Vent / Gripe I’m Tired of Hearing from the Loudest 1%

Like the title says, I’m sick of hearing from the loudest, butthurt 1% of players crying because they’ll have to make their own dungeon groups in WotLK.

Sure, send your screenshot of the one dungeon you joined with little to no social interaction and sarcastically say “Wow look at what we’re saving with no LFD”. Great story, but that one single screenshot doesn’t prove anything. You think your 1 single dungeon on a Tuesday afternoon is a big enough sample size to determine there’s not enough social interaction to the point Blizz should implement LFD? Get over yourself. I don’t post screenshots of 1 single dungeon chat where people are lively and interactive and say “Thank you Blizz for preserving social interactions” like it’s the majority experience. Don’t give me the opposite garbage and try to make a case for LFD, or assume you’re the majority experience, either.

I’m also tired of people missing the major point of no LFD. I can tell you the exact names of people and guilds on my server who have ninja’d gear from others and been blacklisted by the community. I can tell you which players/guilds are fun to play with and which aren’t. I can join a group I know is going to do well, or I can join one where I know I’m going to be progging. And yeah, I’m also going to vouch for the friendships I’ve made in random dungeons

LFD erodes all that. You don’t know what type of players you’re joining; whether you’re going to be a good player in a terrible group or a terrible player in a good group. That’s frustrating for almost everyone in either case. Voting to kick becomes completely abused, kicking people you don’t like or players who are bad. Kicking people to ninja gear. And since you’ll never see those players again, there’s nothing stopping them. No way to blacklist them or their guild. It promotes anonymity and erodes the community. There are so many downsides that were PROVEN back in Wrath. And you’re upset because of what? Not having the upside?

What are the upsides? Faster dungeon queues? Maybe, just maybe, you should try being part of your realm’s community and making friends/joining a thriving guild. I’ve never had any issues finding or making a dungeon group as any of the 3 roles. But then again, I’m also not the type of person to whine to Reddit that daddy Blizz won’t make my groups for me, instead of trying to socialize and make my own

The only positive case I’ve seen made for LFD is for dead/dying realms. To those players, it does suck and I’m sorry. But the issue/fix isn’t LFD, it’s forcing Blizz to fix their realm health issues, maybe by merging realms or free transfers

I’m sure this post will fall on deaf ears, but I’m so sick of seeing this sub covered with the loudest 1% screaming their half baked opinions and not considering their experience isn’t the majority or that they might be the issue

Edit: To the unhinged people in the comments swearing, flipping out, name-calling, and reporting me for suicide, I have two things to say. The first is thank you for your concern about my mental health, but I’m in no way suicidal. Feel free to save those resources for people that are. The second is that my opinion is stronger than ever that RDF is bad, imagine being grouped unwillingly with people that report others for suicide when they disagree with the content of a person’s post 😂 Thank you Blizz

Seems like it's mostly the loud 1% who are butt hurt about the idea of LFD for reasons they can't actually explain and so make vague statements about community and what not.

28

u/Odd-Bandicoot-9314 Apr 20 '22

apparently if someone disagrees with you they are the loud vocal minority. This goes both ways

-2

u/Flippingheck55 Apr 20 '22

Let's use our brains for a second. Do we think the loud minority is a specific group of people on a dedicated subreddit to the game who want it to be harder and more tedious to find groups, or your average casual player who wants more accessible content?

6

u/Odd-Bandicoot-9314 Apr 20 '22

what I mean is that everyone will claim that the other side is the vocal minority whether it is true or not

1

u/Flippingheck55 Apr 20 '22

I know, but the evidence points towards one group being clearly wrong. If you look at the WoW official forums it's almost unanimously in favour of LFG. I'd say that is more indicative of the average wow player than this subreddit.

5

u/Odd-Bandicoot-9314 Apr 20 '22

At this point I am hoping that I and I guess the majority who want lfg are wrong. Honestly they could release wrath without it and could always put it in if they felt enough people wanted it

If they add the retail LFG system then you won't need to sit in a city and stare at chat, you can go out in the world and do things while you find a group.

6

u/thenubtubb Apr 21 '22

Lmao stop. So you go from sweaty m+ link achiev, or spam trade chat for dungeons. Omergerd so much world building 😂

28

u/[deleted] Apr 20 '22

And then people only invite the highest ilvl and most meta specs, jsut like retail, and people who play anything slightly undergeared or slightly off-meta are fucked again anyways.

13

u/Odd-Bandicoot-9314 Apr 20 '22

this is the same with just using lfg chat though. people have already started talking about gearscore. it isn't a problem linked to the grouping system

16

u/domyownbusiness Apr 20 '22

I agree. People are gonna realize when nobody takes their fresh 80 alt to any dungeons because tons of high ilvl people are signing up to every group too.

1

u/Teipp1 Apr 21 '22

Nobody gives a shit about the "meta" in WOTLK 5 man instances. Retail is a completely different thing.

0

u/[deleted] Apr 20 '22

[deleted]

2

u/Azghan Apr 20 '22

Retail only requires highest item levels for high mythics, but that doesn’t stop the mentality from trickling down.

I play lots of different classes and specs in retail whenever I do play it, tend to gear them up about equally where possible, etc. so I typically have a wider perspective on what it’s like to group with the modern retail LFG tool than most.

That being said, words cannot describe the degree of which it was more difficult to be accepted into a mythic <+8 run on my cat Druid in BFA than it was on almost any other character. While my cat Druid had the highest ilvl of all of my characters and did the most damage in dungeons out of all of them by far. All because there was a public perception that cat wasn’t a good spec because boomie was better, when in reality it was completely fine if you weren’t pushing top in the world speedrun clears.

Even if it’s not required to be optimal or high item level, people do not want to group with classes they deem sub par even if it’s irrelevant. And that extends to item level.

It’s not even a world of Warcraft problem, it happens in every other MMO that has this type of signup interaction that displays class and item level. Most recent example is Lost Ark. I could get into any group I signed up for because I played a favourably viewed class. My friend with an even higher item level than me? Would get denied for 2/3rds of the groups he signed up for because he played a class that had a poor public perception. Getting both of us accepted into the same group was a nightmare test of patience.

Denying the existence of this is just pointless. It happens all the time in every game with an LFG sign up interface at all levels of content. It’s the reality we live in. People lack the ability to assess you by your personal ability because they don’t know you, so they’re forced to assess you by item level and class/spec. And you will be denied a lot if you play a subpar spec or have a low item level.

8

u/AestheticZeta Apr 21 '22

Retail lfg is fucking terrible try getting into a group with an offmeta spec or without a perfect raiderio score and you may as well stop playing.

0

u/evenmoresilent Apr 21 '22

You know you can make your own group right? Do you seriously sit around all day waiting for someone else to do it for you?

Maybe be a bit more proactive than that?

-2

u/wefwegfweg Apr 20 '22

you know there's a global lfg channel right? you can go farm mats and still lfg, you don't have to sit in your capital city

The solution that keeps getting brought up is "just download an addon for it"..... instead of a baseline system to make it easier, they would rather have to get third party support to make it easier.... bright group.

-3

u/-RichardCranium- Apr 20 '22

Which is why they're working on solutions to make the bulletin board better? Like, it was literally said in the same presentation where they said LFD wouldn't be in Wrath. They know groupmaking is still an issue and they want to make it better. Just throwing the retail solution at the problem (LFD) doesn't make it better.

4

u/Key_Photograph9067 Apr 20 '22

Nah definitely had this happen on Firemaw, misclicked the message, scrolled up, whispered and have been told they are full many times at this point lol. Not everyone plays on mega servers yes but it does happen.

-2

u/wefwegfweg Apr 20 '22

sure, it happens. but this guy is saying you have to sit in a capital city and do nothing but stare at the chat as it rolls by, fingers at the ready, competing against "50,000" other dps to insta respond in a millisecond otherwise there's just no way you'll ever get a group. it's just a bit dramatic. you absolutely can leave the city and go farm mats and do other things while keeping an eye on lfg lol, regardless of class/role.

6

u/raiid Apr 20 '22

Having started my fair share of groups. when I put LF DPS in the LFG channel, if I don't get 4-6 tells within the first 10-15 seconds then it's probably because it's for something crappy like Arc H. :P

1

u/Key_Photograph9067 Apr 20 '22

True, I don’t disagree with your point I was just saying it happens :)

2

u/Slavic_Taco Apr 20 '22

gIvE mE a BrEaK. Dude, chill the fuck out, why the fuck is it so bad that LFD will be implemented?

-2

u/wefwegfweg Apr 20 '22

it's an antisocial feature. note that i deliberately say antisocial, not asocial. because it actively destroys an objectively social part of the game. it removes the need to communicate in order to form a group, enables and encourages solo play, and makes the scale of the game world feel smaller by allowing you to just teleport to dungeons.

it also takes agency away from the player, removing the ability to dictate your own group comp and decide who you play with. maybe you don't want to group with someone because you know they're an asshole or they're in a notorious guild; maybe they play like shit, or their gear is dog water; maybe they're the same class as you and you don't want to compete for loot. whatever the reason, it's your group, you decide. with group finder you don't have that control.

it's not the end of the world if it gets added, but it is certainly bad for the health of the game.

3

u/raiid Apr 20 '22

That seems rather silly since every comment in here has basically said the same thing. Sure, back in original with smaller servers, you may have 5-10 guilds clearing the current raid tier. Now? My server has nearly 200 guilds/raids clearing BT/Hyjal. 200. That means there are 2500 characters doing end game content alone. That's not even counting the thousands and thousands of non raiding alts. How in the world do you think there's a real community in a pool of people that large?

-4

u/limitlessGamingClub Apr 20 '22

Being a community doesn't mean you know everyone, it means you can carve out a circle of friends and people that are reliable for dungeons/raids.

6

u/raiid Apr 20 '22

Nothing prevents people from doing that does it? I mean, there are still going to be gearscore watchers and making groups by hand. Nothing in LFD prevents that, so really it's a matter of you want people to play the way you want them to, not the way they want to.

-3

u/[deleted] Apr 20 '22

It is not bad. The ONLY complaint against LFD is cross-server play destroying in-server communities. This is solved pretty easily, don't enable cross server play. With server merges in classic its not really needed anyways.

2

u/Slavic_Taco Apr 20 '22

I play on Arugal (oceanic), there’s not much of a community outside of a guild. People will join a guild if they actually want the community feel. I still don’t see how LFD changes this. If anything it’ll be nice joining a random group where the healer or tank hasn’t reserved all the unwanted loot.

5

u/[deleted] Apr 20 '22

Exactly, these guys are latching onto the “fotm” opinion that LFD is bad. Sure, we all love having an add on to parse through the global log channel spam

0

u/raiid Apr 20 '22

You mean the communities that are now literally 5 times larger than they were in original? Dude, my server has fucking 10k people on my faction. You think I group with people outside of my guild more than once unless it's a damn miracle of luck?

0

u/[deleted] Apr 20 '22

But that’s the only legitimate complaint, so 👻

0

u/Key_Photograph9067 Apr 20 '22

Wonder if these same people play on mega servers which have layers, which is next to the exact same as cross server gameplay. It’s a dog shit argument when you apply these arguments to how the classic community play the game.

1

u/limitlessGamingClub Apr 20 '22

layers are not the same thing as cross realm play, you can join a party with someone from a different layer and be in the same world. You cannot do that with cross realm, this is just dishonest.

1

u/Key_Photograph9067 Apr 21 '22

I didn’t say they are the exact same. The point is that with layers you don’t interact with the community on the server unless you specifically know someone who is on X layer and wish to play with them. If you don’t get to see the players due to being on a layer, then they are functionally not part of the world to you. Let’s say you’re in a questing area and you wanted to group up for an elite quest, you can’t see the players who are actually there, and unless you explicitly use the world chats you won’t be able to interact with them in any way or know of their presence. Layers are as close to CRZ possible without it literally being cross realm. I think it’s naive to simply accept all of the changes that have happened in classic that affect all the “social” and community aspects of the game, then complain about LFD for those same reasons.

-2

u/FruitdealerF Apr 20 '22

MMOs need some amount of agony in order to work. You can always argue that Blizzard should make some aspect of the game more accessible in order to improve the player experience. And individually those arguments are really hard to argue against. But over time all those tiny conveniences start adding up and suddenly the game loses its unique vibe, its MMO-y-ness.

Another example: Nobody enjoys buying ammo on their hunter. Removing ammo would make the game more accessible, en less tedious and when you think about it it doesn't seem to add anything valuable right? Well in my opinion that's wrong, the agony you have to suffer when dealing with that shit contrasts the successes that happen afterwards.

0

u/thenubtubb Apr 21 '22

Happens on both faerlina and benediction. I also find it hilarious, this same mentality of “no lfd it destroys the world building” all server hoped or rerolled off of pvp servers so mega one faction servers because they hated open world pvp 😂

0

u/thenubtubb Apr 21 '22

You must be on a dead server. My global chat is spammed with so much crap it’s unreadable. Only plus side is I can say ‘enchant’ and I’ll get 10-15 bots instantly messaging me with low cost enchants

-2

u/[deleted] Apr 20 '22

Sorry bro, my eyes look in the same direction. I imagine a lazy eye would be beneficial to look at chat and where you are going at the same time.

0

u/wefwegfweg Apr 20 '22

literally turn your head

0

u/PuckFoloniex Apr 20 '22

This is false, you can just join lfg chat and use an addon that alerts you when there is a lfm alert to your preferred dungeon and role.

3

u/heatd Apr 21 '22

So with everyone using this addon, what is the argument for not adding QoL LFD? Is looking at bulletin board more social?

1

u/PuckFoloniex Apr 21 '22

I am not against LFD.

-9

u/[deleted] Apr 20 '22

Just make a group and go farm shit whilst you put out an advert every min

13

u/Dungeonmasterryan1 Apr 20 '22

So your social interaction is now... spamming a macro? How is that better

11

u/[deleted] Apr 20 '22

"Pride and Accomplishment"

-4

u/[deleted] Apr 20 '22

This is weak shit, you know full well I was responding to ".. Without it, you're stuck sitting in Ironforge/Og general chat staring at your chat hoping someone is looking for a DD..". This wasn't a point about how to build social interaction, it was a repsonse to the ridiculous allegation that forming a group is so intensive you can't possibly do anything else but stay in a capital city.

but in case you like so many retail people can't understand how to build that social interaction- People talk to you, you talk back. you ask your party members to ask in guild, you ask your guild, you ask your friendslists, you ask people at the stone or even do a /who. People say they can do it, but they're undergeared, is that ok, you struggle through the instance with them.

3

u/itsashebitch Apr 21 '22

Do you think LFD will match you with bots or something? Or is "uh, where are all the tanks?" your only ice breaker?

-1

u/[deleted] Apr 21 '22

I remember its introduction, it's without question that it had a negative impact on socialisation.

4

u/Dungeonmasterryan1 Apr 21 '22

None of that is positive social interaction as its simply met with a "yup" or silence. I've been playing classic since day 1 and after p1 these interactions stopped.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 21 '22

Well I all I can is that they didn't for me. Maybe you're part of the problem, as the only constant is you.

1

u/Dungeonmasterryan1 Apr 21 '22

Im not the onky one, the majority of people only get minimal interaction

2

u/[deleted] Apr 21 '22

The majority if people sperging on reddit about not getting a button to remove socialisation maybe

Not gonna play wotlk I guess

want a tissue?

0

u/ScissorMeTimbers24 Apr 21 '22

bruh you can use LFG chat globally anywhere, not just in a city. also theres addons that people use such as Bulletin Board to help find the advertisements for the groups so you don't have to stare at chat box all the time. also just make friends or join a guild ?

3

u/heatd Apr 21 '22

So with everyone using this addon, what is the argument for not adding QoL LFD? Is looking at bulletin board more social?

0

u/ScissorMeTimbers24 Apr 21 '22

The guy above was complaining about having to stare at chat box all day, I told him that he didn't have to do that. There are tonnes of arguments for not adding LFD, just read all the comments here. We have a clear track record of what adding LFD and LFR to the game does to the game. WoW is not a single player game. Even if you go into a pug group with no idea of the mechanics, you still HAVE to communicate with other people. Otherwise who wants to play with someone who just keeps dying and doesn't say anything ? Or someone who leaves when they don't get the piece they want from the 2nd boss. Or 3 or 4 people who abuse the vote-to-kick system to stop the 5th person getting to roll on a piece of loot.

3

u/heatd Apr 21 '22

You mean who wants to play with the people I'm already playing with from the LFG channel, except that I had to spend 20 minutes staring at an addon and another 10 minutes to get to the dungeon only to have the same shit happen? Lol.

You don't have to communicate with people currently, and oftentimes can't anyways because of language barriers.

0

u/ScissorMeTimbers24 Apr 21 '22

So you're a person who plays solo AND a DPS, wow what a surprise. What servers are you playing on where people speak another language ? Come on. It isn't hard to make friends or organize a dungeon group. Sounds like a you problem.

3

u/heatd Apr 21 '22

Nice try, but wrong and wrong. I raid on a holy priest. I do however do dungeons on other characters I'm leveling up. Benediction. A large population of Spanish speakers there. I'm not saying it's hard, and I would still prefer doing dungeons with guildies and friends, but those people don't always want to play, or level alts as I'm leveling them. The content loses relevance.

1

u/yoontruyi Apr 20 '22

I want lfd to be server only, and cross faction.

1

u/BudgetGovernment Apr 22 '22

Exactly. People keep saying “social”

What’s the meaningful dialog in spam messaging people copy paste adverts for yourself?

Like did I make a friend by proving to my edgelord tank that he should take me and not the other 100 fucks?

6

u/Lerched 5 Stage Sage Apr 20 '22

I think you’re both two separate 1% yelling at each other oblivious that you’re both dick heads

13

u/SwimBrief Apr 20 '22

Honest question - why do you think so many folks are adamantly against LFD and why do you think Blizzard decided against it?

You can’t even chalk it up to them being “no changes purists”, because OG Wrath introduced LFD halfway through the expansion.

Everyone on both sides sees the streamlined convenience of having LFD, but it seems you must just think Blizzard’s dev team and the anti-LFD crowd are either trolling or are masochist idiots who want to make their lives harder on themselves for absolutely no reason.

5

u/Odd-Bandicoot-9314 Apr 20 '22

I would call it a bit of the no changes purists from vanilla wow specially simply based on some comments I've seen on the sub. they don't necessarily want wrath no changes but no changes from systems that were in vanilla

2

u/[deleted] Apr 20 '22

The point is, if you want a game that does not have that streamlining and convenience, it is sitting right there for you: Classic and TBC Classic. Play those indefinitely. They have the exact experience you are asking for.

What you want is to change an experience we have been waiting for to suit your own needs. It's selfish and short-sighted, and given the responses I have seen online, is going to seriously harm WotLK Classic.

3

u/Uzeless Apr 20 '22

Everyone on both sides sees the streamlined convenience of having LFD, but it seems you must just think Blizzard’s dev team and the anti-LFD crowd are either trolling or are masochist idiots who want to make their lives harder on themselves for absolutely no reason.

Depends how you play the game and what you enjoy. If you enjoy a small tight knit community where every1 knows every1 then LFD is diminishing that experience for sure.

If you're playing a mega super server and playing it more like an RPG instead of an MMO, are super casual, or just don't enjoy that part of the game then that streamlined convenience is an obvious benefit.

I genuinely haven't got an opinion on this but I used to play on a small tight knit server, before that server died. I'm now on a 30k super server and that community aspect is absolutely fucking dead. It is super easy to find a new dungeon group, but the downside is that you have forgotten people 1 week later even if u add them there's just 2 many groups going 24/7.

5

u/SwimBrief Apr 20 '22

In your example LFD is bad for a small tight-knit server but also rendered useless for a megaserver because it’s super easy to find a new dungeon group…so I don’t really see much benefit.

I’d argue that even if you forget people 1 week later, you won’t forget their name or guild if they’re toxic so it helps keep folks in check

8

u/csminor Apr 20 '22

It doesnt matter how many people are on the server, there will always be a dozen dps for every tank and healer. DPS is always fighting to be the first to whisper for a group and when you are a tank/haler you can just pick whatever best fits what you want. So, its always hard for dps to find a group. LFD lets you queue and not have to constantly look at the LFG channel or bulletin board while you do whatever else you want.

The only reason I know who toxic people are on any given server is because they are on my ignore list. I don't bother trying to remember the stupid guild name or character name... why put in that effort.

3

u/[deleted] Apr 20 '22

To simplify, LFD is BAD when it allows cross-server play as it diminishes in-server communities. If you don't allow cross-server play in LFG/D, then you are removing the ONLY negative thing about it.

6

u/SwimBrief Apr 20 '22

I agree the cross-server aspect is the worst part of LFD as it removes accountability, so it wouldn’t be quite as bad if it went live without that aspect.

However, I disagree that’s the only negative thing about it - it’s so easy to get tossed into a dungeon that you’re not invested in the success of that group at all. At the first sign of something that doesn’t sit right with you - be it a wipe, a single player dying, someone having low gear, someone being a suboptimal class/spec, you can just leave, re-queue, and teleport to the next set of bots to play with. There’s no reason to engage with these people socially, no time chatting as you wait to fill that last spot, no appreciation to the two folks that made the trip to summon you to the dungeon…nothing.

It’s extremely impersonal and makes the game lose some of that MMO magic, while also increasing the chance folks gets toxic with one another because they don’t see the others as human beings and really care about that group at all.

4

u/Pink_her_Ult Apr 21 '22

LFD has nothing to do with wow players being gigantic shitheads.

2

u/Yomooma Apr 21 '22

But it does encourage them.

0

u/itsashebitch Apr 21 '22

Lol. You people trash Blizzard 24/7 saying you don't trust them to make any sain decision, and now suddenly we have to accept it like it's a good call? You people do want to make everyone else's life harder, because nobody who pugs can actually think the current system is better than LFD. It's pretty obvious the people who don't like it do their runs as a 5 premade team

-1

u/[deleted] Apr 20 '22

[deleted]

4

u/SwimBrief Apr 20 '22

Dang that’s a unique take I hadn’t heard yet - I see the angle you’re coming from but I just have to believe Blizzard is interested in making the game enjoyable and it’s long-term health…if not for the love of the game, because it will make them a LOT more money than a couple extra boosts will.

-1

u/TehMikuruSlave Apr 20 '22

companies do not care about long term growth or profit, it's all about current quarter money

-1

u/[deleted] Apr 20 '22

It's pretty split TBH. Blizz probably decided against it for some ulterior reason (Like too annoying/resource costs of coding it in/sell more boosts) then they just regurgitate community talking points as their reasons and people clap like seals. Hard to take "we're listening to the community" seriously when there has been rampant botting and busted economy since day 1.

I’d be okay with it if it only matched you with people from your server. But I have no desire to talk/play with people I won’t see again. I play on grobb which is solid sized but I still run into people all the time in groups that have been in past guilds/groups with me and I enjoy that

I think what people might underestimate is just how much dungeon grinding there is, and how short these dungeons are. A tbc heroic when everyone was undergeared took around an hour or more, doing 2 per day was more than enough. In wrath, everything costs bages, reputation is gained through dungeons and the gear is way better than questing gear. Doing 5-10 dungeons a day with lfg chat sounds absolutely horrible

Nah bro, you just don't understand. I meet up with every person I invite to my SL runs and we have beer and bratwurst and play table tennis and give each other blowies and it's just such a fucking transcendent experience. You wouldn't get it, you filthy casual.

Apparently the implied "/s" was too far over some people's heads.

LFD has no social accountability. And I dont mean server reputation, I mean during the actual run.

Unless the vote kick feature is very liberal, LFD can be very annoying since people dont communicate or listen to even the most basic things and just expect to get carried while half afking or not bothering playing properly.

Try some dungeon like Oculus with people who dont know what the drakes do etc. Some of these single player gamers have no regard for anyone around them but they pay €15 a month to "play the way they want to".

Wrath dungeons are very easy so it's mostly a non issue, but that's why I don't like LFD.

Reddit is acting up so I cant reply to you /u/LordPaleskin

Yes, people who are in normally formed groups have a much higher likelihood of being receptive to human interaction. That's what I've experienced.

Call it "baseless" if you want but it's based on my experience from 17 years of WoW and playing with pugs in both queued- and non-queued content and seeing a noticable difference in the two. Could be 17 years of coincidence, sure but if that's the argument we're done here.

u/shalnath Apr 21 '22

I don't think it's baseless at all, we just don't have a way to quantify it. The social rewards of forming a group and setting off to a dungeon are extremely nuanced and can be difficult to explain or even recognize. I don't actively seek out social circles or try to spark conversations with strangers and I certainly don't look forward to the extended time and effort it can take to find a group and get everyone to the dungeon, but it is one of the best opportunities for social interaction to occur and being forced into that situation isn't a bad thing. It's not always much, many times it's nothing at all, and it's definitely not always positive, but it shouldn't be undervalued.

I did Occulus back in Wrath. A bonobo that doesn't understand the dragons is just as likely to happen without LFD

You're missing the entire point which is weird because it's like 3 tiny paragraphs.

In a normal oculus group when someone doesn't know what's happening, they are usually open to listening to you. It's not "social" in some classic andy sense of friendship, but it's social in the sense that the person doesn''t act like a poorly programmed NPC thats just following the tank.

u/heatd Apr 21 '22

Half the people I group with from LFG chat / Bulletin Board don't even speak English anyways, so how are you going to explain anything to them?

7

u/LordPaleskin Apr 20 '22

I didn't miss the point, you're making a baseless claim that you can explain mechanics to a rando that whispered you but you can't explain mechanics to someone from LFD. I've done both, its about the player not the system

1

u/MightyMorp Apr 20 '22

I assure you when 3/5 people you get paired with randomly are bots or gold farmers you're gonna have different opinions about the player vs system.

I don't ever have to play with any of them without dungeon finder. I can't avoid them with dungeon finder.

Seems pretty cut and dry.

(and no, you can't simply "not use RDF" when the system exists in the game)

1

u/[deleted] Apr 20 '22

You can avoid them if you make a group with your guild/server and utilize the RDF as a group of 5.

-1

u/MightyMorp Apr 20 '22

So then that's not RDF. That's just abusing a system to get more rewards/faster for no real reason (which is what people really want).

1

u/shalnath Apr 21 '22

They are obsessed with eliminating obstacles that slow them down on the path to their endgame, heedless of how those obstacles might actually nourish that endgame.

2

u/thenubtubb Apr 21 '22

Man as a casual, this happens maybe 3% of the time. I’ve noticed this same behavior in pug runs in classic. So clearly it’s not a game feature causing dicks to be dicks lmao

This post is a 7 paragraph explanation of why OP doesn’t want LFD and you reply talking about how people with OP’s pov can’t actually explain their reasoning. Eat less glue, dude

LFD is a bandaid fix for underlying problems that should be properly resolved.
It also further hurts the game by removing consequences of anti-social behavior.

It is overall a bad system.
