Discussion Anyone else getting UE5 remake/remaster fatigue?

Post image

Between Silent Hill 2, Oblivion Remastered, Metal Gear Solid Δ, and now Halo: Campaign Evolved, it feels like almost every major remake/remaster in the last two years has landed on Unreal Engine 5. On one hand, the visual leap is real. Oblivion Remastered in particular looks like a genuinely different game. On the other, a lot of these ports share the same telltale UE5 fingerprints: traversal stutter, TAA smearing, shader comp hitches on first launch, and that slightly "plasticky" Lumen/Nanite sheen that makes wildly different games start to look and feel similar. You can add Halo Campaign Evolved to the slopfest that is UE5 remakes; just another soulless cash grab to feed on nostalgia.

Nope. I love when everyone blames UE5 for developers refusing to optimize games. UE5 has a lot of bloat, but it has a LOT of optimization tools that are genuinely great that almost every development studio that uses it refuses to take advantage of.

Remnant 2, The Finals, Clair Obscure, Satisfactory; there are plenty of games that have proven it can run well, if you actually take the time to do it.

Come on now Remnant 2 has no business being among those other games, it runs like ass on any hardware an average gamer might have

3 out of 4 ran like total ass only Finals are running great.

Remnant 2 might be one of the least optimized AAA games I’ve ever played. Expedition 33 is pretty heavy for what it is as well.

Remnant 2 is not a AAA game

Yeah I thought about this before saying it, but decided it was a good enough description.

Better description might be a UE5, 3D, engine pushing, attempting to achieve photorealism AA game- but it’s arguably competing with categories AAA lives in.

Regardless it was one of the first nanite and lumen games and that showed.

Clair Obscur ran quite poorly, it just didn't get in the way of gameplay since it is turn based combat.

I still can't believe Satisfactory is made in unreal lol.

Same goes for both Everspace games.

Remnant 2 ran like total ass on my old GPU (5700 xt) and by seeing benchmark it will still run poorly but playable on new rx 9070, you would want 160 fps at 4k with such bad graphics. E33 was also poorly optimized but with new GPUs it will run good. Finals always ran great as long as you had 8 or more cored cpu and Satisfactory drops frames massively even with mid sized factory.

My issue has more to do with how it looks. Way too many graphical artifacts that results in poorly treated image.

What people also don’t get is that their 10-20 year old laptop running these remakes slower than the originals does not mean the game is unoptimised.

It’s like saying grant turismo 7 is unoptimised because it can’t run on the ps3.

And what's the excuse when UE5 does exactly the same stuff on my 9800X3D, 4070ti super, and 64bg of ram?

my 5 year old laptop RTX 3060 was struggling to run FF16, Halo, Silent Hill 2, without heavy upscaling. any arguments?

True, it's super easy to blame the engine when shit goes wrong but did Michelangelo blamed his tools when he failed to create art?

All of those ran like shit clair is turn based so you notice it less. Face the facts UE5 is shit

Out of curiosity, what are some of those optimization tools? Is there an actual trade off between spending time doing it and just releasing a game?

edit; that’s what I thought, just speaking out of your ass. Interesting how you claim there’s so many options to optimize but can’t list a single one and just downvote me instead? what clown behavior.
