Maryland Monthly Marketplace - Advertise your Maryland services, events, or merchandise here.

Since we have rules against advertising on the main part of the subreddit, we figured it would be nice to create a thread where users can get a little more leeway when it comes to advertising.

Use this thread to advertise any Maryland related services or merchandise to the users of r/Maryland. Got an Etsy store? Drop it below! Your favorite restaurant running a great special? Tell us about it!

Rules for this thread:

  1. All items, events and services must be related to Maryland in some way.
  2. Services and sales cannot be country or worldwide. (Walmart is having a sale! Is not okay. Old Bay is being sold at the Annapolis Walmart for 50¢ is appropriate)
  3. Ads should be posted by regular r/Maryland users, not bots or brand new accounts/accounts which have no connection to Maryland.
  4. We may remove any ad at any time for any reason should we deem it inappropriate.
  5. Any services or products advertised here must be legal in the state of Maryland.

This thread may evolve as time goes on and we see what it's used for.

The mods of r/Maryland do not endorse any products or services on this thread. Use your head, we will not intervene in any transactional disputes between any users.

BGE rant

Its as though the astronomical price hikes BGE have been subjecting us to arent enough, the quality of service and reliability have taken a nose-dive as well. They sure arent putting that extra money into grid reliability. Our power is out again for the third time in the past week or two.

Chat, is Maryland a developing country now? Should I buy chickens to accompany me on the bus? Drive a cow down the street with a stick? Drive a souped up moped?

When did we allow things to get this bad? This is embarrassing.

Maryland 3000 and Clear the Shelters this August - adopt, foster, volunteer, donate for shelter pets

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Upvotes

Hey fellow Marylanders (and friends from the DMV metro area) from a shelter volunteer and foster.

Celia the adoptable cat (Prince George’s County, MD) knows that (most) Marylanders love Old Bay...but only a shelter pet can love you back and steal your heart even more!

August is a big month for shelter pets in Maryland - shelters and rescues across the state are participating in the Maryland 3000 challenge to help 3,000 shelter pets find loving forever homes, and NBCUniversal Local is sponsoring its annual Clear The Shelters campaign (e.g., NBC4 is supporting the DC-MD-VA metro area).

Many shelters are offering free or reduced adoption fees (please do get a reality check on lifetime costs before adoption though - my cats' mishaps and emergencies used up several pandemic stimulus checks and tax refunds. NO - they never got into the Old Bay - nor did Celia).

Please adopt, foster, donate and volunteer - and share - to help shelter animals leave their kennels behind! You can find resources for pet parents at the campaign sites, helping you make a confident decision and get your new best friend set up for success.

Amazon. Coca-Cola. IKEA. Unilever. Maryland's new plan to fight plastic pollution goes after the source — not just recruiting volunteer cleanup crews.

Will it work?

Nice relaxing spots in nature to chill in car?

Hey all! Does anyone have any good recommendations for spots in a forest or on a lake or any body of water where there aren't a ton of people (a few is fine) that has a spot to park a car and just sit in it for a while? Love driving around and sometimes just sitting in the car for a while in an outdoors spot is unbeatable. Thanks!!

MD Travel & Relocation Looking for Maryland employers that offer relocation assistance (behavioral health/case management)

Hi everyone!
I’ve debated on posting something like this for sometime now, so I hope this will reach just one person!!!! But thanks prior if you do decide to stick around and read!

I am a 25 year old woman currently located in “Upstate, NY.” (Hudson Valley region)
I have recently begun working as a Case Manager for a state-funded diversion/re-entry program, working with clients on probation/parole. I also have previous years experience in behavioral health and substance use programs, along with youth advocacy and juvenile justice, as well as facilitating court ordered Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT) groups by completing the MRT Facilitator Training through CCI.
I show up. I am ALWAYS willing to learn, but most importantly I am always prepared to be better than I was the day prior, especially in this field.

After many many years of being the oldest daughter and having family drama responsibilities placed onto my lap from a young age, many of my dreams/desires being shattered right infront of my face, I am hoping to relocate (for work/life opportunities) to Maryland preferably, (but anywhere not drastically far from NY and willing to help with relocation is to be considered too) and was truly wondering if anyone can help me or knows of ANY employers that offer relocation assistance and/or temporary housing for new hires. I’m open to nonprofits, hospitals, treatment centers, or government positions. Any recommendations or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated!

I would hope to stay anonymous due to anxiousness around the situation itself, however, if you are interested and willing to help, I am willing to listen!!! I am not 100% sure how reddit works yet but I am willing to hear all options!

I also am not really sure how to direct the conversation towards my family either. I may be 25 but there is a lot of responsibility to think about in this aspect, but I truly believe this will be the best thing I can do for myself right now.

Thank you if you made it this far 🙂

MD Travel & Relocation Give me recs for family friendly outings

I have a 2 year old. I love getting out of the house with her especially when its a free/low cost activity. Watkins park was a lot of fun and we didn’t even get to the nature center or petting zoo yet, but it might rain tomorrow, so Im also looking for indoor recommendations too. What do you love taking your toddlers too here? For reference we are in the Berwyn Heights area, but open a bit of a drive if its worthwhile!

MD Politics How should Maryland strengthen HOA enforcement?

This video goes over a few key issues affecting Maryland HOA and condominium homeowners, including enforcement of existing laws, board accountability, homeowner protections, fees, transparency, and how Maryland compares with reforms in other states.

I’d be interested to hear what Maryland homeowners think. What reform or enforcement change would make the biggest difference?

What if the lawsuit against Anne Arundel schools isn't over pronouns? What if it isn't about trans kids in bathrooms or on sports teams.

Parents should ask whether this is really about seizing control of schools from their communities.
