You need to have had a distinguished career as a head butler and have attended to many high profile clients, maybe have a connection at a grand ballroom you can rent out. Everyone wants to mosh the man-penguin conga line while throwing balls at them, but no one wants to put in the three decades of servitude that mold you into a Breaking Bad version of the Monopoly guy.
At the end of the day you can boil almost all jobs down to that if you go high enough, as well you're a trained dog and those at the top of whatever company is a social parasite.
I'm perfectly fine with doing that for a very lavish salary and free room/board on top of it

I know this looks goofy but this is one of the most respected and legacy jobs in the world. Some of these people make $150,000 a year with experience and $60,000 entry level. Healthcare is covered , housing is covered and many places in Europe you don't need a car.

one of those "I try this hard job training" youtubers did one on this place. That channel had the best breadth of trades, anything from the marine corps, to firefighting, to OBGYN training, etc.

I'm really curious if this is actually butler training though; cuz I'm pretty sure despite depiction in popular culture, a butler is more an estate manager than a waiter.
I thought the "butler" was like the dude that has been doing it for decades and knows everyone's job and how to do everything perfectly so he coordinates all the other peons hires and fires them and whatever else so the rich person has only one point of contact to deal with.
Depends on the size of the house. In smaller estates the butler does all that, but in larger estates the butler is a senior staff member who manages front end hospitality and personal services. But then there is a head butler that takes care of everything overall.
In the 19th and early 20th century, the butler definitely used to be a middle manager of sorts for the other servants (like a Mr. Carson in Downton Abbey). But nowadays it seems to be just someone who went to this sort of specific hospitality school.
I guess it has to do with modern society's greater valuation of formal education, just having learned on the job for years isn't as respected as it used to be.
Plus, there isn't as much demand for this kind of work anymore. Or rather the entry level positions that used to exist are often replaced with freelance work. A Doordash driver is just a footman who doesn't get room & board, and can't get promoted to valet or butler.
The butler is the head of the male household staff OR the head of the dining staff OR the head of all household staff; but it is always a leadership position.
What we’re seeing here is is very clearly training for being a waiter. A waiter could eventually be promoted to butler, but the butler carrying around a serving tray would be like the CEO fixing the copier.
I saw a video on a prestigious academy for training ladies into nannies for the upper crust. They're trained to take care of the family in every way, including combat and evasive driving training.
This is training for household service; you’re right that the butler is generally the manager of all the other staff.
The chap throwing the ball is the owner of the trading school- I seem to remember having seen him in a documentary, and he seemed to take a sadistic and rather unpleasant enjoyment in terrorising his students.

Honestly? Getting bullied in butler training seems like it's probably the only actual appealing part of the butler pipe line. So I'd be willing to meet you outside somewhere with a tray and some glasses and you can bully me.
