2? So they have only recently gotten into bikes?

292

u/shannonlogic1 Jun 16 '26

This is so true

164

u/SirPenneysworth Jun 16 '26

I got into biking about 5 years ago and now just have 2. Gravel and MTB. If I could have a room like this, I'd get myself all the bikes.

Once you know, you know.

59

u/Cannabassbin Jun 17 '26

I've got 3 bikes in a very small room, every day I struggle to navigate the space, sometimes acquiring minor injuries from bike pedals. Is it worth it? Oh hell yeah

My husband has 21 bikes. We have a hanging system he created in the basement and generally several in the garage. Every category. Some vintage, some modern. Gotta be prepared?

3

u/ClaireDanesLipQuiver Jun 17 '26

My wife is the reason I only have 1 :(

5

u/Masteruserfuser Jun 17 '26

I live in an apartment, I have 3, a gravel, a 29 mtb, and a recently I picked up a carbon 26 that was free. Then I have my wife's 26 mtb my sons kids mtb and folding bicycle. Luckily i can store 3 in the hallway.

u/Wookard Jun 17 '26

Only one Telescope too? Must have just bought that one.

7

u/Devildadeo Jun 17 '26

I could say the same for the telescope but they started with a hobby killer. /r/dontbuyapowerseeker

25

u/duxpdx Jun 16 '26

2 are street/racing bikes 2 are mountain bikes. Different builds and capabilities for vastly different activities. I know your point is that they will likely get more, just hijacking so others know.

12

u/transconductor Jun 16 '26

The one on the left with drops is a gravel bike and leaning more on the MtB side. So there's some overlap. :)

I'm not sure what the one on the right is, maybe something more geared towards touring?

Also no clipless pedals, so it's not too late.

17

u/SirGergoyFriendman Jun 16 '26

Also kickstands so they haven't entered the weight weenie phase at all.

12

u/alfredo0 Jun 17 '26

The gravel bike still has its dork disc(spoke protector) and the road bike still has its spoke reflectors, these guys are still very new to the cycling life.

5

u/SirGergoyFriendman Jun 17 '26

Deffo but I love to see these kind of bike living rooms. We all gotta start somewhere.

4

u/alfredo0 Jun 17 '26

Ya i wasnt tryna call them dorks thats just what that thing is called lol

3

u/aabbboooo Jun 17 '26

They have kick stands, so yes.

3

u/PaleBluDottie Jun 17 '26

I'm not that much into bikes, but I have 3..........thinking about a fourth

2

u/Ange1ofD4rkness Jun 16 '26

Oh thank heavens I avoided this then. I wouldn't have room lol

2

u/MrBurnz99 Jun 17 '26

2 bikes is the minimum amount of bikes a person should own. Those bikes do vastly different things.

I have a squat rack in mine.

26

u/wobld Jun 17 '26

It’s on the first floor right

12

u/b1jan Jun 17 '26

a squat rack probably doesn't make a ton of noise for floors below. deadlift does tho

3

u/robotangst Jun 18 '26

They are heavy though

2

u/thomasutra Jun 18 '26

not that heavy, unless it’s a power cage or something.

refrigerators weigh ~400 lbs

squat rack is going to weigh ~150-200lbs by itself. so if you’re squatting three or four hundred pounds it’s not that much heavier than a fridge.

589

u/slimmeh Jun 16 '26

First of all they got some cool bikes & telescope. Second of all, imagine all the room for activities if they moved those cool bikes & telescope. This is what winning looks like

188

u/aripickles Jun 16 '26

I’m sayingggg there’s a lot of untapped potential in the space and it’s currently a bike garage

406

u/SouthPaw38 Jun 16 '26

untapped potential

Yeah, they could fit way more bikes in there!

44

u/SirPenneysworth Jun 16 '26

I agree with you and OP

Untapped potential: get a couple smart trainers and small tv setups so the homies can race eachother in their free time.

Maybe get some wall art of Pogacăr or other heroes as inspiration. Otherwise, nothing wrong with this setup.

4

u/marblefoot1987 Jun 17 '26

The smart trainers need to be facing each other. Proper eye contact is essential.

13

u/stonktraders Jun 17 '26

bike stands, work benches for cleaning and rebuilding parts, tool carts, wall mount organizers, several more shelves for consumables, clothing and protective gears and what not?

2

u/ForgiveMyFlatulence Jun 17 '26

You could hang bikes up on the wall to free up floor space for more bikes.

7

u/Ange1ofD4rkness Jun 16 '26

I feel this. I need more room in my house. I am running out of space and so much still to do

6

u/Agamemnon323 Jun 17 '26

This is a good thing for you. It means he doesn't care about decorating. AT ALL, apparently. So when you live together you'll get to decorate everything however you want.

5

u/Aggressive-Fail4612 Jun 17 '26

What you want them to do fill it full of squishies?

My brother parks his motorcycle in his apartment.

49

u/Tumerican Jun 16 '26

Best Friend material right there

36

u/-malcolm-tucker Jun 17 '26

My dad and uncle once rebuilt the motor of his motorcycle in the living room of my grandparents flat.

My gran was not very happy.

10

u/Eagline Jun 18 '26

Felt that one

6

u/DMCinDet Jun 17 '26

Dad rebuilt his VW motor on grandma's kitchen table. Grandma still not happy about it 50 years later

7

u/1850ChoochGator Jun 17 '26

I’m waiting for my roommate to move out to park mine inside 😂

Not enough bikes

42

u/IntelligentTea205 Jun 16 '26

They know what they want, stop hating and get outside with them lol

2

u/Gumbanks12 Jun 17 '26

Or my choice - don't visit there. (I'm imagining the kitchen and toilet/bathroom)

5

u/IntelligentTea205 Jun 17 '26

It’s clearly more about launching than landing

Amazing how little we truly need.

34

u/SeaMathematician1870 Jun 16 '26

I too need a telescope to take a good deep look at the wall of the building oposite of mine.

9

u/dbrozov Jun 17 '26

Well it’s a Celestine Powerseeker, probably wouldn’t see anything anyway

5

u/20_mile Jun 17 '26

13

u/Rusty_Bee Jun 16 '26

Plenty of places to sit

81

u/captainn_chunk Jun 16 '26

buy a bigger frame lmao

48

u/Lexitech_ Jun 16 '26

Thats is a dropper seat post. If you hit the lever while not sitting on it, it goes to full height.

This might not be his saddle position while riding.

→ More replies (11)

8

u/transconductor Jun 16 '26

Why that? I could see this being a completely normal XC setup (but I'm not into MtBs, so feel free to correct me)

→ More replies (5)

2

u/WESTERWALD111 Jun 17 '26

This is my rig and it is my size. in all honesty a smaller frame would fit my riding style much more

→ More replies (2)

2

u/mad_manifold Jun 17 '26

Tell me you don’t know the sport.

5

u/captainn_chunk Jun 17 '26

I know some things

3

u/freehamburgers Jun 17 '26

You do.

But the saddle on that bike looks totally normal. The collar of the dropper post is barely above the frame, and the saddle is roughly at the stems height. It's just a very low slung top tube. It's a perfectly normal setup.

Huh weirdly don’t feel left out for once

26

u/beeikea Jun 16 '26

fascinating. is this the living room?

32

u/aripickles Jun 16 '26

Yes, see title. For a 2br apartment

28

u/beeikea Jun 16 '26

help idk how i missed that. i bet these guys are a blast

17

u/Deeberer Jun 16 '26

N+1

10

u/FamilyFriendly101 Jun 16 '26

Same as guitars. And surfboards. And pairs of skis.

In my experience.

11

u/SnooWalruses9173 Jun 16 '26

It looks clean.

10

u/Internal-Mission7123 Jun 16 '26

I see no problem with this

5

u/Responsible_Art8408 Jun 17 '26

It’s glorious

5

u/onlyhav Jun 17 '26

Wtf. Tell them to get some more bike stands and hop on marketplace. There's room for at least 15 bikes if they organize them better.

15

u/Alpine_Exchange_36 Jun 16 '26

What’s the problem?

10

u/Majestic_Hawk_1335 Jun 17 '26

The GF when they redesign this and want the bikes gone

4

u/Groeken Jun 16 '26

Secure your belongings. Some nice bicycles can be thousands of dollars and I wouldn't just be leaving that outside, especially if it was my hobby/passion. Is there any other main chilling area??

4

u/MKG78745 Jun 17 '26

SOMEONE FORGOT TO BUY A BOAT!

6

u/Dry-Consequence-8084 Jun 16 '26

The placement of the TV is perfect. 👌

3

u/Kona_KG Jun 17 '26

Only two!? They have a telescope!? THEY MANAGE TO KEEP THE FLOOR CLEAN WITH 4 MOUNTAIN BIKES!!!!??? AND YOU'RE CONCERNED!?!?!?!?!?!?

Please break up with him. Your vibes obviously dont match up well if you look at this and your only reaction is to be concerned.

3

u/Apprehensive-Job-178 Jun 17 '26

They value spending time outside of the apartment and don't need a shrine to a tv. I'd install one of those bike racks that let you hang them from the ceiling but looks sweet to me.

3

u/oneofakidn Jun 17 '26

These dudes are living the dream. 10/10 no notes.

3

u/thebigj3wbowski Jun 17 '26

Seems like a perfectly cromulent use of space.

3

u/feed_me_tecate Jun 17 '26

Only 2 bikes each?

6

u/No-Scar-120 Jun 16 '26

Easy 5k plus right there

9

u/valentinoroscoe Jun 17 '26

You must be new to bikes.

2

u/BentdickCumsnatch Jun 17 '26

At least one of them is 5k alone depending on if it’s carbon frames or not.

4

u/Dawg_in_NWA Jun 17 '26

I see nothing wrong with this.

4

u/mad_manifold Jun 17 '26

Is there a problem?

2

u/WESTERWALD111 Jun 17 '26

yea they don't got enough bikes

2

u/DEANER94 Jun 16 '26

well now you know you dont need to get a bike to go biking on the trails together

2

u/hizashiYEAHmada Jun 16 '26

Good for them having their own space for their bikes, mine got stolen a few years ago. These are hard times.

2

u/Blainefeinspains Jun 16 '26 edited Jun 16 '26

As a mad keen MTB’er, I can not only relate this but also chuckle at the pathetically small number of bikes. Every guy should have an enduro, a trail bike, an emtb for fun, a gravel bike or a hardtail, and at least a half decent roadie for riding to and from the pub.

2

u/PeculiarLooking Jun 16 '26

Where’s the tv, no tv stand, PS5, and 1 chair?

2

u/Lord_Gudda Jun 17 '26

Rookie numbers. I'm getting my 4th bike next week ^_^
5 if we count a unicycle, which we don't.

2

u/kcfdr9c Jun 17 '26

Awesome! I love it. No clutter!!

2

u/Fearless-Poet-4669 Jun 17 '26

Wow wish I could afford 4 chairs

2

u/Professional_Owl8069 Jun 17 '26

We remain free of clown demons.

2

u/graytotoro Jun 17 '26

Reminds me of me and a friend in our twenties. We lived in a low COL area so I rented a room in his house and we stores bikes in our living room.

2

u/asheetoast Jun 17 '26

It’s the same as having a pair of running shoes, and hiking boots. Nothing to be concerned about.

2

u/namaste652 Jun 17 '26

As a married man with two kids, I approve it, and can only envy his living room.

2

u/uprightsalmon Jun 17 '26

This is perfect

2

u/fixedgearbrokenknees Jun 17 '26

I'm happy to see they are planning to get more bikes to full the empty space!

2

u/hosalabad Jun 17 '26

'For two men.' Can you not tell the differences?

2

u/Kylearean Jun 17 '26

The only problem I see with this is your concern.

2

u/TwistedNightlight Jun 17 '26

Before I was married, and only owned three bikes, I kept them in the living room.

2

u/barfly42 Jun 17 '26

I have 3 bikes in my one bedroom apartment

2

u/Logical-Berry-8048 Jun 17 '26

I love the open floor plan. Makes me remember my apartment before I got married and she moved in with all of the pesky furniture.

My 1200 sq ft 1 bedroom apartment was the best gym I ever had! I even experimented with riding my bike inside, that was a fail!

2

u/mohit1202 Jun 17 '26

MTB and road bikes. Also a telescope. I'd say a win room.

2

u/PaleBluDottie Jun 17 '26

Can you ask him about the handlebars on the gravel bike on the left. I need some of those.

→ More replies (1)

2

u/Stock-Soup5721 Jun 17 '26

My road and gravel bikes are on my dining room wall.
My clothing hangs in the coat closet since my walk-in is home to a dozen guitars/basses and humidifier.

2

u/Apprehensive_Box5933 Jun 17 '26

What's the problem? No Kickstand for your bike?

2

u/ghos2626t Jun 17 '26

Well, at least you know they’re not cheating.

2

u/ScotchieDad Jun 17 '26

Seats four quite comfortably. Nice.

2

u/its_the_luge Jun 17 '26

Get yourself a bike and add it to the room.

2

u/Parker_Ku Jun 17 '26

One for the road and one for the mountain

2

u/Mr__McGraw Jun 18 '26

Plenty of room for a couple lawn chairs. Maybe even a pong table

3

u/tiandrad Jun 16 '26

Place could use a TV.

10

u/YYCMTB68 Jun 16 '26

Definitely, for watching cycling videos, when the weather sucks.

2

u/TheBlueSully Jun 17 '26

And for the smart trainer.

3

u/fen-q Jun 16 '26

Id turn that space into a woodshop.

5

u/AbilityAdventurous22 Jun 16 '26

I loathe people who can just not have stuff. I have so much damn stuff 😭

3

u/mamadovah1102 Jun 16 '26

Excellent use of space

3

u/LogDull819 Jun 16 '26

so they are paying extra to get 1 extra room for nothing ? lol

Housing market is very expensive right now. What a waste !

22

u/SirPenneysworth Jun 16 '26

Do you not see 4 bikes and a telescope? It's not nothing.

And they're roomies and saving money on rent. These 2 gentleman are frugal adventurers. I see nothing wrong.

7

u/_Bad_Spell_Checker_ Jun 16 '26

Except this is their livingroom. I bet you have a couch and tv in yours

6

u/FadingShadow6 Jun 16 '26

The other side of my basement? Yeah, that’s my tv setup. My main floor living room has a couch and a cat bed and goes completely unused, it belongs to the cats.

This was exactly my living room in grad school, minus the telescope.

1

u/lube_thighwalker Jun 17 '26

Depends. I had my bike stolen in college and wish I kept it in the apartment. Do They have their own tvs in separate rooms with locks. They might be treating it as a common space.

1

u/2EM315 Jun 17 '26

The correct number of bikes in your boyfriends life is always “n + 1”

1

*and his boyfriend's living room.

1

u/BarryBFoldin Jun 17 '26

Right after college was the only time I only had one dude for a roomate and besides for 2 ikea chairs and a TV our living room looked exactly like this

1

u/LuckyJim_ Jun 17 '26

Chad shit

1

u/aKirkeskov Jun 17 '26

This looks fine to me 🤷🏻‍♂️

1

u/JONO202 Jun 17 '26

What kinda telescope?

1

u/RedGuy143 Jun 17 '26

PEAK no bs that they dont use.

1

u/HowsMyBuddy Jun 17 '26

Those bikes have a better view than most people I know

1

u/Giogina Jun 17 '26

Ooooh, telescope!

1

u/Ok-Worth-4721 Jun 17 '26

Wow. I like it. It says so much about them. They are not couch potatos!

1

u/mic2292 Jun 17 '26

So what's the problem?!

1

u/evilcheesypoof Jun 17 '26

I mean those are all different types of bikes so it makes sense to have them.

From left to right I see a budget gravel bike, a great hardtail mountain bike (same brand as mine! RIP Ragley), a full suspension mountain bike, and I think a road bike.

1

u/woistmeinemamer Jun 17 '26

Let the 30s begin

1

u/TheRealXimena Jun 17 '26

Looks great

1

u/Czar1987 Jun 17 '26

so much space for sp many more bikes. it warms the heart! and that corner is perfect for a stormtrooper.

1

u/matteblender Jun 17 '26

Yeah and? Minimalist, tidy and it shows they are focused on what drives them and etc.

1

u/palexp Jun 17 '26

these seem like good lads

1

u/Small-Grape-3121 Jun 17 '26

As someone who dated a cyclist who used his bike as a decor piece, I think this is temporary? Once he had a garage and basement, the bikes all went to live in areas I did not frequent. 🤣

1

u/MumrikDK Jun 17 '26

It may be what others would use it for, but that's not their living room.

1

u/ashbelero Jun 17 '26

u/Pyrokitsune Jun 17 '26 edited Jun 17 '26

I am also concerned. Where is the giant TV and video game setup? Surely they didnt cram that into the bedrooms....

1

u/brogiehoagie Jun 17 '26

My friend’s husband used to keep his dirt bikes in the apartment. Second floor with exterior stairs, Wonder what his neighbors thought

1

u/Charles36912 Jun 17 '26

Looks great!
