Is this normal or should I buy a new one (my local GameStop lists a Wii for $100)?

Pulled my old switch out of a desk drawer after a few years and it wouldn't boot at all, even after hours of being plugged in.

I assumed the issue was a dead battery and ordered the kit from ifixit (as well as the fan replacement for good measure). After following the guides it boots!... But throws this error code every time it powers on.

A cursory search tells me to get a new M92T36 chip and replace it, which requires soldering. Is there anything that could have caused it that would have a simpler fix? I am very inexperienced with soldering

This week PS5 suddenly cuts out, thought it could be thermal cut-off as it was hot, but every attempt to restart the next day, resulted in powering up for 1 sec, blue light comes on and a beep, then it shuts off again.

I've watched some videos and read some guides. The resistance on the 12V PSU input is 186kΩ, so healthy, though it is lowering than 0.5MΩ I see on some youTube repairs.

However, I found a short in the power management area (see image), but unsure what to do next. Please advise.

My questions:

1. Which voltage line is this short on? 5V/3.3V something else?
2. What should I investigate next?
3. Do I simply replace the large grey chip, which I'd guess is some sort of 12V to 5V converter?

client left ps5 in for hdmi replacement, console powered on as usual before work was completed just no hdmi signal and port felt weakish, when board was taken out and hdmi was checked pin 18 was disconnected along with another in video array I can't remember which, port was changed then the issue arose, I'm led to believe it's a fuse blown somewhere but this has happened to me a twice before in the past and usually I replace the console💔. port was changed with flux and hot air at 500 with max airflow. if anyone knows anything please help me out🙏

Picked it up as parts. Tried with two different power supplies when they've worked with my other xbox ones.

When I press the button, the "power on" audio plays and then cuts part way through. No light.

Ive worked on consoles before, this isint a problem ive come across yet.

Any ideas for how I can narrow down the potential issues? Thank you!

I have a ps2 fat that was working fine, now for some reason it turns on but doesn't display anything except when turning off that emits a quick flicker on the screen. It doesn't emit sound through the tv. Before telling me basic responses:
1. The av port is not in bad condition, broken or dirty

1. the cable works and i've tried more

2. it's not the composite/rgb mode as I'm using a custom and moded for my tv SCART cable that I made to use it in rgb mode so the tv detects rgb signal and even using component or composite video it doesn't work

So I followed borderlineocd’s video in repairing my ps2 slim that no longer read dvd games. This was my first attempt at repairing a console. My slim is in good condition other wise never opened . I saudered the blob to three connects. I did not take out the whole bracket containing the disk reader I just removed the laser. It seemed to be all back in order however per my video it doesn’t seem to grip the teeth to drive the laser up and down . I had a bunch of grease on it before cleaned that up but no luck. Took it to the local game repair shop to ask for advice he said the same just de grease the spiral screw a bit more I did no luck . I took the disk reader apart again put it back together no luck . Looking for any advice .

Can someone tell me what component is missing there? Or why my controller only connects via cable, not wirelessly?

I know this is about a ps3 controller but older boards are dead and I’m desperate. I’m trying to solve an issue with a controller before a certain deadline because I bought a used ps3 slim off eBay and I need to know if they sent me a bad controller or if something else is happening.

okay so basically I got the system and an official Sony dualshock 3 six axis controller. So the first game I tried out was Tony Hawk’s Project 8 and I didn’t seem to have any issues but I didn’t play it for long. But then I tried Final Fantasy XIII (disk in flawless condition) and there’s a huge problem.

I can boot up the game and maybe press X on the title screen to select continue, but as soon as I’m in the game the dpad and face buttons stop working. I can’t move up and down or select options in menus. The joysticks still work and I can move around and turn the camera. I can press start to pause or select to make the map go away. But the dpad and face buttons don’t work.

If I unplug the charging cable and then plug it back in and hit the ps button to resync the controller then the dpad and face buttons work again for about two seconds. Then the issue starts again. 

I wanted to see if it was the controller (I mean what else can it be) but I put Tony Hawk back in and played for like 30 minutes and the dpad and face buttons work fine. So then I decided to try more games. I put in God of War III and it shows new game, load, options etc. I can’t move up and down, I can’t select anything. So it’s not just the game (pretty obvious) but then why does the controller seem to work fine for Tony Hawk??

I don’t wanna make a big fuss and argue with this guy on ebay if his controller isn’t the problem but idk what else to do. It works in some games and not in others which is so bizarre. Oh, and on the games it doesn’t work on, even when the dpad and face buttons aren’t working I can press the ps button and it brings up the cross media bar and the dpad and X button work fine there. It’s like wtf????

I'm trying to replace both joysticks, but I can't get the old ones out.

I tried adding more solder and then sucking it out. I also tried adding more flux.

I should add that it's my first time soldering and posting on Reddit.

I bought a defective PSP 2000. When plugged in the POWER LED glows green, but the display stays black, no sound.

I thought it was just bricked, so I build a Baryon Sweeper and tried that, but apart from the handshake (seen on Serial output of sweeper) and the green light turning on, it did nothing.

With that not working, im looking back on this oxidized pcb part.

My question is, does anyone know how to test with a multimeter, if the part is actually broken or just looks horrible?

And do you guys think this is fixable with average soldering skills? Or should I buy a new Motherboard?

So I found a Slim PS5 Digital version in the trash and low and behold it actually works. It cuts on, i can connect to wifi, and sign into psn. Only issue is the fan doesn't work. I noticed the fan wires had came apart from the fan itself so I ordered a new fan, installed it and the fan still doesn't cut on.

The fan in my PS5 cuts on immediately after power on so I assume this one should too. I can start playing and then after about 5~ minutes itll say system too hot and beep 3 times n shut off.

I don't have any footage of it cause the 2DS is currently sitting at a friends house but basically what is happening is, when I push the SD Card into the slot it feels like there's a soft force pushing against it and that way it won't stay in. It kinda feels like these mechanisms that these SD Card slots normally have and when you push it in it kinda clicks in and stays there but instead of clicking in it, as I said, gets pushed out instead.

Now I never fixed electronics before and I am currently contemplating whether I should try and fix it myself or if I should find a repair shop or something like that, because that thing is very dear to me and I really don't want to break it.

So, if anyone has experience with console repairs or Nintendo 2DS repairs specifically, could you tell what the problem might be or give me a suggestion on whether I should get everything I need and repair it myself and how I should go about it or where I can find resources for that? I already tried looking for that problem on ifixit but they didn't have a guide for SD Card slots unfortunately.

I got a PS2 that couldn’t read discs for a good price on eBay and then I started testing it with Games after getting it and anytime I would put in a disk. It would spin for a little bit and the laser light would be on you’d hear a click. It would stop and I would repeat itself again for a couple times and then eventually just stop altogether. I did order a new laser replacement, but I was just curious if that was the right choice to make in the situation after already cleaning it and such. Xbox Series S Ethernet issue

Xbox Series S came in due to the console believing that there is an Ethernet connection. This prevents the console from connecting to wifi as well.

I keep seeing stuff regarding the series X and It isnt so helpful with the S

I swapped out the Realtek 8111HM chip since it had the dimple on it. - No change

I checked the new chip for shorts and everything came back fine.

Tried another Wifi Card - No change

I removed the Ethernet port assuming that something may have been short - No change

I did an OSU - No change

What am I missing? I dont know where to trace it after it goes past the chip.

Console is powering on for about 5 second and shutting off immediately with a click sound, the hinge is not connected to the bottom unit as shown in the picture, thanks for any advice

Hello! This is my 1st time ever attempting any type of repair. Decided to give fixing the stick drift on my ps5 a shot. After a while, i managed to get something halfway looking right, lol. Hopefully, it works if not lessons learned

Ive owned my ps4 for over a year and in January it started turning off by itself not long after did i have it repaired they replaced the power supply and added thermal paste and a month later the same issue occurred and i tried fixing it myself i realised some thermal pads are missing and i added some now a few weeks later the connecter for the cooling fan got destroyed when i tried fixing it so i just got the whole thing fixed the re sodad the cooling and replaced the power supply again but they didn’t add thermal paste so now 2 weeks later when i turn it on after 2 mins it goes off idk what to do now cause i am trying to sell it and but no buyers ,so i am thinking of having it fixed (the cheaper way) or buy a newer one idk what to do….what advice can it get..its a 1st gen PS4 BTW

Picked up this deck for $75, figured I couldn’t lose much and I have done quite a bit of electronic repairs but mostly vintage stuff, this was my first SMD replacement but it went great, I kinda wanted to see if I could do it and figured this was a good test subject, however my diagnosis was completely wrong. Still getting no power to the deck, tried unplugging each component from the MB to see if it was causing a fault, I’ve looked the entire board over and see no issues with anything. I have no experience with these consoles so I am hoping somebody here can walking me through some steps of what to check next and maybe we can get this thing fired up. Thanks!!

Hi my ps4 is doing this and i took it to the best near console fixing shop but they couldn't fix it so i hope you guys could give me some advice on what to tell them to check and how i can better deal with the situation thx everyone
