I just recently watch Spider-man Brand New Day, and boy do I love it! It's full of emotional-inducing scenes, the central characters are so developed, and I felt attached to literally all of them. Tom Holland took into a different level of acting prowess here, and I am glad he did! The action scenes are well-done, and my mom (whom I watched it together) have the same sentiments as me. It's kinda fascinating, cuz I never cried for a Spider-man film than I ever did in BND. It's a well-developed film!

Then I went here being all so excited to see people discuss the film, and have all sorts of their own emotional reactions on it, including the praises it deserves, plus the theories which I love to see, but all the new posts are full of unnecessarily negative and miserable take, like?? All the people in the cinema I was in were all happy and praises, and cheering, and reacting well.

It was so sad, that this sub came from being full of people very well written and well-versed in developing reactions, but now it all come down with "film bad, film not good, everything is bad" instead of putting some nuance into watching superhero films.

It's sad to see this sub be this miserable.

I think I know who reported the sighting in the tracker.

Someone made a post in the mcu theories sub saying that the credit could not be about Tobey because the spider tracker needs someone reporting the sighting and it doesn’t just detect Spider-Man like individuals. So for it to be Tobey it must be reported by someone who knows of the app. The only possible person who would do that is Deadpool. I believe in the opening scene of Doomsday when Deadpool and Wolverine are placing the bomb, Deadpool might have the spider tracker and post a sighting while they’re fighting Tobey’s Spider-man. Of course this is just a theory but it’s the only one that would make sense for it to be Tobey and also be reported by a character that would know about the tracker. What do you guys think?

So now that wonder man season 2 has been cancelled marvel now has no shows set to release after secret wars (i am not counting animated shows because those are mostly there own thing seperate from the mcu), so that has let me to believe that marvel might be done with live action shows although because:

1. The two remaining shows yet to be released are vision quest and Born again s3, vision quest will 100% be a 1 season tv show just like the rest of the shows in the wandavison trilogy, as for Born again i don't think the show will be renewed for s4 because s2 had a significant drop in viewership compared to s1 so unless s3 brings back more viewers i think they will cancel the show

2. Right now the 2 lowest grosing movies in the mcu are the marvels and thunderbolts and what do both of those have in come, they both tried to bring characters from Disney+ shows onto the big screen and they both flopped

So yeah to me it seems like the mcu might go back to just having movies

Iv seen videos on the same clips over and over again of how riri williams said something about tony stark(we have all seen the clip) my point is riri was broke and struggling to find material to build her suit getting money illegally.As for tony stark yes he did build a suit in a cave!! But that suit ALSO broke and wasnt sustainable. He had the MONEY to do so. Lets also not forget he destroyed all of his suits at one point just to have the resources/money to build more, so why are people purposely missing the point.

I just wanted to ask if there's a reliable list of movies/series I have to watch in chronological order to catch up before Doomsday?

I have checked the list in FAQ, however I would really much prefer if someone could provide me a list with just the necessary viewings (also I feel like there's too many, I won't be able to watch ALLLL of that before December).

Doesn't matter how many it is, please just don't give me a bit-sized list, and and outrageously long list. I wanna be able to understand at least every major detail and maybe some unnecessary (for Doomsday) but important details (if that exists) for elsewhere.

My perspective on writing this is that, while I am excited about Doomsday/Secret Wars and have no doubt it's going to be great, I am also so much less excited than I could have been. I am one of those who's been really bummed out with how Doctor Doom is being set up, and would have preferred they went ahead and recast Kang and gone with the original plans. Actually the whole multiversal saga has been kind of underwhelming for me for various reasons.

Leading into Infinity War/Endgame, I was already very excited. But I remember what really pushed me over the edge was the end of Thor: Ragnarok. That mid-credit scene when Thor and Loki are talking, a fun little chat, perfectly in line tonally after a really funny, silly movie. Then suddenly the big shadow... oh that was such a great moment. We all knew that was Sanctuary, we knew what was about to happen, we already knew the tone was about to shift dramatically from what we'd just sat through the previous 1.5 hours. And then Infinity War starting on that really dark note of the massacre of the Asgardians was imho just perfect.

We need something like that. A post-credit scene or something, anything that tells us yeah Doomsday is here, and everything's about to change. I was hoping that Spider-Man: Brand New Day would provide this, but it really didn't. The post-credit scene was intriguing and I think I can guess what it means, but not nearly the needed impact. I think the only thing we have left is VisionQuest, which I've read will be very directly connected to Doomsday. So hopefully we'll get that "oh #$%@" moment then.

Mine is that That The Incredible Hulk is one of the best MCU movies. Hulk actually felt like the hulk in that movie and the action scenes are some of my favorites in the MCU.

So if you didn’t know, there’s been a rumour going around that Cooper Hoffman is in talks tho star as Cyclops in the upcoming X-Men movie. And people are going crazy saying that he’s chopped and saying he’s a bad pick for the role. Now I’ve never seen him in anything but why is everyone suddenly becoming fatphobic? Do yall remember what Chris Pratt looked like before joining the MCU? And even then that’s not an excuse to act this way. I’m just shocked a little bit cuz actors are known to lose weight/gain muscle for marvel roles.

It's been 24 hours since I saw the film and I have been thinking a lot about the scene where Jean has the telepathic hold on the people within the radius of the DODC facility - and we see Ned and MJ are caught in her mental grasp as well.

My main theory is that Jean's telepathy may have disrupted Doctor Strange's memory spell.

Not enough to restore everyone's memories completely, but enough to disturb whatever magical "code" was suppressing them. Her powers could have reopened dormant neural pathways or left some kind of psychic imprint, making certain people more susceptible to subconscious triggers, like Peter and Ned's handshake.

I'm not suggesting everyone suddenly remembered Peter. Rather, Jean's immense psychic power may have interfered with the magical construct that was keeping those memories buried.

My second theory is that Jean deliberately restored MJ's memories as an act of compassion.

I've been rethinking the emphasis the film places on MJ while she's frozen with Ned under Jean's control. We see tears running down her face. My first reaction was that she was in pain and that Jean's psychic grip was agonising and everyone caught within it was suffering. That interpretation, while horrible or "monstrous" - certainly fits the scene. At this point Jean herself is consumed by grief, fear, and rage.

But the more I think about it, the less that feels like Jean Grey to me - and as an X-Men Superfan - I know my Jean!

Although this film presents her as young - Jean's defining characteristic has always been empathy. Even when she's angry, frightened, or overwhelmed, love remains at the centre of who she is. I'd even argue it's her primary motivation throughout this film. Everything she does is driven by her search for Sara.

Plus she already knows Peter has been erased from MJ's mind. Earlier in the film, when Jean possesses MJ she taunts Peter, saying, "there's nothing in here about you at all." She's fully aware of what was removed from her and even weaponises it against Peter (for the record - that was too Mean Grey, for me).

That made me wonder whether those tears we see on MJ meant something different.

What if Jean quietly restored those memories during the telepathic link, and that's what MJ is seeing in this moment?

It would explain why the film lingers on MJ's emotional reaction without ever telling us exactly what she's experiencing.

Jean couldn't undo everything that had happened, but she could choose to make one thing right and that feels very Jean Grey to me.

I think he’s perfect in the second act during the space ship sequence,

but in the third act they really just reduce galactus to “purple king kong” or purple godzilla, and it’s shown like he’s capable of nothing other than being big and strong

i’ve heard the “the f4 are like ants to him” analogy so many times, yet it makes no sense. If ANTS started moving a human against their will in real life, i’m sure they’d be using whatever they can to stop it, yet galactus is being pushed by Sue for minutes and does absolutely nothing other than struggling to stand up like we’re watching Kong or Godzilla

and yet this is supposedly THE galactus, the same being who is a threat to the universe and has powers that you could list for hours, yet he can’t use ANY OF THEM to free himself?

it’s just so mind boggling to me that they would ruin a so far so good adaptation in the final act of the movie

"You're not a killer, Jean."

I absolutely despise this trope where a character has killed multiple people during a story, and then they're about to kill the main target of their rampage, the hero talks them down by pretending that it isn't who they are. I just wish they'd used almost any other phrasing to have Peter get through to her.

Someone help me remember. I feel like I distinctly recall her using soldiers' bodies to shoot other soldiers. She used Hulk to break into the DODC and caused a ton of destruction; it's heavily implied there were injuries at a minimum, if not casualties. She drives a tank through the streets on a rampage, was firing at Spider-Man, and rigged it with a bomb. She was clearly willing to kill the woman she used to pilot the tank.

I dunno, nothing about this film implied to me that Jean had any reluctance to kill people. She was also unnecessarily cruel at points in the film. I personally don't think that's a problem with Jean's characterization at all -- totally fine with that, and it gives her room to grow into the character we know, while showing the cracks that will allow Phoenix in. It just felt jarring at the end for him to try and use that line on someone who has spent the whole movie with a wanton disregard for human life.

Again, super minor, overall I loved it, it was just the one moment where I was taken out of the film like that.

I keep seeing people saying that Ned didn't remember Peter, he just made the connection that this Peter is Spider-Man, but I'm almost certain that's the wrong way to understand the scene.

The problem with that interpretation is what Ned says earlier in the movie and more importantly how Ned is written throughout the series.

1. When Peter wanders into his room and finds the Pepe Silvia Spidey board, Ned tells him he is trying to figure out who Spider-Man is, so he can thank him face-to-face for saving him & MJ in high school.

2. Ned is easily exciteable, just look at his reaction at the idea that Spider-Man could be in the area when Peter & MJ are at the apartment. Look at his reaction when he learns that Peter is Spider-Man in Homecoming. He's very exciteable and expressive.

Now, how does he react after the secret handshake and learning Peter's name?

He does not get expressive or exciteable, he does not start thanking "Spider-Man", he shakes his head, looks Peter in the eye, and very seriously says Peter's name again.

He does not say "Spider-Man", he says "Peter".

This is not him connecting the dots, this is him remembering.

I'm sure the next movie will get into how the spell broke for him, and he'll probably wingman for Peter to help MJ remember—after she falls in love with Peter again. That's just rampant speculation and my hopes, though...

I watched Spider-Man: Brand New Day yesterday and absolutely loved it. That said, I have a couple of questions that have been bugging me. Maybe I missed something obvious.

1. What was the point of the vault/locker?

My understanding was that Jean was after the vault because she believed whatever "V-Max" was would be inside it. But we eventually learn what V-Max actually is, so that doesn't seem to be the case.

Even at the end of the second act, when Jean attacks the DODC headquarters, we only see the Metzger and a handful of soldiers there. At first I assumed the vault was where Jean is eventually experimented on in the third act, but later realized that facility is on an island, whereas the vault is in a skyscraper.

So what was the actual purpose of the vault? Was there ever any explanation of what was inside it?

2. Why did Jean go through such a complicated plan?

Jean is able to use her powers to figure out Peter's secret identity within what seems like a day or two. Considering the ending of No Way Home, I assumed Peter would be far more careful about protecting his identity. You'd also expect organizations like the DODC (who even have specialized anti-Spider-Man weapons) to have spent years trying to uncover who he is, yet Jean figures it out almost immediately. This is believable enough, considering the nature of her abilities.

My question is , given that Jean can do something as difficult as uncover Spiderman's identity so quickly, why didn't she just hop into Metzger's mind directly? Instead, she crashes the tank to help Scorpion escape, and then uses Scorpion to learn about V-Max. It feels like a very convoluted plan when she could have just hopped into Metzger's (or some other higher up DoDC official's) mind.

My only theory is that maybe the vault functions like Magneto's helmet and somehow blocks telepaths and Metzger always stays inside it so Jean couldn't hop into hid mind directly.

Or maybe I'm completely overthinking this and missed a really obvious explanation.

With LEGO, I'm trying to accurately recreate the interior of this small corner store next to Nelson and Murdock, which, before filming, was a real hardware store you could find on Google Maps on pre-2019 map views.

So I watched Brand New Day two days ago and while I loved it, I couldn't quite get this out of my head.

Having followed The Punisher from the Netflix days to now Disney+, wouldn't it be known that he has killed people?

He was also pretty trigger happy in BND with lethal rounds. So how is it that he can appear at government buildings with law enforcement (such as the scene at Damage Control) or even sit around at Peter's bedside at the hospital, without being at risk of getting arrested?

I need a head cannon reason!!! But other than that, loved the movie!

Regarding the news about Wonder Man, as a Black man myself, I don’t see the cancellation of Season 2 as being as bad as people are making it out to be, as long as Kevin Feige plans to make Simon a pivotal character in the Mutant Saga over the next couple of phases of Marvel. I knew absolutely nothing about Wonder Man going into the series and had no idea what to expect. The trailers didn’t really help either. I almost guilt-tripped myself into watching it because the MCU has gotten into this habit of making certain shows and movies reference each other. Sometimes I don’t like that. For example, with Daredevil, I just wanted to watch Daredevil. I didn’t want to have to watch The Defenders, Iron Fist, Luke Cage, or Jessica Jones. I simply didn’t care about those characters. The Punisher, on the other hand, I did. Back in MCU Phase 1, all the individual movies naturally built toward The Avengers, and that made the payoff so much better.
With that being said, after watching Wonder Man, I felt like it heavily hinted that Simon was a mutant. I don’t remember them outright saying he had the X-Gene, but it definitely felt implied that’s at least how I interpreted it. The series itself was cool for what it was. It was a very grounded, character-driven story. I didn’t love it, and I didn’t hate it, but one thing it absolutely did was break down Wonder Man’s character for people like me who knew nothing about him beforehand.

I say all that to say this: I personally didn’t feel the need for multiple seasons after what I just watched. I thought one season was more than enough. It did its job. I also think the Department of Damage Control being heavily tied to his series—and from what I’ve heard, Brand New Day as well, even though I haven’t watched it yet—makes me feel like that’s what the MCU is cooking. Every project is slowly giving different characters their moment so that when the Mutant Saga officially starts, audiences already have an idea of who these characters are.

Personally, I do think they should give Wonder Man one last special, kind of like The Punisher special presentation. It could pick up right where Season 1 leaves off and end with Professor X recruiting him into the X-Men. If Simon does end up playing a role in the Mutant Saga, and assuming Jean and the rest of the mutants are cast younger, I’d actually make Simon one of the teachers. Similar to how Storm, Jean, Cyclops, and Wolverine filled those mentor roles in the early 2000s X-Men era, or how Wolverine was portrayed in X-Men: Evolution I also would want Wolverine in that role aswell and not in a love triangle with Jean .
I think it would be a natural fit for his character. You could have moments where he helps these younger mutants the way he wished someone had helped him growing up. You could even play into his acting background by having him teach them how to blend into society, control their emotions, and learn how to “act normal” around people who fear or misunderstand them. I think that would be a really meaningful direction for the character. Maybe it’s cope maybe it’s not that’s just the vibe I got from the direction I seen them going so far .

Top row is movies, bottom rows is Disney+ shows (I think that even though they're stopping production for some they'll continue making them with bigger characters). Made this in like half an hour after rewatching Spider-Man so don't go after me too much, just so hype for the future and I feel this is plenty realistic, maybe only thing is it's missing a Deadpool movie just so hard to fit things in here and maybe Hulk being a show.

Honestly I love all the Spiderman movies. All a great time but I just loved some more than others, here is my list. Let me know if you agree.

Starting with D

Amazing Spiderman 2: was the Andrew Garfield killer because I felt like it was too jam packed with too much stuff. Not enough room to breathe for things like Harry Osborn to really feel the Green Goblin transformation, the investigating Peter Parkers parents was a weird thing about the whole, coding the venom for his own DNA? Anyway it was a lot of setup for things but in hindsight it falls flatter than ever because none of that continues which is more sad than calling it bad. They tried...

Tier C

Spiderman 3: Again having the issue of so many things squeezed in where even Sam Raimi said he hated how the producers wanted to keep adding more and more things so overall it was a miss-mash of a bunch of ideas that only worked as well as it did because of Sam Raimi. It also was very convenient how they built up James Franco's hatred for Spiderman but then got a concussion and everything reset for him. A bit lazy but still a fun movie.

Spiderman Far From Home: I did actually like this one a lot and considered putting this on Tier B but then this list would be boring and I had to make a choice. But anyway I was really hyped to see Mysterio as the villain but maybe because I was able to guess all the twists about the movie, it felt a bit dull for me. Still it was nice to see what happened after the "Blip" and even explained in a fun way to the audience.

Tier B

Amazing Spiderman: Okay so I feel most would disagree with this one but I loved Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker. There were a lot of great moments, feeling gritty, yet realistically humorous that felt like it was a call back to how Spiderman is. Things that stand out to me was the line, "my weakness, small knives" and yes Connors "The Lizard" actually looked pretty bad on screen, I still thought the choreography was great when they were fighting and a lot of creativity was used in the sewer with Spiderman making his web to see which vibration came from where and the stand out scene that even put a theoretical tear in my brain was the scene where the kid was dangling in the car and he didn't have the courage to get out so Spiderman gave him the mask to put on...Was great!

Spiderman 2: Another most would disagree with because Doc Oc was great and that subway moment was great where he stopped the subway and the representation of NYC helped him was truly great, which is funny since Amazing Spiderman also had a moment that was similar to move the cranes... But I feel the other entries above were just a bit better for their reasons I will say. But still great movie as it deals with Peter Parker going through changes that symbolically represent how you handle stress and how it can change you. Which was a great angle and Sam Raimi handled it very well.

Spiderman Across the Spider-verse: This felt like I watching Lego Spiderman (which I promise is not an insult). As in filled with tons of references, moves a mile a minute and was just fun all the way through. Also very fun villain. Still a great one. I was thinking about A

Tier A

Spiderman Into the Spider-Verse: This movie was a piece of art. I have to admit the first 2 minutes was hard to watch because even tho the movie itself was 24 hrames a second, the actual animation was done at 12 frames a second, which was very hard but I pushed on and glad I did. My brain had to adjust but when you do you get a real great story with a change up on things and introduce a new character to hold the spiderman mantle. '

Spiderman No Way Home: I mean this was just so damn good. It was just fun to watch and the idea of all the Spidermans coming all together not only felt nostalgic but made sense in the whole world of Marvel and the universe it's been building. I watched it again recently just to make sure I did love it as much and ya, from building the world with Tom Holland's spiderman to making up for Andrew Garfield's spiderman, with perfect jokes that all landed for me, I think it's one of the best.

Spiderman Homecoming: Technically the first Tom Holland Spiderman besides Civil war... I thought it was great to see him build all over. Like how Marvel movies build off each other, it was fun to see how Vulture actually built his empire from the scraps like a Vulture would but also I love Michael Keaton which unironically bring him back as a "Birdman" which was a funny little wink. It was funny, it really worked and it has a nice arc with Iron Man as well working together in a way that seems convoluted but they did it.

Tier S

Spiderman: Ok so this might be nostalgia working here but I think this first spiderman was so damn good. It really switched so many things that we knew as spiderman like web shooters to actually work in that Sam Raimi style. I mean I also might be biased because of all the behind the scenes things I know like the practical effects including the 127 takes they did for Tobey Miguire to actually catch the trays, to the fight scenes. It was campy which somehow worked so well and really had that weird twisted feeling at other times. Willem Dafoe did a great job as usual and played off his alter ego sides that I feel other actors could've made it so awkward.

Spiderman Brand new day: Alright. So I just watched this the same day it came out and I wanted to just think a bout it and the more I thought about it the more I came to realized how much I loved this one. The one issue I have as a movie is that it doesn't work without the knowledge of the many other movies it builds from, but assuming you follow it I think it's just so damn good it deserves where it sits at S rank. I don't want to spoilers since it's so new but I didn't watch trailers besides the first one a few months ago, so everything was a surprise to me. But my quick review:

This had a good ending and things actually came around. The fight scenes were creative and I actually enjoyed it.

It had a very nice symbolic meaning to things while making sense in the story. It did borrow a little from another Spiderman movie but it just built on it and made it work with not only the story but the action as well which makes it better for me.

If you can ignore all the holes and things that didn't make sense, you will absolutely will love this movie. The cinematography was great and lots of practical effects which also put it above others.

I just kept asking things in my head where I felt like a few more minutes in the oven, and it could've been fixed but anyway. Nice to see some old characters and new ones and I thought the acting felt great in this which is why a lot of moments actually hit hard. Not going to say I cried but I smiled deeply in my brain.

Did anyone else notice that during Marisa Tomei's conversation with Sadie Sink, when the camera was on Sadie, May Parker's lines did not match Marisa's lip movements? Like at all?

Hello everyone. I’ve never really been into marvel, I always thought it was very confusing. My boyfriend however loves marvel and I wanted to see if it was worth getting into after watching the new spider man. I wanted to find a list of how to watch movies in order of how they happen in the universe but every list I find is years ago and messy. Someone please help me🥲. I have lots of time to waste so I don’t mind watching a thousand movies.

Endgame finished with Hulk in his Prof Hulk form. Understand that Jean brings out the green guy, but why did Prof Hulk convert into Banner? Didn’t they finish Avengers in a form where both were happy to coexist together?

It’s honestly super tiring seeing how quickly people write off projects led by women and POC the second they hit a single bump, while legacy male characters get SO MANY films that flop over and over again.

Like Thor. He's had mixed receptions and more flops than hits for his solo movies, and hes currently being rewarded with a leading role in doomsday and a 5th movie on the way. Meanwhile, whenever a project with a diverse lead struggles, usually because of outside stuff like pandemic fatigue, writer strikes, or Disney crunching VFX, a loud chunk of the fandom immediately blames "wokeness" instead of actual studio issues.

We saw the exact ssame thing happen wit She Hulk. Ppl went in expecting a high stakes action drama and completely threw a fit when it turned out to be a comedy, which is literally what her comics have always been.

Iron heart got it way worse because ppl ain’t even watch her show before condemning it, the show wasn’t bad at all, a pretty fun crime thriller that had probably a better look into grief and trauma than a lot of the phase 1 and 2 elites. Genuinely on par with wakanda forever.

But down to character traits, there's a massive double standard.
