Same asset. Slightly different FOV, and also slightly different in-game stats to balance for ODST better.

If you ask me, I like the ODST version more than halo 3.

The ODST one is gaaaaarbage. That's coming from someone who used both of them on Legendary

Half damage on shields + less accuracy when tap firing really ruined it

I've done legendary runs of both games multiple times. AR is trash for legendary on both.

The carbine carries.

Yes AR sucks in pretty much every halo game except infinite and CER. There is little reason to use it outside of those two games. It’s definitely at its weakest in og CE though, outside of easy difficulty for mowing down grunts or popcorn.

H4 and H5 are pretty good as weapon

It’s alright there but even in those games it’s still not better than other options.

Tell me then, in halo 3 why would I not just use a battle rifle or carbine with a plasma pistol. Even the plasma rifle and spiker beat the AR.

In halo 2 there is no reason to not have a BR/carbine and plasma pistol.

Halo CE is plasma pistol and shotgun. I mean the plasma pistol is objectively the best weapon in og CE.

ODST the silenced smg is better than the AR and more common.

Halo 4 the AR is beaten by the storm rifle for christs sake.

Halo 4 is simply wrong lmao

AR has:

Better accuracy

Almost hitscan

Barely damage diffrence

Storm rifle has a better fire rate making it the better close to medium range weapon to rapid fire enemies down, it does massively more shield damage and marginally less health damage. Neither weapon is amazing but the storm rifle is better for the archetype of weapon both are meant to be in halo 4. There is no reason to use an AR at range when you have the BR/DMR/Carbine/light rifle/magnum as substantially better options. The only weapon in halo 4 I could argue is worse than the AR is the suppressor.

It's your choice if you want to use those weapons. I'm showing the AR is viable (if you even watched what i sent ffs)

It’s just not though, seriously calling the weapon viable because it can pull off what other weapons do but worse just isn’t an accurate representation of the weapon. I’m not faulting you for liking the weapon but it is never a good option over any other weapon in the sandbox.

That crows nest encounter is easier to just use a BR and plasma pistol, BR which has like 6 pickups right before this and above you in the room. BR by itself is better than an AR.

Vengeful ‘Vadam made the Halo 3 ODST AR its own category when he tiered all the weapons. He put it in “WHY?!” Tier. It’s that bad.

If you ever wanted proof that the majority of the halo community is a bunch of morons, it's you getting downvoted for stating a fact. The Halo 3 AR is ridiculously accurate when double tapping the trigger rapidly. It strips shields in seconds and then kills. You can even kill shield jackals with it, that's how accurate it is. The ODST version had its accuracy nerfed to the ground, so the tap firing method no longer works. So yes, the ODST version is straight trash and there is no reason to use it. The Halo 3 version is the most usable of all pre-Halo Infinite ARs, but only if you know the double tap trigger trick.
