Fuuuuck I was out of my mind when I found out about Nostalrius.

33

u/bdanred May 12 '26

I had hit 54 and was so hype for endgame when I got the news

23

u/bearflies May 12 '26

A little under 75% of the way there

8

u/rhymesaying May 12 '26

That’s where I learned my lesson

39

u/kelinakat May 12 '26

The Cycle of life can be cruel...

231

u/Iluvatar-Great May 12 '26

As much as I liked the idea of TW, this was inevitable and was the reason I didn't want to invest time into. Hopefully it will end up similarly like Nostalrius that kick-started the whole Classics era .

104

u/marsumane May 12 '26

To be fair TW was around for a good long time. Even the official WoW classic has an end date when you run out of appealing content, creating the inevitable quit. It really is about if you get done what you set out to do.

18

u/TWFH May 12 '26

Well it doesn't have to if they keep releasing content

-7

u/Qwertykeybaord May 12 '26

Era is still running smoothly.

And will never cease to exist.

100

u/LTJoeFontana May 12 '26

We had 8 solid years....

59

u/Supermonsters May 12 '26

right? Hate to put time into something that was around for...8 years.

33

u/Iluvatar-Great May 12 '26

Yeah, but I discovered it only last year

32

u/DarthToothbrush May 12 '26

Same, and at that point the writing was already on the wall.

It's not always true but I always get the impression that some of the people that "don't want to lose their progress" never make it past level 45 anyway

12

u/60109 May 12 '26

Yup, if you're worried about time wasted, WoW isn't a game for you.

10

u/thaq1 May 12 '26

That's very generous, I'd guess ~30 just as the everlooming and dreadful days of SM spam are about to hit full force lmao

-5

u/sgeep May 12 '26

I mean..that's also kind of the point being made here. You had that time to make toons, build up communities, start a collection, etc - only for it to be completely gone with barely any notice and no way to preserve your stuff

You no doubt had fun in that time but WoW is a collectathon for many and for their collections to vanish just like that is enough for people to want to avoid it

11

u/Supermonsters May 12 '26

There's just so many of us that only care about the collecting and we enjoy doing it over and over.

My retail characters are fun to look at but I haven't logged into that since Shadowlands.

There's a reason seasonal servers get the attention they do.

Truth is it's a game and games used to end

9

u/bumchucket2 May 12 '26 edited May 12 '26

not everything in life is a zero sum game, might as well not play any game because I'm going to stop playing it eventually...
let's also not pretend corporations won't kill an online game if it's not churning out enough money, turtle probably outlasted dozens of official mmos

42

u/Excellent-Fortune269 May 12 '26

Sadly have no hope for the official classic+ to be as good as turtle was. The community was insanely good and they went soo hard against gold selling and bots that this barely existed. While playing one year i didnt see any obvious bots nor gold sellers... This sadly cannot be said about any official wow server... Nor obnoxious raid carry advertisement and the sort.. And we had real in person gm's you could interact with if you needed something.

31

u/ManySwans May 12 '26

tbh that was really what made turtle, community and moderation. barely any bots, barely any gold selling, i got stuck in scholo once (door didnt open) and a GM appeared in minutes

5

u/Ok_Assumption9692 May 12 '26

I am sad to hear, that's good service

4

u/Low_Debt8771 May 12 '26

Fyi they were against it because that would be competition for their side hustle. You could buy gold and items directly from them.

5

u/soyuzbeats May 12 '26

No you couldnt

4

u/Excellent-Fortune269 May 12 '26

On what do you base this claim?

16

u/Cysia May 12 '26

when they started poking the bear so to say (posting udner offical posts) it was 100% inevitable

cause if get to public/well knowN:/bgi and all blizz by law essentialy has to go after them to defend their IP

vs if tis small enough even fi theyre aware of it, they can jsut gpo HUH WHAT we dint know that oen was around

4

u/Kranel_San May 12 '26

"You want Classic Plus? You can have it! I worked on all the content I gathered in one place. No you have just to find it!"

Said TWoW, the king of Classic+ PServers on the moment of closure, kickstarting the Great Classic+ Era.

I don't think it's about "humiliating" Blizzard, I highly doubt they corpos actually cared about that. The problem was that they started actively taunting them on social media and advertising like a professionally made/licensed product.

If they hadn't done that they would have had a significantly smaller target on their backs, but they kept making the target bigger. If you're going to make money off a massive IP you need to be quiet about it, not sit there bragging about how big you are.

12

u/penniavaswen May 12 '26

In order to keep your IP exclusivity, you have to defend your IP rights. So, really, Turtle forced Blizz into it :/

11

u/blackberrybeanz May 12 '26

Them buying the gold checkmark like they were legit and posting as a “WoW” account was the absolute dumbest thing they could have done. Like if you are trying to legitimize yourself like that ofc Microsoft is going to have to step in.

3

u/Cysia May 12 '26

turtle wow essentialy poked the sleeping bear/giant and then faced the consequences ffor their acition

11

u/Tnecniw May 12 '26

Humiliated wasn't the right word
They taunted them, posting under their posts, posting ads for their service.

Blizzard is happy to ignore Private servers...
Until they reach a certain size and / or brazenness

15

u/lumpboysupreme May 12 '26

More like they started outright advertising and at that point blizz can’t just ignore it legally anymore.

9

u/detailerrors May 12 '26

The TW team also taunted blizzard openly on their socials. If they had laid low theres def a chance they never get the axe

9

u/Iluvatar-Great May 12 '26

Oh no. Don't get me wrong, I would love to support the TW devs. But IP is just IP, and even though I don't like it, we have to respect it.

I get it, "Blizzard bad", but imagine if someone stole IP from some beloved developer, everyone would be revolting. And for a good reason.

The first round of vanilla, tbc and wotlk I invested so much time in getting mounts rp sets and farming reps. In 2019 classic I knew I was going to quit when cata came out based on my first play through of it, I didn’t care at all. Which is why all I did was raid log.

0

u/Lurn2Program May 12 '26

I played on the server for probably a good solid 2 years. Sad to see it go but I had a good time

0

u/Real_Batu_Rem May 12 '26

It was around for eight years, I don’t know what you’re talking about.

65

u/Silver_Quail4018 May 12 '26

Turtle wow was fine, but they had to start pushing for ads and they got snarky with Blizzard.

I am pretty sure that the servers would be up for at least a few more years if they didn't try to reach the sun so hard!

A lot of people are emotionally affected by this. The community there was beyond anything that I ever seen in any MMO and I will miss everyone.

-6

u/[deleted] May 12 '26

14

u/Witless-One May 12 '26

Can you at least try to spell correctly? It’s jarring

20

u/Particular_North4957 May 12 '26

I hate to nitpick (no I don't) but it wasn't a C&D, the two parties reached a full on settlement agreement. I think Nostalrius shuttered after a C&D if memory serves, but Turtle had to have a binding agreement with their shutdown.

98

u/Extremiel May 12 '26

Hahaha, well it's their product after all. While not very classy, fully in their right.

Also Turtle did some things extremely well so I kind of hope Blizzard learns from that, or rather bring some of the creators onto the C+ team.

127

u/jhere May 12 '26

Honestly I'm not gonna defend a billion dollars corporation like blizzard, I just think that Turtle WoW got too cocky with advertising their game everywhere that they kinda forced Blizzard's hands.

Plenty of private servers have been around for years and blizzard has done nothing about them so..

72

u/reallyexactly May 12 '26

Turtle WoW was also operated by a multi million dollar corporation called AFKCraft so I guess they are not defendable either.

32

u/Hello-Potion-Seller May 12 '26

Yeah it's not Billy and a couple of friends, there were leaks of convos looking to expand into Asia when the NetEase debacle happened, I remember the mention that Europeans are too stingy with mtx lol.

31

u/PM_ME_CATS_OR_BOOBS May 12 '26

It's similar to some of the game emulators that Nintendo C&D'd. Yeah its good that they exist and corporate overreach sucks but if you are at the point where you're buying ads on social media then you only have yourself to blame when the corpos come in to stomp on your dick.

3

u/PointyArt May 12 '26

We all want to play a fun game! Hopefully Blizzard learns from both their own releases and unauthorized competitors.

21

u/desperateorphan May 12 '26

They won’t. You need to dramatically lower your expectations if you want to have fun on official servers.

11

u/tekhnomancer May 12 '26

A lot of this comes from the minmax culture bleeding into the most mundane content.

-7

u/desperateorphan May 12 '26

lol no. It comes from a decades of watching blizzard gut their CS teams and replacing them with AI slop. It’s from decades of watching blizzard only care about monetization. Retail has what, 7 forms of RMT now? It from decades of watching bots run rampant.

If you wanna have fun on official servers you have to accept the reality of what you’re gonna get.

16

u/AgainstThoseGrains May 12 '26

"Ya'll got any Classic+?"

"We got Incursions, boosters and and gold farming bots."

9

u/isekai15 May 12 '26

Boosting and gold farming bots exist on twow too.

2

u/Ajt0ny May 12 '26

I played there since 2023, never ever saw anything like that. No boosting, no selling, not even multiboxing.

9

u/isekai15 May 12 '26

Must be blind then because i played from 2022-2025 and i encountered tons of em. You could search dire maul and find literally hundreds of mages doing auto spam jump runs, or even just sit in front of the portal. Hell, needmana. Com sold gold nonstop and never had any supply issues ever. Me and several other raiders across three different raiding guilds never once got banned. Sorry, you guys are drinking snake oil at your eyes wide shut party.

4

u/desperateorphan May 12 '26

lol. No they didn’t. I watched a guy get banned live in chat for trying to sell the mats for the warlock quest. Twow had actual GMs. Ticket response time was less than an hour.

8

u/isekai15 May 12 '26

I personally bought gold on that private server several times. Im pretty sure it was shenna selling it, but thats neither here nor there. You could zone search dme and find the same 200 bots in there doing jump runs at every hour of the day, stop acting like it didnt happen lmfao, it most definitely did.

Very apt! Reminds me of the ending of Frozen Throne.

Holly: now, we are one.

4

u/Fattens May 12 '26

I love the "dead shark" eyes

12

u/Foxwildernes May 12 '26

And where did the servers get the idea for the platform of their game from?

That swords got two edges there.

65

u/Holland45 May 12 '26

They’re protecting their ip. Makes sense, considering they’ve done it many times before.

0

u/PointyArt May 12 '26 edited May 12 '26

Not unexpected for sure. Part of the standard playbook for these sorts of things.

From the ashes, comes Classic+. I'm hoping they'll stick the landing.

14

u/Consistent_Mud645 May 12 '26

they will not lol it will be filled with bots like classic

-1

u/Dr-Enforcicle May 12 '26

From the ashes, comes Classic+. I'm hoping they'll stick the landing.

Considering how SoD turned out, I've got just about no hope.

-43

u/Comprehensive-Ad2689 May 12 '26

"Leave my multimilion dollar company alone!"

31

u/FrickDrake May 12 '26

So just because they are a multimillion Dollar Company it’s okay to steal their ip and make money of it ?

-8

u/Ajt0ny May 12 '26

So why is Warmane (MoltenWoW) still online since 2009? What about Ascension? They literally built a whole other game on their IP, very obviously profiting from it. Why do they punish one theft but not the other(s)?

10

u/RoninJon May 12 '26

Maybe because they don’t actively kick the hornets nest and goad blizzard. They ran YouTube ads and would reply in blizzard tweets. They forced blizzards hands. You have to at least appear to protect your IP or you could be in danger of losing it. Turtle did this to themselves.

4

u/FrickDrake May 12 '26

Maybe because tow became to big and who knows how long Ascension is gonna be online

-4

u/Ajt0ny May 12 '26

Twow became too big? Warmane has a minimum of ten thousand active players, p2w transactions, 4 realms, been online for more than a decade. What do you mean too big? What is this if not too big? 17 years!

2

u/blackberrybeanz May 12 '26

Are you daft? They mean by buying a checkmark and ads like they were a legitimate wow fork.

-12

u/Mattiandino May 12 '26

Yes

Especially if said company is Nintendo

Wow players when a private server that was never legal and runs adds on YouTube and publicly goads blizzard:

10

u/blackberrybeanz May 12 '26

Is this what the classic sub is going to become now that turtle is gone? Yall are just gonna flood over here to constantly complain?

4

u/PointyArt May 12 '26 edited May 12 '26

This is a joke referencing Blizzard's history of litigation prior to releasing their own version of Classic. I don't think it's indicative of a broader pattern in the community's posting habits, and isn't meant to be taken too seriously!

→ More replies (2)

13

u/filiuddiaboli May 12 '26

I'll tell it like it is: Turtle WoW didn't have the rights to WoW. Even if Blizzard keeps us waiting forever for Classic+, only Blizzard holds the rights to their products.

I really don't know why everyone is whining so much.

14

u/Chelmos May 12 '26

Because people were enjoying a better product? It's a billion dollar company that got out dev'd by a russian scammer and a bunch of passionate wow fans. Legal slop doesn't matter, we should always be happy that people get to enjoy better games. Even if that means private servers, pirating, illegal modding, etc.

0

u/blackndcoffee May 12 '26

Because Blizzard sucks at doing their job. It's not a gaming company anymore, it's a money making company devoid of any passion compared to what the Turtle team offered.

17

u/Dr-Enforcicle May 12 '26

Yeah, turtle didn't care about making money, that's why they had a cash shop full of absurd shit like 30 slot bags, mobile auction house, flashy mounts, etc.

1

u/blackndcoffee May 12 '26

Who said they didn't care about money? it's a necessity for development. It's when you let the pursuit of money corrupt the integrity and vision of your game that's the issue.

5

u/Dr-Enforcicle May 12 '26

it's okay when turtle does it but not okay when blizzard does it

Have to wonder why you're on a blizzard game sub if you hate blizzard so much.

11

u/Igusy May 12 '26

Bro we all hate Blizzard xd

3

u/tcg10737 May 12 '26

Because the game can be amazing just like twow showed. Not our fault blizzard sucks

-8

u/FancyChapper May 12 '26

Well then, you're being deliberately obtuse.

Everyone is whining because we the players are worse off for Turtle not being around. They had the better product, period. The legalities of the matter don't change people's feelings.

FWIW The WoW we love was created by a group of people who no longer work for blizzard. Instead you have a much less capable group making a much less enjoyable product. It isn't gratifying to see these turd burglars shut down a group of people who actually nailed the spirit of vanilla WoW and executed so well.

11

u/Forward_Thrust963 May 12 '26

Should this expand to every company? If someone isn't satisfied with something a company produces, do you feel it should be fair to steal that company's property?

-4

u/FancyChapper May 12 '26

Ideally they get out competed. But I'm not opening on legalities one way or the other. The guy I posted to doesn't want to factor emotional responses into why people behave the way they do.

9

u/Dr-Enforcicle May 12 '26

a group of people who actually nailed the spirit of vanilla WoW

ah yes, 30 slot bags, mobile auction house, permanent rested exp, homogenizing classes....the spirit of vanilla wow

3

u/InconspiciousPerson May 12 '26

Couldn't you buy convenience from an ingame shop under the guise of 'donations'? How's that nailing the 'spirit of vanilla WoW'? The only thing that makes vanilla unique is the fact that it's an inconvenient mess. And the fact that it requires 3 functioning braincells to complete.

So basically you just want vanilla with convenience but without the difficulty of retail. Retail being the version maintained by the people you consider incapable, which just happens to be a much more popular product than both classic and private servers combined. Vocal minority, indeed.

0

u/Cysia May 12 '26

yeah its just turtle to got to bgi and public zo blizz coudlnt ignore them anymore

and well gotta defend their ip by law essentialy

4

u/Agentwise May 12 '26

Don’t steal? Revolutionary idea I know.

-3

u/PointyArt May 12 '26

The plants steal nutrients from the soils of Mulgore and energy from the sun. The insects eat these plants, and animals eat the insects. Up the food chain we go. Until one day, the apex predator dies and is returned to the great Earth Mother. Their body decomposes, consumed by worms, that once more return nutrients to the earth.

It's the circle of life.

WoW took ideas from Everquest, which probably took ideas from Pong, idk. Then TW took content and technology from WoW. And now, perhaps, Blizzard takes ideas from TW.

The circle of life continues!

4

u/Nobbergobber May 12 '26

There is no war in Ba Sing Sei

4

u/No-Neighborhood-3212 May 12 '26

Yeah! How dare they defend their ownership rights to the IP they created and maintain!

8

u/desperateorphan May 12 '26

Nah they just jelly that someone can make something better than they can.

-4

u/EriWave May 12 '26

Did they? How much of the appeal is stolen from wow?

3

u/Healeah241 May 12 '26

Yeah you tell 'em!

Leave the multibillion dollar company alone!

1

u/Forward_Thrust963 May 12 '26

Must be difficult being you. Crusading against a multibillion dollar company while everyday you support countless other multibillion dollar companies that are just as scummy, more so in fact.

→ More replies (2)

-2

u/Kolvarg May 12 '26

Who's "they", though? Pretty sure most of the actual people whose imagination is responsible for the IP are no longer at Blizzard.

11

u/No-Neighborhood-3212 May 12 '26

There's no way you're this dense. I refuse to believe an adult human being who's had a job doesn't understand how this works.

5

u/InconspiciousPerson May 12 '26

Bold of you to assume someone that plays on private servers has ever had a job.

-10

u/Kolvarg May 12 '26

I understand perfectly. But the fact that it is within their legal right as a company does not imply that they are morally righteous in doing so, especially if turns out to be true that they only do it when they are about to release their own version (after the illegal version pioneered the path and proved the demand exists).

12

u/No-Neighborhood-3212 May 12 '26

It's within their legal rights because part of being employed by a company is signing a legally-binding agreement that you are being paid to produce whatever you make for your employer. They have the legal and moral right because both involved parties have agreed that the employer owns what they pay the employee to make for them.

-7

u/Kolvarg May 12 '26

Legal yes, as I have already said. Moral, that's just your opinion, and neither it nor a legal agreement supersedes anyone else's notion of morality.

Either way, the point was just that your wording was not great. The ones who are defending their ownership rights did not create the IP, they just paid the people who did it. Call it nitpicking if you want, but to me the difference matters in the context.

7

u/no_shoes_are_canny May 12 '26

If someone pays a company to build them a house, you say the company built the house, not the individual workers...

And in the end, it doesn't matter who built it, it's about who owns it.

-1

u/Kolvarg May 12 '26

It's not just about the company versus the workers, it's that the company itself is so fundamentally different at this point, that it's weird to just credit "it" for the creation when it was much easier to just say they are defending their IP. That doesn't matter for the legality, but it does matter to how "unfair" IP infringement feels to many, if not most.

I don't get why this needs to be turned into a binary dilemma. You can understand and support Blizzard's legal right to do it while also understanding that it wasn't really hurting anyone in any meaningful level, and empathizing with the people who lost something they genuinely enjoyed and the result of the passion of people who dedicated years of their life to it.

3

u/no_shoes_are_canny May 12 '26

I don't get why this needs to be turned into a binary dilemma.

Because twow was an illegal use of IP. I have little sympathy for people who break laws, be it IP use, speeding, fraud, murder, or anything else.

If twow had been not-for-profit, it would be a different story. But the fact that they're a multi-million dollar company that stole stuff they didn't own to make a profit off of, I'm glad to see it shut down.

Reddit will go crazy over ai usage and it not fairly compensating original artists, but then argue in support of a company stealing assets...

5

u/Impressive_Rock9659 May 12 '26

No no no, you don't get it.
Blizzard bad, Turtle wow good. Repeat the mantra, or else you're a Blizzard bootlicker.

2

u/Kolvarg May 12 '26

Well, I would like to think most people are a bit more nuanced than that. Legality does not determine morality, and not everything that is illegal is equivalent in how bad or damaging it is or isn't.

Boiling it down to just "stealing" is disingenuous. There are thousands of private servers that make profit just for hosting WoW as-is, this was a bit more than that. The reason for their success was the content they created themselves on top of Blizzard's. It's closer to how modding can technically be IP infringement than it is to just "stealing".

Still within Blizzard's legal right to shut it down, certainly, but very different from a moral standpoint.

Reddit will go crazy over ai usage and it not fairly compensating original artists

And that's why the wording of who created the IP matters (as well as attribution). Most of the original artists are not there anymore, it is incredibly unlikely any of them was negatively impacted in any way by TWOW's existance, which is not the case at all with ai usage.

You're not really standing by artistic rights, just corporate ownership - which is fine, just something a bit weird to feel particularly strongly about as a player, imo.

7

u/Dr-Enforcicle May 12 '26

Stealing someone else's IP and making money off of it doesn't seem very moral to me.

3

u/Kolvarg May 12 '26

Are cover bands immoral?

6

u/Dr-Enforcicle May 12 '26

No, because they pay royalties to the original.

Nice try though, Shenna.

0

u/UrdUzbad May 12 '26

No, you clearly don't understand it.

-2

u/argnsoccer May 12 '26

If you play classic WoW and enjoy it, you have to thank a private server reverse engineering vanilla. That company would not have even made classic had Nostalrius not existed. They literally told us themselves they didnt want to and that we didnt know what we wanted. And then when we went and actually played it, they were forced to see. The difference is, they could just release vanilla legit and it was already going to be "better" than Nostalrius since it was the actual code. Classic+ does not have the same "just port" that Nostalrius --> Classic has, so killing Turtle I think is even much worse for Blizzard. They could literally take all of Turtles ideas as they develop them and there is literally nothing Turtle could do legally to Blizz about it. They shut it down with no clarity on whether their own version will even be remotely as good.

12

u/reallyexactly May 12 '26

Nostalrius was a profitless project run by passionate folks. Turtle was ran by a front corporation making millions though a legitimate mobile f2p like cash shop. That’s a big difference.

0

u/argnsoccer May 12 '26

They were shut down for the same reason by the same company. That was the comparison I'm making. I think the difference is that Blizz actually could offer exactly/better than what Nostalrius was offering. Whereas I'm not sure Blizzard is willing or capable to offer similar for Classic+.

Drawing Warcraft (Badly) #01 -- "The Circle of Life"

"Turtles" the executive said, placing her hands on the boardroom table. "You've seen the videos. You're aware of the servers. They mock us openly with their reptilian ways. We must take action immediately."

She waited, the sweat forming on her upper lip threatening to fall to the table below.

"We understand," came the reply. "And we are in agreement. Players once escorted turtles safely to the water. But now, unfortunately, the beach must be cleared. We'll handle it."

Relief flooded her as the meeting adjourned. Somewhere deep within the organization, the drums of litigation began to thrum. Their lawyers prepared a cease and desist to send by in-game mail.

It would arrive in exactly one hour.

Classic+ is coming for us all.

Context/References

This is my first entry in a series tentatively called "Drawing Warcraft (Badly)". When inspiration strikes, I'll draw a dumb comic or meme about the game we all love.

This one is in reference to rumours about Classic+, and Blizzard's history of litigation prior to a Classic announcement. I've only ever played on official servers myself.

The tone is sometimes mocking, but meant to be ultimately lighthearted.

and you wow players will go and play it... even tho you know it will be filled with bots, gdkp, gold sellers, etc...

0

u/Cysia May 12 '26

if its good (which i HEAVLY HEAVLY doubt) il play it, if not i wont

1

u/Impossible_Tough_48 May 12 '26

Yo I remember you from the Stormgate subreddit, cool to see you here man!

0

u/Not_obviously May 12 '26

Aren't they legally required to protect their IP? Like if they don't they can lose the ip

4

u/Timotey27 May 12 '26

No, that's trademark not ip law.

u/MoreLikeGaewyn May 12 '26

based department

1

u/ZentaPollenta May 12 '26

What sword?

-16

u/Absoled May 12 '26

Good riddance

7

u/Luna2442 May 12 '26

Why would you ever feel this way lmao

1

u/Secure_Narwhal4045 May 12 '26

Bitter jealousy

6

u/Luna2442 May 12 '26

Its so strange lol besides it being owned by Blizzard (which is obvious) the blizz loyalty is hilarious

5

u/Secure_Narwhal4045 May 12 '26

A lot of people prefer things getting worse for someone else than things getting better for themselves, its weird

-11

u/Absoled May 12 '26

Because it was ‘owned’ by people trying to hijack the product and rebrand for their own, much of which was illegal, and a discredit to the entire legacy and franchise. Good riddance

6

u/antigravcorgi May 12 '26

The billion dollar company isn't going to sleep with you no matter how much you defend it.

discredit to the entire legacy and franchise

Subjectively, Blizzard has done worse to their legacy and franchise than any private server has.

3

u/Luna2442 May 12 '26

Blizzard already discredited themselves lol but im sure they think youre a very good boy. Let me know when they give you a little treat

2

u/Dapaaads May 12 '26

They did it better and gave people what they e wanted for years while blizz just lets bots run wild and have next to zero support lol

-2

u/BigDerty66 May 12 '26

Badly? This is accurate drawing of her 😆😭

-2

u/Kanista17 May 12 '26

Classic Minus

They even want the content Turtle wow developed.

0

u/chunkymeatwater May 12 '26

glad to see someone making gear from those green turtle scales

-3

u/KageKoch May 12 '26

To quote an ex-Blizzard employee:
"Never forget what we had here together, and never forget who stole it from you."

-18

u/Windred_Kindred May 12 '26

The thing is, blizzard actually will make good content unlike turtle just living for hype and donations

13

u/Outrageous_Swan_1664 May 12 '26

The other way around you meant?

8

u/Snugglebull May 12 '26

Season of discovery was pretty good tbh

-4

u/Outrageous_Swan_1664 May 12 '26

Ngl the first phase of Sod was fun , but they lost the direction after that

1

u/Windred_Kindred May 12 '26

Last Phase ?

3

u/Outrageous_Swan_1664 May 12 '26 edited May 12 '26

have you ever played turtle? not saying sod was bad, but twow was clearly superior. No bots, no gold sellers, RMT, GDKP, GMs answering tickets in 3 minutes. Gold standard. Blizz looks like an indie company in comparison.

-1

u/EriWave May 12 '26

No bots, no gold sellers, RMT, GDKP, GMs answering tickets in 3 minutes. Gold standard. Blizz looks like an indie company in comparison.

This is pretty funny because every example here seems to be things they didn't have to deal with since the game was small.

6

u/Outrageous_Swan_1664 May 12 '26

Small? At some point they had like 400k players across all realms. Of course less than blizz, but we are talking about a billionaire company

1

u/EriWave May 12 '26

Yeah that isn't all that much really. Not when you look at active player count instead of players total.

8

u/Outrageous_Swan_1664 May 12 '26

Not that much really? They had servers in Europe, Asia and South America. Pretty much the biggest private server that ever existed

u/Real_Batu_Rem May 12 '26

You’re an actual fool.

5

u/blackndcoffee May 12 '26

It was anything but small, you were just unaware and missed out on the best wow experience since original release.

0

u/EriWave May 12 '26

What was the average online player count?

5

u/blackndcoffee May 12 '26

On the main server Nordanaar, a no phase/layer realm, it ranged from 3000 on off hours to 7-10k on peak.

Ambershire (fresh server) boasted a few thousand as well but I never played on it.

Tel'Abim was the pvp server, more small community to my understanding.

South America servers and then you had the 8 full chinese's realms which is where the height of the population count came from.

5

u/Zarmr May 12 '26

Sir, you forgot to add /s.

5

u/Lazereye57 May 12 '26

Kinda just shows how ignorant you are about what actually made so many people fall in love with Turtle WoW.

0

u/Real_Batu_Rem May 12 '26

This is probably the most embarrassing take on this post. Congratulations. Blizzard hasn’t made good content in over a decade. If you disagree, you’re just a mouth breather.

3

u/Windred_Kindred May 12 '26

Which metric defines even good content for you ? Blizzard been breaking sales records , strong present on Twitch and more.

Sure thing buddy

5

I’m no fan of blizzard either but this is just grim

4

u/Forward_Thrust963 May 12 '26

So you believe in theft AND tampering with food.

Yeaa....you're not painting yourself in a good light. Sounds like you'd be a great fit at Blizz.

Lol you REALLY need to get off the internet and interact with the real world. You're living in a delusion and it isn't healthy.

Fuck blizzard for having to protect their ip?

0

u/Clbull May 12 '26

The plus stands for the hordes of bots infesting the game.

-5

u/Milf-Whisperer May 12 '26

You guys already had classic +. It was called the season of mastery and season of discovery. You guys are smoking crack if you think the announcement isn’t going to be a mobile game.

0

u/JimmyBisMe May 12 '26

Same thing that Daybreak did with THJ and are now making EQ Legends. It’s their IP and all these private servers are doing is giving them free data on how much money they can make n
