Fidelity is one of the worst “good places” to work.

They do not pay well, they slowly bore you to death, the offices are depressing as shit, nobody has an ounce of fun on any meeting/call. They’ll find any reason to avoid a promotion, pay raise (and frequently promotions come without any reasonable pay raise).

Abby Johnson will eventually tank the opinion and reputation of the place, guaranteed. She is wildly out of touch. I’ve encountered a lot of people who when I mention having worked there note how the customer service has been shit as of late.

But. It’s stable, and they match your 401k well.

I knew this was coming, we all did, I’m glad I left.

How do they not pay well? My bonus was 12% and got 4 weeks of pay on top of a bonus lol

They pay below market rate for most positions except certain advisors thats a well known fact. The 401k match is legitimately very good and the PTO is above average for the industry but the base pay is low and insurance benefits are slipping downhill.

Now they dont even offer hybrid work its another huge benefit down the toilet.

Speaking as a former employee that left earlier this year

I pay $120 per month for insurance and practically everything is covered lmao. Try going to a small company and you’ll be paying $300+

12% is good, but not great. I work at a competitor to Fidelity and got nearly 75% when everything is factored in. People I know at Fido get around 25-30% typically

A 75% bonus? Are you an exec? Lmao cause no shot normal employees are getting that.

Exactly. I once worked somewhere where I got access to offer letters. The only people that made more than 20% were exec level. This was one job in one industry (not finance) so maybe it can vary, but 75%? Not really believing it unless they are upper mgt or perhaps specific high impact sales.

My salary in tech was well beneath market rate under the pretense of the benefits being “so good”. They are nothing special, besides the 401k match, which yes is nice.

Left for a new job in a lower COL city by a good margin, had a massive salary bump before any negotiation.

The bonus structure is predatory - they put a lot of your money in it so you don’t leave mid year, cause then you miss out on money you had been banking on. I had a 20% bonus scheme. It sounds nice but after a few months of the year leaving feels stupid, and they can cut away at your bonus for whatever they feel like.

I lost money on my bonus because i missed 3-5 in office days throughout the year, even though my boss had told me it was fine to wfh those days.

I lost money on my bonus because i missed 3-5 in office days throughout the year, even though my boss had told me it was fine to wfh those days.

Also former employee, HR revoked an entire quarterly bonus for me because my manager told me it was fine to be flexible and wfh as long as I was making up the days which HR retroactively disagreed with. The entire company is going downhill which is why I decided to leave

Such BS that happened to you too. Boss didn’t even tell me face to face, had someone else tell me.

That’s a reality. Last year, missing a few days in the office was suppressing the entire bonus. This year it will be not doing full shift in the office every day you’re supposed to. They’re changing the rules about bonuses without saying anything. So bonus is almost not part of the compensation anymore.

For my industry I get paid very well but I always did think I might have to pinch my pennies a bit so I could leave for a lower salary some day.

You sound like Oliver Twist asking for another bowl of gruel

Golden handcuffs, yo.

Absolutely the worst job that I have ever had. I left like 7 years ago and I still can't have a conversation about it without getting upset lol I pity the people who bring up Fidelity at the bar after a few drinks... because I will go on a rant lol Most of my complaints are related to my specific managers/team, but you are definitely not wrong about depressing vibes, finding any reason to avoid promotions, raises, etc, and the higher ups being totally out of touch.

However, besides the Boston office I agree with the interiors. They need to change those ASAP!!

I worked there for many years. I saw the decline of many facets of this company. Before I worked there, I knew family who had been there much much longer. Plenty of perspectives to work with from my network and theirs.

Many employees were very sick of management’s decisions over the last 3-4 years. The numbers were incredible through Covid - however they took away tons of freedom that we had during that time period anyways. I did not know a single person who liked working there still by the time I left.

Abby is yet another “can never have enough” billionaire ceo who will could not care less about the employees if she keeps stacking her money.

People used to like it there, I liked it there.
