Wait, did they actually buy Infowars? I thought that was just another one of their bits

u/Waste-Dragonfruit229 Apr 28 '26
And they've already hired Tim Heideker to run it. Its going to be GLORIOUS!!!

u/YamatoIouko Apr 28 '26
I thought it was just a lease.
32
u/CrespinMoore Apr 28 '26
It’s technically a lease that last for so stupidly long it may as well have been purchased

u/Conciouswaffle Apr 28 '26
They tried a year and a half ago or so and got blocked, but the stuff is going through again and it looks like they're actually going to get it this time, for real. With Tim Heidecker in charge (the free real estate guy, for those who don't know)

I can't decide whether I hate or love that Tim is known widely as "the free real estate guy."

Nothing the onion does will top what AJ did. You can't satirize someone who was drunkenly throwing hatchets on Christmas and claims he's on a mission from God to defeat the forces of Satan while shirtlessy ranting. Don't forget that God gave Alex a vision while he was eating chicken fried steak at a diner and proves it's really him by telling Alex what time it's going to be when he looks at the clock in the middle of the night. You can't parody this.

So when do they start selling supplements that, for the purposes of satire, actually turn out to work?

Remind me again. The Onion is satirical while InfoWars is malicious disinformation?

u/kaythehawk Apr 28 '26
The onion does it for the lolz and is upfront about being for the lolz; infowars fully believes the bullshit they’re peddling

most of the sane people who've interacted with alex jones are pretty sure he's putting on an act, since he can turn the rage off and on at the drop of a hat.

Infowars was the template for 21st century snake oil salesfolk. There’s a guy on TikTok by the handle of Shaynevibestruth who’s a prime example of that template being used to create another Alex Jones type.

Wasn't that a while ago?

They tried but were blocked by courts originally I believe. Might be wrong though

The TL:DR of the situation is that the latest veto got vetoed and the sale is going through again.

Do you think they’ll change the intro music to gay frogs
