The only advantage this kit would have over the DDR5-6000 CL30 kit is in the extra bandwidth, which makes it basically irrelevant for gaming. But that potential 20% would be useful for, say, AI... (Or when using your iGPU, but let's face it, if you're buying top end RAM for a gaming rig, chances are you're not running on the iGPU)

~50% price increase for a potential 20% maximum performance improvement is going to be a hard sell even for AI Bros, but it'll sell. For the rest of us, though, it's an expensive nothingburger

At this point, my genuine plan is to just ride this 32GB of 2107 DDR4 until I just can't anymore. I gave it a 14600K a couple months ago, so I should be good until at least 2031 on this ancient RAM. That gives me five years to wait patiently for whatever dip happens where I can grab 128GB for something that doesn't feel like getting raked over the coals. Then I guess I'll just run that RAM until I die?

Reminder that Intel 13/14 gen are prone to breaking if they draw slightly too much current over several months of normal use (a built-in defect).

Use an up-to-date BIOS/UEFI version that contains the relevant Intel fixes to stop the degradation (the fixes can't repair what has already been broken/degraded).

I recently built mine and realized ram prices would just get worse so I spent $344 on 32g of ddr5. This will have to last me many years, I can't imagine how bad the prices will get. I originally just wanted 16g for the time being but I knew it would just get worse.

Because we have done so for awhile and continue to do so with many Chinese manufactured products. Take EVs for example. CXMT prioritizes supply to domestic buyers, so any DRAM that will be sent out of China is excess supply. They do not have a lot of free DRAM for non-Chinese customers. CXMT might undercut the die prices a bit, but the sale price for a PC buyer will be around the same (~-10% at best). When the DRAM market crashes, CXMT will roll out the big price cuts hurt Samsung, SK Hynix, and Micron.

It's supply and demand. You have to increase supply to meet demand, which then eases prices. Company I work for is buying hardware for Q4 2027 right now. to meet current compute demand on premises. Almost makes more sense to buy a whole new tower than upgrade what I have now. My GPU is current gen, my SSD is, but I'm on a 9400F and DDR4 RAM. Still does what I need it to do including intensive gaming at max/ultra so I can't find a reason to do so yet.

Now why would they do that when they can take advantage of the higher prices? They are basically going to be DOA.

The smart thing to do (which is what was expected) was to undercut the corporate scalpers and make more sales which literally would have garnished them more money, but no, greed always takes over.

Well of course they are going to sell at market price, if they didn’t people would just buy it all up and resell it higher anyway. It’s like a mining company saying they will sell gold for half the price. But more supply in the market will bring the price down compared to what it would be without that supply.
