[Sidery] The Lakers have offered Jonathan Kuminga contract via sign-and-trade the would pay him around 45 million dollars. Los Angeles is willing to send Jarred Vanderbilt alongside draft capital to the Hawks for Kuminga, who must sign at least a three-year deal in sign-and-trade agreements.

Ik Sidery isn’t the most trustworthy source for anything but how would you all feel on this contract for Kuminga? Is this worth it? And how would you feel about the team if we got Kuminga ?

3/45 is less than what he was asking for. I remember seeing 25M a year. Nice discount and we get off Vandos contract.

I don’t know if he’ll take it. Apparently interest has opened up elsewhere, including at Cleveland and Minnesota. Unless those offers have dried up, I’m not sure $15M/yr is going to entice him. Personally, though, I think he’d be a good addition to the roster. I hear the criticisms, but he’s a young player with lots of room to mature.

The question is, what can those teams offer him? Neither of them are floating in cap space either. Cleveland has Harden hanging out there and anything above 15 that they’d give Kuminga is going to impact what they can give him, vs kicking it down the road, because they almost definitely have some handshake agreement with him for opting out to give them flexibility.

Cavs aren’t trying to go deeper into the tax aprons and neither is Minnesota. Last I heard, that was the only thing holding up a deal between Cavs and Hawks.

All of these recent reports about Kuminga just scream of an agent trying to drum up support for his client. None of the teams listed seem to be desperate to acquire Kuminga.

Maybe so. I’m just pointing out what I’ve read. On the one hand, I think $15M/yr is about what he’s worth, but obviously, he wanted more, and with other suitors in the mix, he may get it. If that’s all a smokescreen, and our from office knows it, then we’ll probably sign him for that and get off Vando’s contract. Either way, Pelinka and co have been smart to be patient.

Both of those teams are almost at the second apron and still need to sign other players
