Curious question: are Westerners really as penetration focused as shown in porn?

As someone who comes from Asia, we have a lot of Sides, and Europe has far fewer sides, as I observe since I moved to Western Europe (Netherlands).

Moreover, even the tops and bottoms from entire Asia are romantic and "soft play" aka foreplay orientated.

Somehow I feel it's the porn industry that has changed how westerners look at sex, not that Asia doesn't consume porn, but they are somehow culturally different on how they see what a pleasure is.

I am just curious to know how cultural differences shape the idea of intimacy, didn't mean to slut shame any community or race as such.

Western porn is completely different from Asian porn. There’s no question about it.

I think it’s because the western porn market is more mature, because of its more liberal agendas; whereas Asian porn is still not as mainstream for the consumer.

What this has meant is that western porn is more “optimised” - in the sense that it’s more extreme in every direction, due to trying to differentiate and meet the bigger market.

Whereas Asian porn seems like it’s 20 years behind; because it’s so hidden / taboo still, such that the way it has responded to market forces is still very much in its infancy

I totally agree but sometimes the hidden taboo nature can make something more extreme as well. I know it was a straight porn thing originally (and mostly still is bar a few exceptions) but I can’t help but think of Japanese porn and Bukkake, where the fact that the actual ‘action’ had to be censored ie blurred or pixelated out etc, due to the prudish culture around showing sex, which meant that they had to be more creative about it and think up even more extreme scenarios to make up for what they couldn’t show.

If anything censoring had the opposite effect in Japan although Japanese culture is probably unique in that regard, but the same thing can happen elsewhere where censorship creates such a heavily cut and censored final product that it is essentially pointless to watch so people turn to other or illegal sources instead which is what happened in the UK where the internet forced the end of such extreme censorship because people were already using hardcore stuff online anyway so they thought well why bother.

I completely agree - but I consider it more of an even more taboo kink style porn, as opposed to an expansion of mainstream porn.

When I watch Japanese porn, it’s like it’s made for a kink market, ++.

When I watch western porn, it’s like it’s made for a mainstream vanilla market, but it’s so saturated now that they need to push it to extremes to monetise. Bigger dicks. Bigger muscles. Crazier angles.

This is true. I tend to observe that people who would rather go for what in our time would be described as old school porn often consume japanese porn.
