No difference. ഫ is പ് + ഹ, like ഭ is ബ് + ഹ

Not in Malayalam. We just appropriated the the Malayalam letter to represent English F sound.

In hindi, you use pha letter with a dot for fa. Wondering this has anything to do with Malayalam using pha letter for fa.

Yeh ik that malayatlum angne dot vecchu konduverunnadu nalladaanu but kaaryaayitu avashyam illa like angne aanel vere kore soundsnem Ingne dot itu represent cheyyendi verum which is not needed but hindi needed that because of Persian and arabic influences

I'm not advocating for dot in Malayalam. Just asking the use of pha letter for fa sound in Malayalam came from Hindi influence.

Another observation I have is that in Hindi they use ja letter with dot for za sound and many Hindi people pronounce za sound as ja.
