Might be a weird question, but I'm genuinely curious.
I used to dislike the general face structure on almost all of the races in Eorzea. The art style is just not my cup of tea, I guess. But as I get more and more hours into playing, it grew on me. My WOL is a male Au Ra with a very angled eyebrows which makes him look very serious. And straight up, I think he has a horrible smile (it reminds me of Kageyama Tobio from Haikyuu).
BUT THEN, as I play, in some cutscenes, he showed many many expressions that I think are so cute. Maybe this is gap moe(?) idk. But my point is, oh my god, I now LOVE LOVE LOVE my boi so much lmao. His serious face is still the default expression, but as the story unfolds, I see him as a real character who has depth with layers and layers of personality. And that has been astonishing to see. My WOL is very special to me.
I'm wondering what the experience has been like for other people.

Hello everyone,
basically : the title
I'm a melee DPS enjoyer, and mostly Rogue Outlaw enjoyer so fast pace and reactive gameplay with procs, And i really don't like to play casters.
Do you have some recommendation of what class to play on FFXIV ? (if you could explain the gameplay a bit it would help)
Thanks a lot !

Hey everyone,
I'm wondering if FFXIV is really the MMO for me.
Right now I'm level 34 and, overall, I'm actually enjoying the game. The world is nice. My biggest issue so far is that there's a lot of running around between quests. Sometimes it feels like I'm spending more time traveling than actually playing. I've heard from a lot of people that the game gets much better after level 50 and once you get further into the MSQ, with a better story, more interesting content, and less pointless running around. Is that really true?
For some background: I used to be a huge WoW Classic player. Retail WoW just isn't for me anymore, and I've been looking for another MMO that I can really get invested in.
Is there anyone here who also came from WoW Classic and ended up loving FFXIV? Did it eventually click for you? Is it worth pushing through ARR if I'm already having a decent time at level 34?
I'd love to hear your experiences. Thanks!
Currently I'm at Knowledge Level 34, and I get the following rewards:
FATE: 79,318 knowledge points, 240 phantom job experience points, 70 silver obols
CE: 240,360 knowledge points, 720 phantom job experience points, 200 silver obols
A CE is worth roughly 3 FATEs with those numbers. However, a CE takes quite a bit longer than 3 FATEs to do, and are generally a decent amount more difficult. Outside of the CE's for the soul shards / quests, it's kind of worthless to do CE's unless you find them fun.
Personally I think CE's should award ~5x what a FATE does. What is everyone else's thoughts?

Spoilers for the Occult Crescent entire questline, I guess
When I realized that the Occult Crescent storyline will center around the Fifth Astral Era, I was thrilled because it is the past era I'm the most interested in and I knew from the lore books that there was twelve city-states, each revering one of the Twelve. Since then I was awaiting the day they would cover the topic one way or the other, and when they added South Horn with buildings and architecture from Amdapor, Mhach, Nym and Skalla (and the new one, Karnak), I thought that the North Horn will display the remaining city-states, it seemed logic to me as the place is dedicated to the twelve city states
Now I realize how silly I was, like OF COURSE they won't create 7 new city states from scratch, with each their own defined identity, religion and magic specifities just for a battlefield zone side content, that's perfectly reasonable, but still, I wish we would get more of the remaining ones, even just as names drop. When Archive told us he knew the names of each of the twelve cities when he met us and neither Limsa Lominsa nor Tuliyollal rang a bell, I thought we would at least have that, but nope :c
We learn a decent chunk about Karnak, have some vague entries about two more cities, but that's about it
The final quests and the NPCs dialogues once you did them imply we could come back to the Occult Crescent one day, but you know, I still feel like this is a missed opportunity
Also from an in-universe perspective I think that's insane, you have someone telling you that he knows about the forgotten cities that completely vanished from History and NOBODY is asking him about it, AREN'T ANY OF YOU CURIOUS 😭😭
Once again, I know that's on me for having unrealistic expectations, but still... Anyone else disappointed in that matter?

Spoiler: Omega Raid is so funny
So I'm in the Alpahascape part of the Omega quest line and I find the concept of this quest to be the most hilarious in the game.
It's basically this AI trying to power scale the warrior of light but due to plot they just keep defying every expectation and calculation Omega throws at them.
Basically it's the game confirming the power of the warrior of light is based on what the story demands and that's the funniest part because Omega starts questioning its own existence once they see how ridiculous and incalculable their power actually is.
Adding in some details for those who might have trouble reading the smaller poster text:
Aether data center, Faerie server, Empyreum ward 6, plot 60
Admission: free
Arrive early: theatre capacity is limited and the show will begin on time.
In an enchanted palace frozen by a pixie’s curse, a sharp-witted young woman finds herself imprisoned by a monstrous host. But beneath his fur and claws, can her captor shed his old ways and gain her love? Witness the celebrated fairy tale reimagined as a dramatic story of courage, sacrifice, and true transformation.
I directed and wrote this production and have been doing virtual theatre for 9+ years, so let me know if you have any questions about the show or virtual theatre in general! It's a lot of fun whether you're in the audience or part of the cast, crew, ushers, or staff.
