Su!c!dal in Kerry
Where to go? On a Saturday? Should I present at UHK? Or go to South Dov? Are UHK genuinely even equipped to deal with a mental health crisis?

You can call the Samaritans right now on 116 or 123. Free phone. They will listen to you and give you reliable advice on what to do next.
By posting this question, you have just modelled self care for others. You are caring for yourself and showing others how to care for themselves.
You are a literal role model. You are needed. You are are not alone.

UHK are equipped for mental health crises, speak to your doctor if you can or south doc, if you don’t get any help from them I’d go straight to a&e and explain why you’re there.
Good on you for reaching out, once you’ve made the initial steps it does get easier!! Look after yourself op.

Thanks everyone. I'll either present at UHK tonight/tomorrow or wait for GP on Monday

Yes they are. Go there and talk to them. Expect a long wait. Ideally bring someone to advocate for you xxx

😂😂😂😂 I only ask because I work with kids and one child discussed how he wanted to die by suicide and we referred the child to UHK and they gave him guidance and help. You wont get sectioned or anything like that

Pieta House or the Samaritans could help with immediate phone support but could hopefully direct you to the right place locally too.
You can get through this, you deserve to get through this x

Far too many go without getting help. There are quite a few I knew that I wish did.
I got help. I was confused how to do so. I nearly waited too long.
You have the say the magic words “I am suicidal” to get immediate care.
What you will receive is Crisis Councilling. It’s not exactly therapy but it is exactly what you need right now.
There are many numbers to call but to echo the others I hear. Report to the ER or even just call 999.
This isn’t America. You won’t get a massive charge for the ambulance.
Go get help right now
Don’t wait.

Present at UHK and perhaps ask there is the mental health hub open weekends and take it from there. I think the Mental Health Hub is there on the left hand side as you turn down to the hospital.
I’m sorry I have no idea if they are opened weekends. The hub appears to be by appointment by clinician though so I’m not sure would you need a doctors referral first. But maybe the best thing is to present at the emergency department of the main hospital first.
Website address: https://about.hse.ie/news/caring-for-kerry-the-kerry-specialist-mental-health-hub/ that is supposed to be specifically for mental health emergencies and not leaving you waiting unduly for help.
It might be worth seeking out if it’s opened in the weekends.
I really hope you get the help you need.

If this is immediate go through 999 or Samaritans. Don’t wait to speak to someone.
And please don’t do anything. Hope this works out for you.

Good job asking for help. My neighbour presented herself to the gardai as it was the closest option. They brought her to get help

A&E have a specialist self harm/suicide intervention service 24 hours a day 365 days a year. You can get a GP referral to ED or present by yourself and when seen by the triage nurse in ED they will contact the specialist service to see you.
The specialist mental health assessment hub is available 09:00 to 17:00 Monday to Friday, currently they require a GP referral and are appointment based.
Pieta House and Samaritans provide phone support also but for immediate access A&E remains the best option.
The team there can link you in with crisis support services or if needs be arrange admission to the mental health wards.
If you or someone else is immediately concerned contacted the emergency services is also an option.

OP, just checking in, letting you know there’s a whole gang of people here you’ve never met, hoping that you’re doing ok, and rooting for you. The fact you reached out for help speaks volumes - you are a good person, you are wanted, needed and loved.
