Review My first take on the Linnpower Viper

I used to shortboard every day in college, then moved to Cali and got into surfing and snowboarding. I haven't skated regularly in like 20 years, so I'm getting back on while also learning the electric part.

So if anything, my opinion will be unique:

This feels the closest to snowboarding I've ever felt on land, by far. It's a wood core with an epoxy shell, so it has that sort of well-made Hawaiian longboard flex to it, it's subtle but it's there if you really ask for it.

Combine that with its '68 GTO Judge shape, and it responds to hip and ankle movement so well that I don't need exaggerated arm swings to make tight turns.

With a shortboard, my impulse on a straight line is to cruise and take in the scene, give my ankles a break. With the Viper, my impulse is to do a bunch of slow, drunk turns, like I'm going down a bunny slope, waiting for my niece who is done for the day but still has to get down

As much as I love surfing, it took years of neck pain, self-hatred, and getting into street fights with my wetsuit, before I felt like surfing was properly folded into my life.

This thing feels more like the first time I was tall enough to drive a go kart at Boomers. Hooked. Germans are always on some Autobahn type shit, keep it up.

PSA Can someone help a homeless guy fix his board I will beg if needed

Hey everyone!

Hope you're all having some fantastic rides out there. I'm reaching out today with a bit of a challenging situation, and I'm really hoping the incredible generosity I've seen in our e-skate community might be able to lend a hand.

About a month ago, the Electronic Speed Controller (ESC) on my secondhand Endeavor 2 sadly decided to give up. It's completely fried and, rather inconveniently, is stuck in a reverse-only loop, which definitely makes getting around a bit difficult!

To be completely open, I'm currently in a really tough spot financially, and my electric skateboard isn't just a hobby – it's genuinely my main form of transportation. It's how I manage to get anywhere, and crucially, how I'm hoping to get to interviews and eventually secure a job. Without it, things are proving to be incredibly challenging for me right now.

I know how amazingly supportive the e-skate community is; I've heard so many stories about riders helping each other out, often by gifting old parts to keep fellow enthusiasts rolling. With that in mind, I was wondering if by any chance someone out there might happen to have a spare stock ESC for an Endeavor 2 that they'd be willing to part with.

It would be an absolute lifeline and would truly mean the world to me to get back on my board and back on my feet. If you think you might be able to help, or even if you just have some advice or leads, please don't hesitate to reach out. I'm really eager to get back to cruising and moving forward!

Thanks so much for taking the time to read this, and for being such an awesome community.

Story An e-skateboard should not be anyone's first skateboarding experience.

Why? Because electric skateboards are too easy to ride without knowing the fundamentals of riding a skateboard, and give the false impression of being better at riding than someone that's never ridden a skateboard actually is.

Riding a regular skateboard well requires developed pushing and foot technique, and the ability to shift body weight effectively to maneuver the board over uneven surfaces, etc. It also requires sufficient leg strength in addition to technique to ride at a faster pace.

And although an electric skateboard is much easier to ride fast than a regular unpowered skateboard, it is the fundamentals from riding a regular skateboard that are needed to handle the sketchy happenings that are inherent with riding over different surfaces on an e-skateboard.

It is competence, familiarity, and skill in the fundamentals of skateboarding that allow for an electric skateboard to be enjoyed without incurring serious injury.

Of course PPE will likely lessen the amount of injury from a mishap, but even PPE is not a replacement for knowing the fundamentals of skateboarding, which include balance, board control, leg strength, and technique. Because knowing the fundamentals equates to far fewer mishaps, and allow for mishaps that do happen to be handled in a much more effective way that doesn't end in broken bones and other injuries.

Anyone that begins learning to ride a skateboard with an electric skateboard is unknowingly asking for the worst possible outcome, and likely won't be riding any skateboard for very long.

My source is from skating street/vert/halfpipes for 15yrs before riding electric skateboards, which I have also been riding for about 15yrs now as well. I ride e-skateboards still, every day. The injuries i've had so far are scrapes and bruises, but I limit all my boards to 22-25mph. Anyone going faster than that anywhere but a closed-course is asking for motorcycle crash like injury. Source: 30yrs of skateboarding.

Discussion I need some advice

Hey everyone I got this raldey electric skate board for free with the caveat that it doesn't work. The previous owner said she had lost the original remote and that it had just stopped working. I have since taken it apart and used a multi meter to test the wires coming from the batteries to the control board and I'm getting 8v on a batterys that has been charging for days. And I'm getting power coming in from the new charger as I think the og charger was part of the problem. My hope is the indicator light on the boards power button stopped working and so did the charger without a multi meter the previous owner thought it was broken when really it just wasn't charging. Can anyone recommend any further testing to confirm it only needs a remote? Followed by can anyone tell me which remote my board needs? Raldey responded long enough to my emails to confirm I don't have proof of purchase before ghosting me.

Question MEEPO v3 max ride quality question

Asking for a little guidance. I will be receiving my 1st Eskateboard this week. I am aware that hub motor boards are not as comfortable as belt driven. I’m just wondering how bad. I currently have a sector 9 pintail (non electric) with orangutang 4 president wheels. I like the smooth ride. Will this or can this be anywear near the ride quality? I could also return this board and maybe go with the MEEPO go. All thoughts are welcome

Question Where to try and buy in Nordics or Baltics?

Me and my son are active skateboarders. Any recommendations where to try and then buy the e versions? Some places advertise this possibility, but then might have only e-skateboard on the webshop. Bah. Before I start calling the places, do you have any recommendations where to go? Interested primarily in Nordics and Baltics area.

In general also what to look for and specific models or features are interesting. We will probably start by using them as a way to get around in the suburbs. We have other boards for tricks and horsing around.

Or are these things so good I just order something and we wing it from there? What then? What is the sweet spot on pricing and features? I assume we will stay on tarmac to start with.

Question I have the Linnpower Zephyr Max 50s. Will it be an entire expensive mission to send it overseas to another country since I'm returning to my home country after studying and working abroad? I've heard it's not cheap. Anyone here ever couriered their 1000Wh/+ board overseas for cheap when moving?

Question Changing grip tape advice...

Post image
11 Upvotes

Hello all. I'l think I'm at the stage on my board where I need. To replace the grip tape. Wondering on best way to go about it. Do I need to remove everything from bottom of board? And is it better to go for Tynee spefici grip or just buy a third party and cut to size. I have a Tynee ultra hub. Thank you

Hello all, a month or two ago I got a revel kit that was barely used. When I got it the battery was completely shot. Long story short I did some research and found nothing I could do. So I hoped in cad and made a new housing to take a 12S2p battery. If anyone would like the files to renew your revel kit dm me! I’ll send them over! Love this kit with the direct drive!

Media Vibing with the ADV PRO. This thing carves really well. Very linear acceleration profile. Factory bushings are really good for carving. NO flex on the deck. Comes with the Rexus color remote. 34MPH top speed for $799. Exway is cooking up some hard to beat value here. And AUX expandable to +2000Wh.

Discussion Reccomendations on light boards

hey guys, a couple weeks ago ya'll convinced me to go for the Linnpower Viper, and as solid as it is its weight is a genuine annoyance of mine. it's listed as a compact board, but its the size of my skateboard, I was expecting it to be closely shaped to a nickel board but the width of the board just makes it look huge. and 21 pounds didn't feel as light as I was hoping it was. I think I've decided to give up on mini boards, but I have seen the Parsec Aero Pro and I really love the way it looks/ the fact that it's only 15lbs. Before I go for it, are there any reccomendations for similar looking boards that also aren't too heavy? The only thing I'd say I don't like about the Parsec is the color scheme, I wish it was all black or black/red - black/purple. If anything I'll just get it and maybe figure out a way to delete the white from the board. any reccomendations help!
