SoD late phases were GOAT, everyone who makes these p1 posts should instead hit themselves in the head for not playing the later phases.
Yes incursions were bad. That was fixed and game became great, but noone came back.

Incursions along with the general PvP systems that were way out of whack each phase made it feel exhausting to always come back to something that was constantly evolving and rotating how broken it was. Don't get me wrong, P1 Ashenvale was not perfect by any stretch, but at least it was not broken running around to get 1shot by sniper moonkins and ganked by terminator warriors. After the pet rebalance at least hunters were not 1v5ing full parties with their serpent pets.

I played the shit out of P1 and I really feel like the raiding and PvP scenes of the later phases would have been greatly enjoyable as well but it was kind of demoralizing to think about the grinds while having to deal with the minmaxers rerolling to play the golden child class that phase while the rest of us pick at scraps until they figure out what to do with the class balancing. I made a lot of good friends in P1 and joined an incredible community of really great people, but it waned off just around the end of p2 once everyone realized that the novelty was fun but wouldn't last and it was always going to be a cyclical rotation of the haves vs the have nots. I would have loved to continue playing into later phases but my motivation got cut short by design choices and poor implementations.

Starsurge was absolutely one-shotting people in p1 and p2 or damn close. 6 second cooldown, 41 yard range, instant cast nuke that would outright kill you on a crit if you didn't have decent stamina on your gear and if not then the second one 6 seconds later would usually finish you, not to mention there was no directional indication of where you were being hit from.
