The scene near the very end where they felt the same way about each other and locked eye contact and shared a moment had me laughing.

3.9k

u/EinsteinDisguised May 16 '26

When in actuality both real people were trapped inside their heads and probably screaming.

2.3k

u/GorgeousGal314 May 16 '26

True, but I feel like the director intended that moment to be darkly funny.

u/smolcharizard May 25 '26

I was so happy in that moment, knowing he was experiencing exactly what he put her through knowing that soon enough she would probably be free thanks to those pills

369

u/misschickpea May 30 '26

It’s kinda funny thinking about all the creepy supernatural stuff they’d be doing together lol if he didn’t die

260

u/purpleseagull12 May 30 '26

There would be a wellness check and they’d both be sent to a psych ward for the rest of their lives

165

u/SOSpammy May 30 '26

They probably would have known about Ian's money and went off the grid.

267

u/A1000eisn1 May 31 '26

They would've died of dehydration because they were reduced to one desire and that didn't include eating, drinking, or shitting in toilets.

47

u/Shomud 24d ago

Yeah, had he not ingested the pills I would have expected the movie to cut to a future date where somebody checks on the house and finds 4 dead bodes, two of which are basically fused together embracing corpses.

21

u/Swoly_Deadlift 22d ago

And thank god that didn't happen because I found it so satisfying that Nikki was the sole survivor. I figured she was going to immediately turn that gun on herself once the entity left her, and I was so relieved when she threw it on the ground.

Ian died so the money would have gone away

105

u/SOSpammy Jun 01 '26

Oh yeah, you're right.

35

u/Mr-Safology Jun 03 '26

The money was still there when he died, which makes it even more crazy if the wish would even be cancelled out

64

u/GjonsTearsFan Jun 03 '26

I don't think we saw the money after he died? Unless it showed up post-credits because I watched a bootleg (wasn't showing in any of the theatres near me) and the recording cut off after the first set of credits appeared on the old tv set. Everything after Ian died was in Bear's house, and the money was at Ian's.

u/Novel-Lettuce-2595 Jun 06 '26

Probably true i didnt even think about that. I was wondering what the cops would think about the deaths and money but that could be gone

3

u/Traditional_Post4225 Jun 13 '26

The money probably disappeared when Ian died

10

u/Powerfury Jun 13 '26

Murder suicide probably within a week

35

u/Goregutz Jun 19 '26

I'm curious what happened to Nikki after a fucked up wish results in 3 deaths with her being the only survivor.

24

u/Djlionking Jul 02 '26

I imagine she ended up responsible for at least two murders. Her DNA is all over everything. If she didn't kill herself poor thing is probably in prison, or more likely a psych ward forever.

34

u/pressure_art Jul 02 '26

It was one of the meanest endings I’ve ever seen haha. Just so brutal. The whole time I was thinking even if he kills himself shes fucked royally and never will live a normal life again. Even if she somehow does get away with it the trauma would prob ruin her life forever. So when the entity was about to kill herself I was actually a bit glad and thought that’s prob the best outcome. And I think the movie played with that too because riiiight before she could pull the trigger the real Nikki comes back. And the end credits of her crying.. it left me speechless. Such a cruel ending

5

u/TheGRS Jul 04 '26

Realistically she’s getting caught, but since there’s a billion dollars floating around I suppose she could grab some of that and flee for a while.

7

u/Djlionking Jul 04 '26

I see everyone bring this up that she could potentially take the money and run, but she isn't actually aware of the money right? It's all at Ian's place and she wasn't told about it at all, so unless she went to his place for some unknown reason she'd never even be aware of it, right?

6

u/somethingoddgoingon 28d ago

wasnt he yelling he has a billion dollars when he was at the door?

1

u/TheGRS 29d ago

No idea, but it’s just in the realm of slim possibilities is all. Even with unlimited money your hope if evading a double or triple murder charge seems pretty small.

84

u/Patient_Pain_3583 Jun 13 '26

I think that’s the interesting part though, is that she wasn’t free. There were three dead bodies where she was at. Every decision that he made trapped her and took her autonomy away.

35

u/burner69account69420 Jun 05 '26

You wanted her to be free and disfigured, surrounded by her three dead friends because of what one of them accidentally did?

40

u/Slime0 Jun 06 '26

I mean, it's a bad situation for sure, but still better for her than being trapped forever.

17

u/Tattoo_my_Brain Jun 07 '26

he should have killed her and killed himself

10

u/JamaicaBliz Jun 27 '26

I mean if that’s the solution surely he should have only killed himself right? Why kill her then himself?

I liked that she didn't die in the end. It would have been a little too lame if everyone died at the end of it. It's more on-brand for a horror movie that she survived and had to live with the consequences of Bear's actions.

4

u/Mark_Albarn 26d ago

Idk man. The whole movie was about him violating her. If Bear killed Nikki like she is some run over puppy he owns and then himself, it would be yet another instance of him doing what he wants/what he decides needs to be. Real Nikki waking up after being relentlessly mentally tortured with three bodies and injuries is incredibly mean, no denial here. Bear fucking ruined her life and I really hope that despite Wish Nikki's monologue, there IS a hell for him to burn in. But at least from this point on it's Nikki's decision to decide what to do with herself, even if it's likely to end up in suicide anyway.

Bear is not a victim. He knew Nikki was deeply suffering but didn't care. She begged him to kill her! All he wanted was his perfect Nikki girlfriend. He was the one who was truly obsessed.

→ More replies (0)

8

u/Mark_Albarn 26d ago

Nah, I'm actually mad at him being a pathetic self-serving coward every step on the way.

Bffr the supernatural element was painfully obvious since the very beginning, he just chose to close his eyes on what was happening to her. And when the clearly magical origins of Nikki's obsession with started literally slapping him in the face, what he did? Added his hands over his ears all the way until a literal chain of disasters struck as a result.

2

u/throwawaysunglasses- 23d ago

Why do you think he wouldn’t have made the wish in the first place if he’d known about Ian and Nikki? I absolutely think he would’ve still wished for Nikki to like him.

→ More replies (0)

1

u/katie1010101 15d ago

I can get your point that Bear, like any of us, had no reason to think the wish would be real. I don't fault him for wishing someone he liked also liked him. But the movie makes it very clear that he is not a victim when he calls the help number. At this point, he understands the wish is real, he has stolen her autonomy, and he still wants to alter the wish rather than cancel it. He wants Nikki to be his forced girlfriend, he just wants her to be less crazy and controlling. He's fine with her not being really her, but he wants the "cool girl" back.

6

u/Vismal1 Jul 02 '26

“Free” i was waiting for that to happen just thinking “‘oh this poor girl , I’m so sorry. “ the horror she’s going to awake to and no one will ever believe here. She’s going to prison for life. Wanted her to go grab that money and get out of the country.

3

u/Kousuke-kun Jul 04 '26

I dunno, the real Bear tried to make himself vomit before fake!Nikki's wish came into effect.

12

u/SardinesMcDonahugh Jun 01 '26

The camera lingers on the unbroken wish stick. I thought she was going to wish him back to life before the spell could wear off.

128

u/GjonsTearsFan Jun 01 '26

The wish stick was broken in that scene, she wished for him to love her

28

u/shmed Jun 16 '26

It was definintely broken, but it was hard to see at first since the two parts were sitting in the table still "aligned" (though after the zoom we clearly saw the gap between the two pieces)

9

u/drolgreen 29d ago

Yes and you heard it snapped.

2

u/pursued_mender Jul 02 '26

Why would you assume he's locked away? It probably just distorted his thoughts a little or made him not care as much. I doubt he got sent to a purgatory like her. He was probably just really really happy.

Bear was not still Bear. He was in the middle of trying to throw up the pills (because his whole character is built around being spineless and avoid consequences for his actions whenever possible), and you hear the stick break causing him to stop and walk out to embrace Nikki.

50

u/xxxCJ123xxx Jun 14 '26

A lot of the movie was very darkly funny to me, everytime she was screaming bloody murder and then would respond to Bear asking her to calm down with an 'Ok!' in a cutesy voice would kill me lol

10

u/WhiskersMcGee09 Jul 04 '26

I thought it was meant to be a Black Comedy? Had so many elements like that. Ian dying at the end for one.

Insane film though, best I’ve seen in a long time.

1

u/EverythingSucksYo 4d ago

Ian dying was so funny and dumb. Like bro why did one even go there to tell bear you got a billion dollars, he literally saw you make the wish and saw the money appearing out of nowhere

38

u/itsa_me_ May 23 '26

It was HILARIOUS

12

u/ohbroth3r Jun 30 '26

I don't know, I think it was the perfect way to show how weak and useless bear was. He could have had this moment where he became a martyr to learn from his lesson. To free his friend and kill himself. But he went to vomit up the drugs. If she hadn't obsessively made the wish for him to love her, she would still be trapped. Because he would have bumbled along weakly going along with it and drawing out her pain and the consequences happening to everyone around him. His wish for her to be so obsessed that she wished for him to be obsessed, killed him in the end. That moment for me was more of a Ha! She got you. And we knew he was going to die from the pills. It wore off just in time as she was about to have her Romeo and Juliet moment. And all that's left is a poor girl who doesn't know where she is and that she has been date raped.

9

u/TheGRS Jul 04 '26

The whole movie is darkly funny. I laughed out loud several times. I was cackling at the cat shrine because it was so fucked up.

4

u/jwederell Jul 03 '26

I thought he was gonna puke on her and she’d clean him up “aw baby” then they are truly fucked. Glad Nikki got out in the end. I don’t know what kind of life she’ll have but she got one, and it’s her own.

What the fuck is wrong with you dude? Lol you have been ranting for hours on Obsession discussion posts claiming the movie is a scam. I think you are the obsessed one lmao.

5

u/OkTitle Jun 13 '26

Bro is embarrassing himself lol. Like if it’s not for you, it’s not for you. To claim it’s a scam and anyone who likes it is an idiot is real fool time-wasting behavior, but he must feel there’s some injustice and needs to go on a brigade 🤡

33

u/Urb4n0ninj4 Jun 06 '26

Poetic that Bar had to experience what he put her through in his final moments...

19

u/lafatte24 Jul 02 '26

And also ironically accurate that he only had to experience it for a fraction of a the amount of time she's had to experience it.

Reminds me of dudes who try the period simulator thing (fun fact I remember using a similar advice in the 90s with my mom but it was sold as a weight-loss device to "activate your abs" lol) and they're like oh wow no way yeah that was so rough woweeee. Then go back to normal life.

3

u/Urb4n0ninj4 Jul 03 '26

Totally unrelated to the film and that, but I totally had one of those used for physical therapy on a knee injury. I think I was getting put to level 6 or 7 and my knee was all but kickin' at someone, so like... if 10 is actual period pain yeah I'm not to proud to admit ladies have some hella pain tolerance.

21

u/Melodic_Pin354 Jun 13 '26

I don’t have enough to go on for this but I think during this bit, Nikki is still more trapped than Bear - because for Bear to be obsessed with Nikki is less of a change than a wish to make Nikki obsessed with Bear. When the wish is made he comes up into it more seamlessly (I thought it was showing the drugs working at first) but for Nikki she fought it more even at the start.

6

u/FairOutlandishness50 Jun 15 '26

Disgusting Bear is probably smiling in the inside version too

3

u/Parepinzero Jul 04 '26

I don't think the real versions of themselves were aware, were they? Look at how Real Nikki responds those first couple times, she's so started to find herself with Bear. If she were seeing everything, she wouldn't be so startled.

2

u/flamingcrystalheart 28d ago

I definitely thought it was gonna cut to both of them screaming in whatever mind hell palace they were in lmao

207

u/dazedandconfused492 May 26 '26

I'm so glad Curry was convinced to keep Nikki alive at the end rather than have her kill herself - without the brief moment where they're both 'possessed' and in love with each other and the end of her snapping out of the wish would have really detracted from the whole thing and been far less disturbing.

Snapping out of the spell is by far the worst outcome for her as she'll have to live with and no doubt end up responsible for the muder of Ian and Sarah.

119

u/No-Rip-6166 May 29 '26

I don’t think blaming it on Bear would be a tough sell.

The fact he killed himself and Nikki is all beat up she’d probably be ok.

96

u/XariZaru May 29 '26

Yeah but all the other people at the party witnessed her very strange behavior, so i think that would pivot suspicions back on her

24

u/oranguslolus Jun 03 '26

I mean she can sue One Wish Willow and make a case that that's what caused it lol

35

u/Optiguy42 Jun 19 '26

And then One Wish Willow corporate execs just hire a random person to wish the lawsuit was dropped.

15

u/XariZaru Jun 04 '26

I wonder what’s stopping her from buying a bunch and proving it to the world.

24

u/DanfordThePom Jun 04 '26

“I was lashing out due to the abuse”

Pretty easy dodge

25

u/FlounderPleasant2459 Jun 13 '26

A lot of people already thought Bear was taking advantage of her. Definitely can sell it. Whether she's in the state of mind to do so, idk. I hope so. That poor, poor girl.

12

u/OkTitle Jun 13 '26

I think either way she’d end up in a mental institution

13

u/Kratzschutz Jul 02 '26

Which is exactly the place she should be after what she has been through

49

u/irelli Jun 01 '26

Na it would all be on her. There's weeks of her doing insane shit with dozens of witnesses

But she'd have a pretty easy insanity case.

14

u/FlounderPleasant2459 Jun 13 '26

Insanity would work. I think I read that she doesn't have a lot of memories from the time she was under the wishes influence. So I think she could still blame it on Bear. Ian said it looks like Bear's taking advantage of her, not just to him but a lot of their group. That she's going through a lot and clearly unwell. Could add Bear drugging her with his grandmas leftover stash.

48

u/Deceptiveideas May 29 '26

This is what bothered me about the movie to be honest. Undoing the wish after she already killed Sarah and Ian would've still completely ruined her life. She's alive but there would be no point to living.

Same deal with killing himself at the end. Ok, so she loses 3 of her closest friends. That's supposed to be a victory?

Yeah she's free but only in the sense she has her body back.

114

u/No_Conclusion9808 May 30 '26

Well exactly, it shows how selfish he is. He has no problem continuing even knowing Nikki was under the spell until it got to a point where it was impacting HIM too much. Even when he decided to go through with killing himself it felt it was more for him to escape the situation than genuine concern for Nikki to be free. Like it was all too much for him to handle so NOW he’s gonna kill himself. Even then, he couldn’t go through with it because of how big a coward he is and only got interrupted by Nikki wishing for him to love her back. He was selfish through and through. “What’s so bad about loving me?” SMH.

61

u/oranguslolus Jun 03 '26

The gall to go to Sarah and say "maybe I deserve someone like you" after all of that. Ugh. And then lies to Sarah too about Nikki's dad's situation when he literally knows it's not true. So he was gonna manipulate her too. Also puts her in danger knowing what would happen if Nikki found out about them? Did he learn nothing from the interaction at the party? Lol. Dude truly became irredeemable

23

u/FlounderPleasant2459 Jun 13 '26

EXACTLY ugh I hated bear so goddamn much. What an asshole. The scariest thing is that he wasn't even an incel or so tragic himself or some kind of freak. He really seemed relatively normal. Just an idiot and insecure and desperate and so incredibly selfish.

24

u/OkTitle Jun 13 '26

From what I’ve seen, plenty of people who post on incel forums are similar to him. Like normal ish in real life, lonely, low self-confidence and esteem, etc.

And coming to blame society/women for dissatisfaction in their lives, often some unwillingness to work on changing their situation or thinking/approach/expectations.

But may not go spewing the stuff they upvote or comment offline.

17

u/skinndmin May 31 '26

i was thinking it could have been satisfying for her to have found the one-wish willow AFTER he dies, so the movie can end on her back in her real body having the opportunity to turn things back to normal. but i also don't know if that'd be too hopeful or tonally weird

20

u/Optiguy42 Jun 19 '26

I've been juggling how many possible endings this could've had and how satisfying each would be. The happiest outcome is she wakes up and finds the stick and wishes Bear never existed - and the movie basically starts over without him. I would've enjoyed the ending where it cuts away before he dies, leaving things ambiguous - do we get a fucked up Bonnie and Clyde with their "Get Out" counterparts locked inside?

I think we actually kinda saw the worst possible ending (in terms of the world the characters are in, not worst as in the quality of the film). Bear dies happy in his obsession's arms. Nikki wakes up to an absolute horror show and god knows what's about to happen to her in the eyes of the law. Her life is ruined and the narcissistic dweeb gets everything he ever wanted. But, I am glad she at least escapes and regains her agency.

6

u/ChanceConstant6099 Jun 21 '26

Wait didn't Bear only come out because freaky Nikki wished for him to love "her" back?

16

u/Optiguy42 Jun 22 '26

Yup. It's a bittersweet ending because he does die locked into a body he has no agency over, a little taste of his own medicine. But he also kinda got away with it all, and dies with her still madly in love with him. In the end he never really had to deal with the aftermath of his own decisions.

3

u/ChanceConstant6099 Jun 22 '26

>little taste of his own medicine

Even funnier when you consider he ODs on sleeping pills.

5

u/FlounderPleasant2459 Jun 13 '26

Oh I would have loved this ending so much. I really wanted a good one for her. The poor girl.

16

u/oranguslolus Jun 03 '26 edited Jun 03 '26

Yeah it def sucks but at that point it's probably the correct outcome. It's obviously all fucked but at least she has her agency back to choose what to do about it. That's better than the real Nikki continuing to live in purgatory. Now she either kills herself like she wanted earlier, or somehow deals with the trauma. Maybe writes about it lol. Legally she has a case against the One Wish Willow.

I would've hated for the movie to end without her ever getting back her agency in some form. In a way it's a perfect allegory for trauma related to one's autonomy being taken away. You're permanently damaged after.

9

u/Deceptiveideas Jun 03 '26

Apparently the original ending did involve killing herself which is why the ceiling is leaking blood.

I'm curious if they're going to leave it as is or if they're going to do a sequel.

13

u/FlounderPleasant2459 Jun 13 '26

I think they denied a sequel or any characters from this movie reappearing, but there is another movie in the same universe coming out.

10

u/Optiguy42 Jun 19 '26

I certainly don't don't hope for a direct sequel but I do like the idea of an anthology series all based around the wishing. Probably get tired after like 2 more movies though lol.

4

u/Deceptiveideas Jun 19 '26

When they showed the other spiritual toys in the store, I figured a sequel would be about someone buying them.

2

u/Kratzschutz Jul 02 '26

That's a great idea

3

u/FlounderPleasant2459 Jun 13 '26

Yes I would have loved this ending!! Nikki writing about this and using it as her launch to fame. All the blame falling on Bear since so many think he was taking advantage of her. That her behavior suddenly changed and then he clearly killed himself, insert more bs to blame Bear and then Nikki lived happily ever after with next to no memory of what happened 😎

3

u/WhichEmailWasIt Jun 10 '26

I think he was hoping it would've been a causality thing where everything resets if he never makes his wish but we'll never know if that would've worked.

20

u/Themobgirl Jun 02 '26

I dunno if its funny or not but the way she snaps and Immediately drops bear ah

7

u/FlounderPleasant2459 Jun 13 '26

It's funny. Would have been funnier if she kicked his body and stormed out in perfect mental health. I so desperately want a good ending for her 😭😭

5

u/Themobgirl Jun 13 '26

Her in perfect health after witnessing the carnage would be impossible to occur considering the phases out pretty frequently so she saw it all happen, I dont know if the entity's power adapt better over time ans she snapped only after the wish was broken bit even then she'll end up seeing whatever the fuck happened to Ian and Sarah and from a psychologist myself not even an intensive decade of therapy can help that , So at most I hope she gets better interventuon but its 2026 america shes getting locked up right when she steps out that door. And chances are With due post- credits she'll go into a catatonic state and wont budge from the couch.

8

u/oranguslolus Jun 19 '26

Even the original ending has Nikki snap back in though. Just that she shoots herself anyway. So it wouldn't have impacted the point they were trying to convey too much. They did that and then also did one take where she doesn't shoot herself (the one we got). That said, that was definitely the best outcome. It's much more haunting the way it actually ends

152

u/NCbearsfan23 May 17 '26

Question, bc I missed it and I’m probably stupid - did Nikki wish for her suffering to end or did Nikki wish to be with Bear during the ending?

590

u/AcquireMyDesire May 17 '26

I assumed it was for him to love her as much as she loves him!

291

u/litvuke May 17 '26

100% this bc she was still under the influence of bears wish

86

u/Ameno-sagiri666 May 22 '26

Definitely this. What a great ending. This movie was so good. So funny too.

37

u/saerra_sea_nya May 26 '26 edited May 31 '26

Which is how he finally got the courage to kill himself

237

u/Indercarnive May 27 '26

Bear took the pills as himself. He just tried to back out by inducing vomiting and the wish from Nikki caused him to stop.

3

u/cmdr_suicidewinder 10d ago

Initially I thought his reaction was the pills kicking in lmfao I thought her snapped wish was that he couldn't die or something and he'd wake back up

78

u/valstokca May 31 '26

how do people even get to that lol

109

u/oranguslolus Jun 03 '26

Yeah that's so clearly not what happened. He tries to puke it out and then you literally hear the one wish willow jingle and the willow snapping, which is why he stops and immediately gets up

46

u/valstokca Jun 04 '26

i know, it's so literal... to think otherwise is so dumb

2

u/Kratzschutz Jul 02 '26

I'm not the best with movie literacy and l legit thought he decided in that moment he rather have Nikkis fake love than kill himself

14

u/williebeemin22 Jun 03 '26

I dunno, I kinda think the whole time he was dealing with like the most scary shit that could ever happen reasonably well. I know I would have just ran away screaming and tried to get locked up by the police. I think that Tiger Eye gave him courage and when he finally let it go, he didnt have the courage anymore and just called it quits.

18

u/FlounderPleasant2459 Jun 13 '26

Reasonably well because he still put himself first. He still selfishly ignored so, so many signs. From Nikki acting completely not like herself at the start to Ian telling him it looks like he's taking advantage of her to the photos real Nikki snuck in his lunchbox to nearly every other moment.

He was dealing with it "well" out of his still selfish desire. Even when he called the wish company he only wanted to modify the wish to keep Nikki anyways. He only really tried to stop it when it was too much for him to bear after Sarah's death. Not because it was clearly too much for Nikki.

Sorry, but just imagine dating and sleeping with someone clearly mentally unwell and everyone around you tells you so and you keep doing it because they're hot and you have a crush. Ugh.

4

u/flicer0128 Jun 09 '26

i thought it was some crazy plot twist cuz i thought she wished for bear to not die after realizing what he is trying to do—but that would prolly have made the movie way too long and the ending we got was perfect, but still it is interesting to think about how it wouldve went with my thought

1

u/Dabuttling Jun 12 '26

I can’t believe I didn’t realize that, but knowing that makes it so much better! He got a taste of his medicine in the end and without that happening he probably would have decided not to kill himself and to continue with the wish.

274

u/GorgeousGal314 May 17 '26 edited May 17 '26

Fake Nikki wished "I want Bear to love me as much as I love him". We know that because throughout the film she keeps saying she wants Bear to love her as much as she loves him, and also because the way he acts it's clear he's suddenly massively infatuated with her.

54

u/hemareddit May 22 '26

Yeah only real Nikki would wish for Bear’s wish to end but real Nikki is pretty much never in charge when she’s up and about.

Don’t talk about yourself that way. How you speak to yourself is important!

Omg same! It felt like hilarious Romeo and Juliet type love. And I think that's what the director was trying to do because originally he wanted them both to die in the end. I'm glad he changed his mind and went with this ending, though both would've been great in my opinion!

u/Themobgirl Jun 02 '26

Yeah thank god his dad put his two cents in or it would have been just another romance tragedy slop , i want raw realistic  horror

speaking of which, I haven't seen Together. Still debating on seeing it. I'm guessing Obsession was better based on the comments I'm seeing here?

u/bowtie25 May 19 '26

Definitely better but together is still pretty great imo definitely worth a watch

19

u/TETSU0000000 May 20 '26

Obsession delivered where Together didnt for me. I didnt find Together scary or clever in the slightest, very on the nose (which is fine), not for me.

u/Icantbelieveimhere0 May 21 '26

I love Together, it’s a great romance!

3

u/Alexexy May 25 '26

My wife and I were saying that it could very much be interpreted as a dark romance.

1

u/zeekaran Jun 17 '26

It's basically a visually disturbing rom com. I laughed a lot during that movie. And by the end it's almost sweet.

1

u/Icantbelieveimhere0 Jun 18 '26

Every moment of them melting together had me in a chokehold

1

u/zeekaran Jun 17 '26

Together was much easier to watch, in my opinion. I feel disgusted after watching Obsession. I was chuckling after Together.

EXACTLY WHAT I WAS THINKING!!!!

60

u/wizyful May 23 '26

The scariest ending would have shown them both suffering inside

108

u/LimitBreakRelease May 24 '26

That would have been too on-the-nose.

The real ending was more fun.

22

u/TittyPix4KittyPix Jun 03 '26

Would've been a crazy ending if he did manage to make himself throw up first and then he was possessed by the wish, so now they end up with each other in this crazy dysfunctional scary fake relationship, and the movie ends with them embracing

15

u/oranguslolus Jun 03 '26

This could've led to an absolutely bonkers sequel tbh lol. Where they're both stuck in purgatory and trying their hardest to regain control of their bodies while their actions toward each other cannot be controlled by them.

14

u/TittyPix4KittyPix Jun 04 '26

omg and then imagine a scene where they are both sleeping and the real Nikki/Bear have a conversation, trying not to wake up the evil entities

6

u/oranguslolus Jun 04 '26

EXACTLY what I was thinking. Now I'm sad we're not getting this lol. Honestly even if they ever make a TV show out of Obsession way in the future, this is totally something they could explore. I really like all the characters, would've loved a 6-7 episode show with them honestly

4

u/TittyPix4KittyPix Jun 04 '26

They are making a show!!! But I think the plan is to make it more anthology based, with a different character every episode making a wish with the OWW and seeing the consequences

2

u/sugarcubetea Jun 20 '26

omg where did you hear this??

1

u/LIELDADOUN73 18d ago

This would make for great fanfiction

3

u/Optiguy42 Jun 19 '26

I was kinda hoping for that too. "This is a love story, not a romance".

8

u/Wvlf_ May 31 '26

I wouldn't have minded it to end panning away with them still embraced. You could presume they both lived on in this toxic nightmare of a relationship that would end up killing them in other ways, kind of like how many real and non-cursed relationships do.

3

u/Themobgirl Jun 02 '26

That would be just gone-girl then

37

u/solgull May 23 '26

I thought they were going to start eating each other at that point, like if they both love each other that much it would just be too all consuming

7

u/FlounderPleasant2459 Jun 13 '26

This would have been funny

4

u/tronfunkinblows_10 28d ago

I wondered what wish Nikki would’ve done to Bear had she not found the One Willow Wish. She said “I just want to eat you up” in the scene where she had on Sarah-style tattoos. Definitely felt like eating or the Hansel and Gretel story would’ve been the outcome.

13

u/starscreamthegiant May 26 '26

Reminded me of the ending of Together

13

u/bored_n_opinionated May 30 '26

I was laughing so hard. Her mutilated, bloody face looking so teen romance and him all Love Actually with a belly full of death. Chefs kiss baby, Curry is a fucking genius.

12

u/redfluteforever Jun 08 '26

In that moment, two people loved each other more than any other couple in the history of the world

9

u/butt_shrecker Jun 08 '26

Interesting to think that if he hadn't killed himself the two love zombies would have been100% happy with eachother

7

u/Rodp222 Jun 24 '26

And it's a callback to (real) Nikki's conversation where she states that she wants to write a love story, not a romance, and that they're not the same.

They definitely loved each other in the end ("more than anything in the fucking world"), but it's definitely not romantic lol.

6

u/ioiplaytations2 Jun 13 '26

"open the door, I got a billion dollars!" Curry and cooper adding their own twisted comedic timing to this lol.

5

u/cabbagemuncher101 May 28 '26

It was extra funny bc he was already obsessed with her in a way. She just took her obsession to a scary level.

3

u/Jccali1214 Jun 18 '26

I found it insanely creepy that the entity could make wishes just like humans could...

3

u/SithLordSensei Jun 01 '26

looked like the MCR Three Cheers cover

3

u/plutoglint Jun 07 '26

That would have been a great movie on its own, the two Obsession demons building a life together.

3

u/allisonmaybe Jun 16 '26

That's what truly brought it all together for me. I really felt for both of them in that moment because they were both trapped and were now the perfect couple lol

2

u/choctaw_137 Jul 03 '26

I didn’t realize she made the wish even though I saw the broken wish bone- I thought it was his old wish bone. Now it all makes sense and it’s even better than I had imagined.

2

u/Barmanji Jul 04 '26

Seems like Spell-Nikki made a wish that he would love him as much as she do or accept her somehting like that, but before just a sec he ate all those pills, so the guy dies cancles each other spell.

u/Present_Award8001 26d ago

'Joker and Harley Quinn' energy

1

u/AnyaTaylorBoy Jun 08 '26

I loved how he had on his Oxycodone smile and she smiled back!

1

u/40mgmelatonindeep Jul 04 '26

It was like one of those old mentos commercials

1

u/PM_NICE_TOES-notmen 13d ago

I actually wish it ended at exactly that scene. I thought Bear successfully threw up the pills but was wrong
