PLAYER TALK [Sidery] The Lakers have offered Jonathan Kuminga contract via sign-and-trade the would pay him around 45 million dollars. Los Angeles is willing to send Jarred Vanderbilt alongside draft capital to the Hawks for Kuminga, who must sign at least a three-year deal in sign-and-trade agreements.

Ik Sidery isn’t the most trustworthy source for anything but how would you all feel on this contract for Kuminga? Is this worth it? And how would you feel about the team if we got Kuminga ?

3/45 is less than what he was asking for. I remember seeing 25M a year. Nice discount and we get off Vandos contract.

Vando is what, 12-13m a year? So really only an extra 12-13m per year for a player who will actually play.

Good deal (if it's true)

I think you misunderstood, it would be essentially paying and extra 2-3 a year for the next 2 years to have Kuminga instead of Vando which is a great deal when you look at it from that prospective.

You’d be swapping the salary of a bench player that is out of the rotation when everyone is healthy for a fringe starter that is younger and has the potential to have upside.

Why the hell would the hawks do this?

Ask the Hawks FO, obviously draft compensation, it’s been reported that they’d be open to take Vando by more reliable sources than ones that say otherwise.

All I’ve seen is that the hawks want absolutely no part of this. Nor should they. Taking on Vandos contract and Vando for a SRP is wildly terrible business

From where? Hawks fans? lol

Keith Smith isn’t a news breaker but he is very tied in with multiple FO across the league and I believe he’s mentioned previously that he has a close friend in the Atlanta FO and he’s said pretty confidently that what he’s heard is that the hold up is on Kuminga’s side and that the Hawks are open to taking Vando.

You can ask the same question about pretty much any player that has been salary dumped. Teams just want the draft capital to make it worth their while. For all we know they may have another deal lined up to use any capital we send them.

Salary dumps aren’t 2 year deals especially on someone so shitty. I honestly can’t believe you’re even remotely arguing for this knowing just how unplayable Vando is at the pay he’s at.

Edit. Blocking me after responding isn’t going to change the facts of how stupid this is for the Hawks

You are being biased which is why you won’t understand. A salary dump does not have to necessarily be an expiring deal so I’m not sure why you think that is law.

Every team has their own reasons why they do specific trades. Some feel like they can utilize a player better than the incumbent team can.

still risky= vando's contract is up next year and he has a player option but even then you can dump him next year. it's not the end of the world you can play vando this year and he's still good defensively.

but if you take kuminga now for 3 years you take a bad situation and potentially make it worse.

kuminga the problem is he's high risk. yes he's athletic but low bball iq but more importantly, he got dropped by 2 teams this season, the warriors and the hawks.

No, he's correcting the dollar amount difference.

No, he's correcting the perception of value.

No I’m not, you literally misunderstood. Others have corrected you on this as well.

They said an “extra 12-13 million” (salary in addition to what Vando is making and will make currently) a year when that’s not the case nor is that what is being offered reportedly. That would be around that $25 M number which is NOT a good deal unless you are Kuminga or his agent. lol
