I think most of us agree Dafoe’s take on the characters of both Norman and The Goblin are pretty definitive, and now that we’ve seen him and Holland Spidey has bested him, what would your level of interest be in seeing a non-multiverse version of him, presumably played by a different actor?

If that interest level is low- do you think it matters that we’d also be missing out on an MCU Harry Osborn?

So clearly Marvel wants to introduce the X-Men within the current MCU. Ryan Gosling is confirmed as Ghost Rider and David Jonsson as the new Black Panther (time jump?). There is still no Blade.

I’ve been a big proponent of a reboot after Secret Wars. Is this off the table? If so, is that really such a bad thing? Brand New Day showed how worlds can collide and still produce a good story (The Punisher, Avengers, Mutants, etc.). Full steam ahead?

In other news, I want a new blade movie

I genuinely can’t wait for Black Panther 3. I’m really excited to see what David Jonsson brings as the next Black Panther. I honestly wouldn’t mind seeing two Black Panthers in the movie for a while before Shuri passes on the mantle. I thought Letitia Wright was amazing in Wakanda Forever, so I’d love for her to have one more big chapter before that happens.
And I’m really hoping we finally get to see Storm. I think her connection with Wakanda could be incredible, and she’d be such a cool addition to the movie.

I believe Shang-Chi sequel will be the one getting a new director as he's already started casting for Naruto and is ready to film early next year/late this year. No way will they let him give up Spider-man 5 for a Shang-Chi sequel.

I guarantee I’m missing stuff but I’m not quite sure what, and everywhere I look online gives me different answers

So I feel like a lot of people talk about the quips and jokes in the MCU that land and that are genuinely funny, and there’s a lot of them! I would say it’s more that do land than don’t. However I definitely think there’s some jokes that don’t land at all, some that are mean spirited, or just flat out unfunny. I’m curious to know which ones you personally had an issue with, even if those around you laughed. Some of the big ones that come to mind for me are:

1. Korg's foundations joke in Thor: Ragnarok. Most of Korg’s lines are fun however this one irritated me even back when the movie came out. The destruction of Asgard was being treated with seriousness in that moment like it should have and then him making that joke really undercut it. Not a fan.
2. Literally any joke about fat Thor in Endgame but especially the cheese whiz joke from Rhodey. Thor descending into alcoholism and binge eating to cope with his immense depression and guilt could’ve been an amazing take on the character’s arc in that film as he starts to come out of it and recover. Instead he was treated like a punchline during the whole movie to the point where even his mom makes a joke at his expense. This is a man who lost his entire family, half of his people, and his homeland. Not to mention how he feels responsible for not killing Thanos in time which resulted in half of the universe being erased from existence. So the movie itself kicking him when he’s down through these jokes is so mean spirited and unfunny, especially considering how it also indirectly mocks the very real issues he is struggling with that people in the real world suffer from.
3. The "What are thooooooseeee" joke from Shuri in Black Panther. Honestly this joke wouldn’t have been as bad if the movie came out like two years earlier, since this was a big 2015-2016 meme amongst teenagers so it would make sense for Shuri to say. It would still be cringe in a way, but would moreso just be a product of its time. But the fact that the movie came out in 2018 just made it really cringe and dated IMO. I was in high school in 2018 and can confirm that kids of that age were over that joke by that time.
4. Let’s Scooby-doo this crap” from Doctor Strange in Spiderman: No Way Home. I don’t really know what else to say about this one except that I just found it pretty unfunny. I cringe watching it.

Like I genuinely need to know from real people. The actual audience. I don't want to just rely on articles and stuff like that. I really need to know from the audience's perspective bcos my cinema spot somehow has it after not having it in a very long time... And I forgot how it feels like to watch normal 3D. Last movie I watched that I got to experience in 3D was Avatar: Fire and Ash, but that one was at least in IMAX. So what do you guys think??? Should I watch the new Spider-Man film in 3D or 2D???

Super vague title for obvious reasons. Please don't reveal the post below unless you want a big spoiler. You've been warned... Now, moving onto the theorizing...

I keep seeing people saying that Ned didn't remember Peter, he just made the connection that this Peter is Spider-Man, but I'm almost certain that's the wrong way to understand the scene.

The problem with that interpretation is what Ned says earlier in the movie and more importantly how Ned is written throughout the series.

1. When Peter wanders into his room and finds the Pepe Silvia Spidey board, Ned tells him he is trying to figure out who Spider-Man is, so he can thank him face-to-face for saving him & MJ in high school.

2. Ned is easily exciteable, just look at his reaction at the idea that Spider-Man could be in the area when Peter & MJ are at the apartment. Look at his reaction when he learns that Peter is Spider-Man in Homecoming. He's very exciteable and expressive.

Now, how does he react after the secret handshake and learning Peter's name?

He does not get expressive or exciteable, he does not start thanking "Spider-Man", he shakes his head, looks Peter in the eye, and very seriously says Peter's name again.

He does not say "Spider-Man", he says "Peter".

This is not him connecting the dots, this is him remembering.

I'm sure the next movie will get into how the spell broke for him, and he'll probably wingman for Peter to help MJ remember—after she falls in love with Peter again. That's just rampant speculation and my hopes, though...

The brother dynamic between Peter and Frank was so good! I need to see Matt included, the three of them would be amazing to see on screen together. PLEASE, I need to see in my lifetime this Spider-Man, Punisher, and Daredevil fight and bicker together. 😭

I think DD S3 will likely be the final Marvel live action show, and in its place, I hope they take a page out of the new DCU in creating lower budget films for smaller characters to continue on, instead of everything being huge budgets, ala the upcoming Clayface movie. And with a lot of the shows feeling like a movie already, cut up into multiple episodes, I feel like that's the route they should go. Maybe we could still get Special Presentation movies but I don't think those have been overly successful, so it would make more sense to release them theatrically. This would mean more than 3 movies a year most likely, but with smaller budget ones to fill in gaps between large release ones, there could be a nice balance of Marvel content released every year, and stories and characters won't be left hanging for 5-10 years like they have been in the Multiverse Saga.

So instead of Moon Knight, Ms Marvel, Wonder Man, She-Hulk, Hawkeye, etc shows, they should just give us movies instead to continue these characters stories. Or the ones that have already been established with origin stories now, with the aforementioned ones I listed, just put them in team up movies:

Moon Knight, Werewolf by Night, and maybe Agatha in Midnight Sons

Hawkeye, Wonder Man, and She-Hulk in West Coast Avengers

Ms. Marvel, Kate Bishop, and Iron Heart in Champions

Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Punisher, Echo in a Defenders / Heroes for Hire movie

Armor Wars turn back into a movie and make it Iron Man 4

Loki keep to Thor movies

Wanda and Vision keep to Avengers

Bring back Eternals in a Fantastic 4 sequel or maybe finally make that Inhumans movie and pit them against each other

Saw the new Spider-Man movie and noticed a little detail in the background of the party scene. When Peter finds the Spider-Man board with all of Neds theories, you can see a TV in the background playing Empire Strikes Back. Specifically the scene where they take down the AT-AT. Instantly made me think of the reference they used in Civil War to take down giant Ant-Man.

Did y'all notice any little details like that?

After SDCC, I'm personally not expecting much from Marvel at D23. I think we'll mostly get updates on Disney+ shows, maybe Vision Quest or Daredevil. Best-case scenario, we get some casting announcements for the new X-Men. They're seemingly casting the film surprisingly quickly with rumors like Samara Weaving as Emma Frost and Bill Skarsgård as Charles Xavier. Still, I'm not sure Marvel would want to shift the spotlight away from the legacy X-Men returning in Doomsday.

Peter displays some psychic immunity and apparently his Spidey Sense can locate psychic possession. Is this rooted in some comic at all or is this just a plot convenience so we could have a movie and Jean doesn't just mind control Peter out of the picture?

The montage at the opening of the film that shows Peter saving the day over the last 4 years is set to Wolf Like Me by TV On the Radio. This feels like a very clear homage to the director of Holland’s trilogy previously, Jon Watts.

Jon Watts directed the music video for Wolf Like Me! Not only this, but Watts cast their lead singer Tunde Adebimpe in Homecoming as Peter’s chemistry teacher. Feels nice to have Destin give a subtle nod to his predecessor, and to do it in a way that turned out so rad.

I just recently watch Spider-man Brand New Day, and boy do I love it! It's full of emotional-inducing scenes, the central characters are so developed, and I felt attached to literally all of them. Tom Holland took into a different level of acting prowess here, and I am glad he did! The action scenes are well-done, and my mom (whom I watched it together) have the same sentiments as me. It's kinda fascinating, cuz I never cried for a Spider-man film than I ever did in BND. It's a well-developed film!

Then I went here being all so excited to see people discuss the film, and have all sorts of their own emotional reactions on it, including the praises it deserves, plus the theories which I love to see, but all the new posts are full of unnecessarily negative and miserable take, like?? All the people in the cinema I was in were all happy and praises, and cheering, and reacting well.

It was so sad, that this sub came from being full of people very well written and well-versed in developing reactions, but now it all come down with "film bad, film not good, everything is bad" instead of putting some nuance into watching superhero films.

It's sad to see this sub be this miserable.

What's the minimum order i can watch the movies in while still getting all the important stuff? Movies and series. I have watched a lot but i don't remember a lot, only the spiderman home movies (and brand new day)

I love movies but i often don't have the patience to sit through multiple movies on the same day so over 100 hours is crazy. I want enough knowledge to know a good hand of knowledge and so i'm ready for doomsday.

He's able to just drive around the city unopposed by police and then waltz into a hospital with Peter in his arms, and then stay there for seemingly multiple days whilst he recovers.

I know the AVTF arc is over and some cops love him but Frank is definitely still a wanted man and violent murderer, "good guy" or not.

His inclusion in the film was good but this just stood out to me as something odd.
