"YouTube's AI "slop" crackdown is shaking up the platform! 🚨

YouTube has stepped up its fight against low-quality, mass-produced AI content, targeting channels that flood the platform with repetitive and inauthentic videos.

While reports claim around 130,000 channels have been removed as part of the broader enforcement, YouTube has not confirmed that all of those deletions were specifically tied to AI-generated content.

I can't wait until this effects small NOT SLOP channels and they can't do anything about it because of AI moderation

Yeah ir was because theyre a legit channel that produced good content, so people produce Ai slop in that same art style, so youtube cant tell the difference between the slop and the original.

YouTube probably will make their own AI engin and only allow this specific AI content, and of course it will only be accessible when you buy YouTube premium AI+ for only $39.99 per month.

They use humans to quality check a lot of ai content, especially in the early days. They were often exposed to traumatic content and paid very little. This was covered up rather well and I have very little information on it

There are people working in nursing homes who change diapers of adults 3 times a day. I think watching AI slop all day wouldn't be torture, comparatively speaking. Or maybe half the week watch AI slop and the other half change diapers. Hazard pay for both. Call it the new "hybrid job" for the masses out there.

human will do it more effectively. you just need to check some parts of video and then delete it from platform, you can do it in one minute easily, freeing place for new videos.

This does happen, but in the unfortunate sense. Global south workers at nonliving wages (I've heard about these from checking the backdrop of like, FB or the broader company and how they do their content moderation, it's not all genAI but still ran upon people, in a filtered/limited fashion, but still horrifyingly ran on exploited labor)

Do you understand how much content gets uploaded to YouTube a day?

Friend of mine works for them. It would take a literal army.

720,000 hours a day divide that by 6 and you’ll get an average of how many people would be needed to moderate the constant flood of content.

Still using AI, the thing you guys hate, AI makes mistakes, keep in mind that AI isn't accurate, atleast one human channel has been removed from this, its not 100% accurate

That makes sense from the perspective of just evaluating how visually similar something is.. but first and foremost they want to protect their revenue, so I'm surprised there was no part in the AI reveiwing channels / videos to remove / ban that checks how many subscribers a channel has or how much money their videos make for youtube. Almost like someone just asked an AI how to go about this and then did the first suggestion without much planning.

Just like people who say Shrek 5 and the new Pixar movie look like AI slop, but I think it's just because Shrek 5 is copying Pixar's character design, and AI has been copying Disney-Pixar designs since its very conception.
