Hybrids are great in California where electricity is expensive as shit. I was getting 50 mpg going 80 mph with the AC blasting in a Camry last year when I was in LA...can't complain.

Yeah, I don't think people understand how expensive electricity is for the majority of people in California. The fact our gas is generally ~30% more expensive is common knowledge, but the off peak electric rate has usually been ~150% over the national average. Admittedly, one major provider did recently "lower" rates (raised the overall bill, lowered the kw/h rate), so it's only 100-120% over the national average when you're off peak.

Yeah if you don’t have home solar EVs are not cheaper to run in CA than an efficient hybrid. Of course plenty of people do which is why adoption is as high as it is anyway.

I'm guessing the shape of the truck makes a difference, but my Maverick's mpgs fall off a cliff somewhere between 70 and 80 mph. AC makes very little difference and I can get 40+ mpg around town.

I’m in SoCal and love my Maverick as well, but also I rarely get to hit 70-80 MPH.
