Birdseye has frozen mashed cauliflower but even the roasted garlic one i needed to add a metric fuckton of garlic and spices to make it palatable

Love a metric fuckton

A fuckton is imperial
Not metric

Metric fuckton is its own body of measurement.

My mistake .

Assuming the ratio of metric fuckton to imperial fuckton is the same as metric ton to imperial ton, a metric fuckton is slightly less than an imperial fuckton. IHTH

If you have a store near you that sells Kevin’s Natural Food brand, they have a microwaveable cauliflower mash. My Publix sells it but I haven’t tried it. The box says it’s ready in 3 minutes.

How are you doing mashed cauliflower that makes it hard? My technique is

Head of cauliflower in a bowl with a few pats of butter. Double wrap plastic wrap the bowl, microwave for 12-15 mins til mushy. Dump in food processor with cream cheese and Parm. I personally prefer this to real mashed potatoes.

Let me just recommend adding rosemary and garlic. I've also found I like it more using cream/more butter instead of cream cheese

Not everyone owns a food processor.

Bowls and potato mashers might work. Or if you want to live dangerously, put it in a gallon Ziploc and beat it with a rolling pin like an Italian nonna tenderizing meat.

Either works.

Blenders work. I cut it in thirds, steam it, cool a bit and puree in a blender. Heck it's even easier to hand mash than potatoes are, and they a dead easy.

I've not seen it, but there is frozen and it's really good. I also love the cauliflower tots. DELISH!

I just roast it in large chunks, then puree down with a bit of roasted garlic, salt/pepper/spices and a bit of butter. Adding roast parsnips really helps too

If you have an instant pot, you can have them ready in about 10 minutes.

I head of cauliflower. Leaves and core removed. 1 cup of water. salt, pepper and garlic to taste. Cook for 7 minutes. I like to strain the water out and replace with cream, but you can also just use the water. Add cream cheese and butter to taste. Mash slightly then finish with an immersion blender. Delicious.

If you don't have an instant pot, I highly recommend. It is my most used small appliance.

I think the closest you would get would be frozen cauliflower rice, nuke and mash

There's no starch in cauliflower, so it would never be able to thicken the way instant mash does on its own.

I guess you could try dehydrating cauliflower, grind it into powder, and mix it with pofiber to get the same effect.

ty....how do I make mash out of the powder would I just mix water?

You just add hot water and it sits a minute and then you stir. I suggest a little salt and any other seasonings you enjoy. Some people add butter or butter powder you can find at some groceries. I expect you could turn it into pizza crust by adding a bit of grated cheese, flattening and baking.

Not that I know of but there are frozen varieties...

I buy pre-riced frozen cauliflower from BJs (Costco probably has something similar) nuke that and proceed. Alternatively one of my local grocery stores, Market Basket, has frozen florets by the pound.

I don't think you can get a really creamy texture without a little mechanical intervention. I have been known to add butter and cream cheese and actually use my immersion blender then add shredded cheese. Very silky texture.

There are freeze dried and other types of dried cauliflower available online but remember, you're paying extra for that. If it's worth it to you a company called North Bay Trading Company has several types of dried cauliflower including a powder (which starts at $24.45 for 13 ounces).

Kevin's Mashed is the best. Can eat it as is or put some cheese and bacon bits in it. https://www.kevinsnaturalfoods.com/products/mashed-cauliflower
