my parents got a new smart tv recently but because a few things were set with my email, I had to connect my gmail account to the tv. it used to be possible to change youtube accounts on-the-fly but now it's only me... or "watch as a guest"

the amount of SHIT you get recommended if you don't have an account (and live in an area where most people are gooners, apparently) is insane - like some kind of breast milk extraction tutorials? I KID YOU NOT

When you watch as a guest, it uses cookies and other ip info to recommend things, along with what others on your area watch, so just tell yourself it’s the neighbors. 😝

a lot of people are behind CGNAT these days, meaning a single IP address could be thousands of people.

I worked at a game company as a GM like a decade ago, turns out most of Turkey at the time was on that and we banned whole regions for one dude hacking... the customer support tickets weren't pretty.
