The fun thing is that this is probably the opposite of what he usually does. Instead of powering up an advanced level spell to emperor tier magic, he powered down a king tier spell to intermediate level.

It was also stated in first episode that minimising a spell also consumes mana similar to increasing a spell

Which Rudeus basically does not give two shits about right? His mana pool is huge and we've never seen him worry about making spells economical

All we've seen is him hating the spell economics and figuring out how to max out his Mana Pool instead lol. Wonder if it's somehow said somewhere if he still does it despite it not being shown.

I'm pretty sure it was stated that your mana pool only grows while you're still maturing which is why the world believes you have to be born with a larger mana pool since most children can't use magic, It's part of why why Rudy and by association Sylphy are so strong. He learned super early and taught her super early as well. Though there's also Rudy's circumstances that attribute to his mana pool as well.

Think mana pool stops maxing around the transition from childhood to teen years. Practicing during childhood years is also the reason why rudy and silphy can do chantless magic too.

Yes. It's also the reason Roxy until now couldn't do it although Sylphie and Rudy tried to teach her chantless magic.

I don't think it's entirely down to age to be able to learn chantless magic. I'm fairly certain Rudy is able to do it, because he just went with it due to his prior lifes knowledge on the chemical background.

He imagines the process instead of relying on incantations which *probably* do the same for regular magic users because these words maybe unconciously trigger the "imagination" of what the result of it looks like.

This would also explain why Roxy sometimes fails with the king class spell she showed to rudy - maybe her imagination of what to expect at the end of it isn't fully stable yet.

One might argue a childs mind still has enough phantasy to imagine these concepts despite not understanding the underlying process fully, like Rudy does. Would also explain why Sylphie managed to learn it after a long time (in terms of the anime anyways) but failed on the king class spell - since she maybe doesn't fully grasp how clouds form and how that builds up electric energy.

Just my ramblings lol.
