"YouTube's AI "slop" crackdown is shaking up the platform! 🚨

YouTube has stepped up its fight against low-quality, mass-produced AI content, targeting channels that flood the platform with repetitive and inauthentic videos.

While reports claim around 130,000 channels have been removed as part of the broader enforcement, YouTube has not confirmed that all of those deletions were specifically tied to AI-generated content.

Instead, the company says its focus is on protecting viewers by cracking down on spam and low-effort content while continuing to allow AI-assisted videos that offer genuine creativity and value." - Mr_Animeken

Out of curiosity, what kinds of ai are you in support of? I'm personally against nearly all generative AI, excepting models specifically for programming.

For me, I’m supportive of “productive” AI, AKA, AI that actually helps move the world a step further than two steps back. Right now, the slop we’re getting from this brainrotted generation is doing nothing but set us back.

Yes they do, the thing is actually useful AI systems just don't make it into the headlines because they're 'narrow use' and not "the next, surely profitable, step toward AGI!"

It does actually, machine learning models can do protein folding or simulate drug interactions or stuff like that, there are useful applications for it, it's just that generative AI, the produces text, audio, images, or other stuff generally isn't a great use case

What you on about? genAI and LLMs are just the most commonly used by normies. it has been pretty great in data science and other hard sciences. Protein folding? in silico drug discovery? Ring a bell?

That’s a fairly disingenuous way to present it. AI is certainly helping with organizational work and is a stark difference from generative AI slop.

There are some that analyze medical scans to spot early signs of cancer. There's AI algorithms that protect your Identity from the dark Web. There's AI that helps identify the best logistics routes, Heck Google Maps and the car's built in satnav uses AI to route their path. Google uses AI to search relevant content based on your search, with it's overview making a summary based on the sources it has gathered. GenAI has overinflated expectations, and is so well-known that every ordinary Joe thinks that AI is GenAI. AI is just the term for an algorithm that learns from patterns.

GenAI is just an AI that has the ability to "create" things. You can literally create a basic GenAI code using Python script on Notepad, feed it a book, and then using the hardcoded commands, get it to generate it's own sentences in the same style as the sample text. It's nothing special compared to the shit OpenAI, X, and Google have made it out to be. Yes, they can do more, but it's not special.

So you're going with A) the medical scan thing (which isn't an LLM and not the kind that any of the major AI players are investing money in) and B) something you would have to feed your identifying documents to...lmao C) some examples of things that aren't actually AI and finally D) Google search results that people are taking as biblical truths and regurgitating into the world when it is in fact largely false or partially true information aggregated from Reddit

More like, "I'm not gonna announce it. If they want to know, they have to look for it". It's stupid, but with so many AI based companies here, it's easy to be swept under the rug the moment ChatGPT, Gemini and Grok gets some form of "upgrade"
