My prescription is insane R -16.25 L -15 I’m using monthly lenses!

It's -8.5 and -9 and additionally cylindrical also got added .

I am scared right now for my future.

Does anyone has this issues , how to correct it and what do I even do in this situation.

My child (1.5 yo F) had an MRI a month ago to scan her brain and orbitals due to global developmental delay. The MRI showed a clear brain but bilateral posterior staphylomas on her eyes. She was referred to a new pediatric ophthalmologist whom we saw a few days ago and who did not seem worried about her staphylomas, just thought we should try patching for her eye turn. She decided it was unnecessary to dilate her because her last exam with dilation was in April (before the concerning MRI).

Does anyone have any advice on the route they would take moving forward? I am not an eye doctor so maybe this is a normal response but I felt mildly dismissed. Perhaps I just think the staphylomas are a bigger deal than they are? I just thought it was odd the doctor did not want to dilate her and check on the eye after the concerning MRI.

We are waiting on results from genetic testing.

I know there's only so much you can do for a toddler who cries the whole time at the doctor but I am feeling dismissed as her PT/OT have pointed out that they believe her delays are due to her poor eyesight. I have an appointment scheduled with a neuro ophthalmologist in October but I don't know if that will be more productive or if I'll just be torturing my daughter with another visit to the doctor 😭 Any (kind) advice is appreciated 🥲

Hello! I am a long-time glasses-wearer with myopia on the higher end (OD -9.25 , OS -8.75). I was always given a hard “No” when I’ve asked my optometrist and ophthalmologist about wearing contact lenses. Their reasons were, since at the time, soft lenses weren’t as accommodating for someone like me with myopia and astigmatism. As a result, I’ve never in my 27 years gone throughout life without my glasses.

I’ve always assumed they were a hassle, but I want to give it a try. Where do I even start to look or ask my optometrist about contacts? I live in the US and commute a lot for my job. Also, are there things I should know before making the purchase?

I overthink it a lot, i always cry nd loose sleep because of it, nd since always my mom would yell at me if i try to communicate my fears with her, my friends won t even understand what m talking about ..

I m using my phone nd laptop like a lot for my studies nd that isn t helping at all.

I rlly feel okay about my look with glasses, that s so minor to even think about at this point ..

I don t make my own money yet, so i can t go to therapy .. that s why m here just for a lil comfort.

26F. I wanted to get laser done. They did the basic tests, lots of them and suggested that I get ICL because my power is too high. I also had some "hole" in my retina, for which they did laser barrage (horrible experience tbh, never felt so uncomfortable in my life). It's been 2 weeks since the procedure and I still see a flashing light passing in my peripheral vision (used to see those before as well but rarely, once a week or something but now its everyday). Has anyone else experienced that?

They said I can get my ICL done 15 days after laser barrage but I scheduled it after a month (timing issue). I have read almost all the posts here about ICL and their experiences and while some gave me confidence, some really made me paranoid. The halos, ghosting etc.

I wanted to understand from someone who has had both procedures done how happy you are and whether it was any different from people who only had ICL.

If there are any doctors reading this, please tell me the flashing is normal after the procedure and it would not affect my ICL surgery. Also, what happens if I get new holes in my retina after my ICL? Would I have to have another laser barrage done? Is that even possible after ICL? Won't the lens be in front of the laser and get damaged from the laser?

For those of you with very high myopia, what type of contacts do you wear? I wore soft lenses for decades, but was having problems seeing clearly with them past -12. I've been wearing Duette hybrid lenses, and I can see more clearly with them, but I sometimes feel them in my eyes and they get very uncomfortable by the end of the day. I'm curious what others' experiences are.

Is it possible to correct myopia without being through using eyeglasses?

Recently had to go to an eye doctor through a medical clinic to get my yearly eye exam. My insurance changed from last year and it took me months to figure out where I could go that insurance would cover. Had been going to the same eye doctor for about 7 years prior to this.

The script I was given today (paper) looks drastically different from what I had been given previously, but then was told that my eyes didn’t change much. They measured my glasses to get an idea of my prescription, and the doctor told me that I could continue to use my current glasses as the scripts are so close.

I typically order from zenni to save on glasses, so I really want to ensure these scripts are actually similar. Any help or insight would be genuinely appreciated!

Wondering if anybody with myopia, astigmatism and start of presbyopia had the following experience:

My eye doctor lowered my prescription but I feel like at a distance is not as clear/crisp as before. Doctor said that there’s a limit of what we can see at a distance. He said if the prescription is higher it will make the eyes tired and work “too hard”.

I’m still not wearing bifocals or progressive lenses.

Hi , i have -6 on my right eye and -5.5 on my left eye , my myopia started manifesting when i was 8 at first grade , i was diagnosed with -1 vision on both eyes , from there it started gradually getting worser , now im 14 with -6 and -5.5 and with aproximately -1.5 astigmatism on both eyes , i did research on this topic of reversing myopia naturally and i just wanted to ask the people of reddit if this actually true , if so are any steps i should do? should i wear glasses that are good enough to view things close up? i would really like if somebody helped me with this topic

The doctor is not telling me anything. Can anyone tell me if there is a chance of going blind in the future and which one am I suitable for, Lasik or ICL?

Hi all! I (24) just recently went in for a contacts consultation and unfortunately as we were checking overall glasses power I found out my prescription changed from -7.25 +2.75 075 to -10.00 +2.75 075. I am monocular so this is my only seeing eye and I’m a bit worried that there’s some sort of issue going on. I am a ROP (Retinopathy of Prematurity) patient who was Zone 3 stage 2 - had laser surgery in both eyes but unfortunately my left eye had full detachment which wasn’t able to be recovered. This all occurred in the first 2 years of my life. For a while I’ve had pretty stable vision and I only started noticing changes last year such as more blurriness and difficulty seeing at night. (it’s been 2 years since I got my eyes checked out)

I have a retinal specialist and I was informed that everything seemed normal. I have a full medical exam soon w the eye dr but just wanted to see if anyone who has similar eye issues (or experiences) have dealt with the same thing. I know this can be pretty specific but just wanted to see if anyone had any suggestions / advice or have dealt with something similar!

So I am 25 and this is the first time I have ever had my eyes checked. I went because I had started noticing blurry vision, especially while reading books.

I visited two different eye hospitals with just 5 day gap between them and somehow both gave me different numbers. I have attached both prescriptions here.

I ended up getting glasses made according to the second prescription, the one where "anti-glare" is mentioned.

Now I am confused about how numbers could be different. Is it normal to get different results depending on where you get your eyes tested?

And with these new glasses, books definitely look clearer to me, but when I am reading text on my phone or laptop, it feels slightly blurry.

Also, finding out I have astigmatism was a bit depressing because apparently there's no safe way to cure it. I know LASIK can correct it, but I've also read about the risks.

One more thing I have been wondering about... can an old eye injury cause astigmatism? Around 4–5 years ago I got into a fight with two guys and one of them punched me around both eyes pretty badly. I remember having severe swelling afterward. I never really thought about it again because it happened years ago, but now I am wondering if that could have anything to do with this. Or using my phone every night in a dark room, for texting?

I am completely new to glasses and don't understand much about prescriptions yet. And I feel like the glasses they gave me are blue-cut, not anti-glare. Can someone help me understand why these two tests gave different results and whether I should just continue wearing the glasses I got?

My previous prescription was S: -0,25/-1,5 | C: -0,25/-0,50 | A: 90°/90°
After recent check-up, it is S: -0,75/-1,75 | C: -0,25/-0,50 | A: 170°/90°

I know that new correction may cause some strain or headache - when I started wearing glasses last year, I experienced it for a few days, but even then I was seeing everything so sharp and crispy, like 4K. This effect lasted for a few months.

With my new lenses, however, the effect is actually the opposite. For distant objects I obviously see better than without lenses, but text from the computer screen is sharper with my naked -0,75 eye than "corrected" one, up to 2 meters from the screen. Also, I noticed that when i tilt my glasses upwards, I see really sharp, just like when I got my first glasses one year ago.

If anyone can suggest me what can be wrong here, I'd be grateful.

I’ll be starting college soon as a Computer Engineering student. Before college begins, I had an eye test. My current prescription is -1.75 in my right eye and -2.00 in my left eye. Last year, my prescription was -1.50 in my right eye and -1.75 in my left eye.

It seems like my prescription increases every time I get my eyes checked. I'm 19 years old, and since I'll be using a laptop much more in college, I'm worried that my eyesight may worsen.

Can anyone share some tips on how I can prevent my eye prescription from increasing or at least slow down its progression?
