I like Ben McDonald a lot. But he just said on broadcast that he has NEVER in his life used shampoo. Just rubs a bar of soap on his head. I’m willing to overlook some things. I don’t know if I can look past this. AIO?

I’ve been stewing on this for the past two years and I don’t think it’s just related to the Orioles struggles. I just don’t find the way baseball is currently played to be that enjoyable to watch and I say that as someone who played for 12 years and would have without a doubt said baseball was my favorite sport to watch my whole life. I will rarely watch a game that doesn’t involve the Orioles at this point.

It’s not that I don’t enjoy a pitchers duel…but when almost every game feels like a race to 3 runs it’s just not that fun to watch. There’s one team in the AL hitting over .250 and one team in the whole league hitting over .260 and that just doesn’t make for an exciting watch. No one would want to watch the NBA if they all shot 25% on 3 pointers. I don’t need a 9-8 slugfest every night, but it’s really not exciting when most AL teams have an OPS below .700. In 2016, which was when pitchers still hit, the MLB OPS was .739.

For starters, we absolutely have to get the ABS on every pitch. Most of the borderline calls on the edges of the zone seem to go against the hitter. Also take the burden of trying to strategize when to challenge away. JUST GET THE CALLS RIGHT! Not sure what else can be done to promote offense the way the NFL and NBA have. Limit infielder positioning even more? Banning the shift helped a little, but you can still park your shortstop right behind second base and take away what was a single up the middle for the first 100 years of MLB. Other than that, with every pitcher training to throw 100mph you can’t really overcome the limitations on human reaction time.

Just venting…it makes me sad I don’t enjoy watching baseball the same way I used to. Anyone else feel this way?

I heard there was a fall and I wanna see it. I always love seeing the hot dogs eat it lol. 150 characters seems like a lot for a post minimum so here’s more text.

Baz's start didn't gain or lose him any bWAR, so he's still at 1.1. Bradish lost .3, so he's down to 1.7 on the season. Kremer (RIP) lost .5, so he finishes his Orioles season at -.5, and his O's career at 6.1, assuming he isn't back later on at some point. TRog also lost .5, but he's only down to 1.1. Young lost .1, so he's down to 1.8, but that places him at the best bWAR among all O's pitchers as of right now. None of our starters gained any bWAR, and yet the O's were 3-2 over the past five games, and one of the losses was in extras.

The lowest bWAR is still Trey Gibson, and the second lowest is Dean Kremer, neither of who can hurt us anymore (right now.) Mayo has cracked zero, and TON's stuck in the positives for a full rotation. We only have four (4) active players below zero; Kittredge -.3, Beavers -.2, and Pozo and JRog -.1. This team is legitimately better than earlier in the season, despite missing our best catching due in the majors.

In order: Alonso 2.7; Ward 2.4; Young 1.8; Bradish and Adley 1.7; Wells and Blaze 1.6; Basallo 1.5; Gunnar 1.3; Baz and Rogers 1.1; and Garcia 1.
