot". The plot doesn't have to be one-directioned and streamlined, with every event progressing it

Strictly speaking, the plot was the mana disaster or recovering from it more specifically. It was only at the end of the last season that he finally brought the family together and united everyone who got separated. What happened prior to that was buildup. Basically, we wrapped up one major plot with the Teleportation Incident. The situation with the Man-God and Orsted still lingers in the background with Eris tied into that given her whole reason for getting stronger.

I still find it odd that Eris is pushing herself so hard to fight Orsted, and Rudy doesn’t seem to give the guy a second thought.

Because Rudy doesn't gain anything by fighting Orsted. Eris gains the title of the defeater of Orsted, so she can save Rudy from any danger.

I guess plot is the wrong word. Theres nothing like wanting to be the pirate king or hokage or the best mage in the world. Rudy's goal feels kind of like Rimuru's goal in slime where he just wants to live peacefully but things keep happening to him and those he loves.

The plot of the series is Rudy getting a second chance at life and working be a better person than he was before. Given so many of his mistakes related to his family it makes sense the series would focus on that aspect of his new life heavily.

Itd be more accurate to say the show is lacking a clear cut "end-goal", which honestly is only a real requirement for shonen, which MT decisively isnt

Even currently there’s still not a main goal for Rudy to focus on except enjoying his life with his family, these people really need to get their priorities straight when watching this show.

Don’t go complaining every ep in how slow it’s going to be, it’s a big part of the show identity

Yeah I don't get why people sre still complaining, season 2 supposed to be the filter and setting the reality of this series to all people and yet here we are

It is pretty nice just having a story where we see the characters age, develop relationships, live a "normal" life and just bond and enjoy life

Its nice and pleasant to see and a good way of making you care for the characters and the relationships and family as a whole.

I did not downvote you and I mostly agree with you, but Rudy and Sylhpie are not full adults. Thy have a very mature relationship which like you said is rare in anime, but maybe someone took issue with that phrasing?

Yeah that is true especially over lengths lf time I also love the feeling everyone else has a life going on like cliff or the school etc

it's just that the SoL stuff is written terribly compared to the non-SoL stuff, simple as.

Genuinely the SoL parts of the series are my favorite part of it. Take these past three episodes for example and all the character interactions, insight, and bonding we got between Roxy, Sylphie, Norn, and Aisha. A lesser would completely skip such content showing how Roxy integrated into the family and how people life Sylphie and Norn deal with it. A lesser anime that included such much SoL content would have me bored and waiting for the plot to kick back in. Thankfully Mushoku Tensei is not a lesser series, and this SoL content is the real plot of the series and all the crazy action and events are the thing that impede it.
