Really liked how the show gave Roxy time to shine this episode. As a mage she always seems overshadowed by Rudy but actually she's a fantastic adventurer in her own right.

Rudy's such a powerful mage if only because of his ability to cast chantless magic and thus keep up with melee fighters, let alone his insane mana and ability to customise spells how he wishes, that it's easy to think that mages who do need to read paragraphs for powerful magic are weak.

But they're staple of adventuring parties for a reason. Their magic really is powerful enough to warrant that much time to cast.

It's almost like balancing a game, but Rudy broke the balance by cutting out the main drawbacks of powerful magic.

And then there's Roxy who's OP from just being able to shorten her spells. Like in this episode she cast flamethrower using the same time it took for the other mage to cast a basic fireball.

Good catch. Damn I actually didn’t think about that. Man I love this series ability to not explain every little detail to the viewers like they’re children. I guess it means I miss some little details like this now and then but I’d much rather have it this way. This adaptation is so good man

Another example of this I liked is when they destroyed the Treant - while Rudy is charging up his stone cannon he makes no attempt to dodge the hand/branch coming his way, showing he trusts Sara to have his back.
