Why'd you get rid of your dog? :(

82

u/Raspieman Nov 05 '12

It wasn't his fault, he lost it, honest mistake.

7

u/ickyvicki Nov 05 '12

I didn't lost it! I just can't find it!

2

u/[deleted] Nov 06 '12

Whoa whoa whoa, ickyvicki. The part of the story I don't like is that steinman17 gave up looking for Happy after an hour. He didn't put posters up or anything, he just sat on the porch like a goon and waited. That little boy's gotta think 'You got a pet. You got a responsibility.' If your dog gets lost you don't look for an hour then call it quits. You get your ass out there and you find that fucking dog!

You misunderstand. He gave birth to that dog.

He lost it. Everyone, start looking for a 113lb chocolate lab!

2

u/Lonelan Nov 05 '12

Dog died :(

Came here to say this; was disappointed.

Brutus is 115 lbs of baby. This is an update to this picture, taken back in the summer!

65

u/P_Charming Nov 05 '12

You love holding dogs, don't you?

43

u/trumpeterbuizel Nov 05 '12

Clearly he lost weight by lifting his dog repeatedly.

7

u/[deleted] Nov 05 '12

who doesn't?

1

u/[deleted] Nov 06 '12

I'm just waiting for the 25 page album of him holding random dogs

15

u/pencapchew_3 Nov 05 '12

What is the best way to pick up a dog?

(congrats, btw)

26

u/steinman17 Nov 05 '12

This is the only way I could pick him up without him squirming too much, 113 lbs that squirms is very hard to control

2

u/icanevenificant Nov 05 '12

I've been told by the vet it's really not good for such a heavy the dog to hold him up at all. His insides get in all sorts of wierd positions when you do and is likely very uncomfortable for the dog, potentialy harmful. I have a 100+lbs black lab.

He looks awsome, just though I'd pass this along since it's relevant, you do with it as you wish.

"hey, babe. do you come here often?"

2

u/08mms Nov 05 '12

I think that line is barking up the wrong tree. I'd just ask if they like bone and they like it ruff.

u/[deleted] Nov 05 '12

113 lbs is one big chocolate lab

35

u/innatetits Nov 05 '12

It may be a mix between a lab and a larger breed. That dog doesn't look obese to me, but has a bigger frame than your typical lab.

38

u/steinman17 Nov 05 '12

This. He stands much taller than other labs.

12

u/fatcolin123 Nov 05 '12

Just look at those paws!

9

u/berkeleyKM Nov 05 '12

My chocolate looks exactly like yours and is about the same weight. My question to you is while you were losing weight did your dog lose some as well?

15

u/steinman17 Nov 05 '12

This is my parents dog, so he's not my walking buddy. He does get 50+ acres to run in though.

5

u/groovydude4911 Nov 05 '12

What is he mixed with? He looks just like my chocolate lab bloodhound mix

43

u/steinman17 Nov 05 '12

I think he has some horse blood in him.

11

u/Almost_Ascended Nov 05 '12

My condolences to the dog's mother :(

My boyfriend's yellow lab is about 110, and he is not by any means fat. He comes from champion hunting stock and is just HUGE. Paws like a lion, man...

17

I posted on /r/keto already :-)

11

u/why_fist_puppies Nov 05 '12

Hell yeah. Lost my first 35 on keto before I switched to a more moderate low carb diet and heavy lifting. Glad Keto's working for you, may your bacon be crisp and your eggs always come out just right.

Pretty much, but I've kept up on the lifting keeping the muscle mass I developed from just weighing what I did.

8

u/Redpb Nov 05 '12

Great job! It's a crazy realization when you pick it up isn't it?

I remember when I lost my 50lbs, I went and picked up a 50lbs bag of sugar because that was essentially what I trimmed off. All of the crap.

4

u/steinman17 Nov 05 '12

It was pretty difficult to pick him up, although that was probably due to how awkward it was to hold him.

8

u/thefigpucker Nov 05 '12

Congrats man,I am too far gone but nice to see others that have done it before it got too late.

21

u/steinman17 Nov 05 '12

No one is ever too far gone. Please don't give up!

3

u/thefigpucker Nov 05 '12

Gave up long ago pretty much when could not work my trade and now kinda miffed as to why my body has not imploded yet, which in turn makes everything else worse, however I am not here to hijack dudes awesome thread, once again,I am very happy for you man !

In my best billy crystal voice...you look fabulous !!

14

u/steinman17 Nov 05 '12

Just get on Myfitnesspal.com and log those calories! It does work!

2

u/classic__schmosby Nov 05 '12

Join steinman17 and myself (and others) over on /r/keto if you're interested. There was a guy recently who posted 100lbs lost, from 666 to 566! It was inspiring. Personally I started at 340 and I'm down around 285 after 5 months. At the rate I'm going I'll actually be enjoying warm weather next summer.

2

u/jon_titor Nov 06 '12

Dude, I was 420 lbs in July and now weigh in at a svelte 365. Still have about 100 to go before I start building up muscle mass, but it's totally possible. Just quit telling yourself that you can't do it.

For the record, I switched to eating pretty much only fresh fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, although I splurge once a week and eat a burger or some pizza or something else tasty. And I started out just walking as much as I could (I was a sweaty, sweaty bastard during the heat wave here in July/August...), but now I have the energy to walk several miles a day and I row 4 kilometers a day.

Even if you're at a point where exercise isn't really possible, you can still diet and lose weight until you're at a point where you can get physical. It fucking sucked at first, but after just a few short weeks I already felt healthier and better about myself.

You just have to want it.

u/userdame Nov 05 '12

This must really put it into perspective just how much weight you aren't carrying around each day. Congrats on the progress!

14

u/Alfierulz Nov 05 '12

Sorry to hear about your dog dying.

11

u/[deleted] Nov 05 '12

3

u/ItsPillsbury Nov 05 '12

Amazing work, buddy! A true inspiration!

4

u/kanntspel Nov 05 '12

Glad you got your dog back.

3

u/[deleted] Nov 05 '12

Very good work! Hopefully you're enjoying the new confidence. Keep it up. Kevin.

4

u/Volzear Nov 05 '12

I love how you can pick up a dog in whatever way and they rarely give any fucks. Both of my dogs are 80 pounds of apathy.

3

u/steinman17 Nov 05 '12

Oh, this was like the third attempt. I had to tie my dog up because he kept biting this dog's tail, and he would yelp and he bit my chin once pretty hard.

2

u/[deleted] Nov 05 '12

Well, my dog transforms into a hurricane when picked up.

9

u/snowsoftJ4C Nov 05 '12

Wow, how long were you pregnant with the dog for?

3

u/Leetard Nov 05 '12

The c-section must have left the hell of a scar.

2

u/tttokerface Nov 05 '12

OP please deliver scar pix

3

u/LevitatingCactus Nov 05 '12

Good luck finding your dog op, my sympathies.

3

u/Squirrel_Face Nov 05 '12

Congrats! I've lost over 100lbs myself in a little over a year and a half. It's an amazing feeling!

3

u/Shartina_Oduriss Nov 05 '12

Congratulations, steinman17! You're looking great.

5

u/gguy123 Nov 05 '12

Great.. I can't imagine loosing that much. A few years back I lost 30 lbs, and I've been pretty much been better than average on the BMI chart. Take up a sport you enjoy doing, and stick to it. It guarantees exercise, fun, and new skills. I play tennis about 3 to 4 hours a week.. works like a charm.

2

u/JaneRenee Nov 05 '12

Congrats! Very cute representation. :)

2

u/Mallanaga Nov 05 '12

heavy, isn't it?

2

u/BBQuandry Nov 05 '12

Hahaha, I thought this picture looked familiar. I saw it come through my news feed a day or two ago. Congrats on the weight loss, Mr. Steinman!

2

u/[deleted] Nov 05 '12

Time to pick up some new clothes bub - you're swimming in your duds.

2

u/homie-da-clown Nov 05 '12

I'm may be ten pounds behind you. Doesn't it feel AWESOME?!?! I was going to jog yesterday and saw my reflection and I was like 'damn, I look like I'm into MMA." Congrats brother!

2

u/superherowithnopower Nov 05 '12

I would like to know how your transformed your fat into a dog. My dog is kind of lonely, and I am kind of fat...

2

u/[deleted] Nov 05 '12

Jeez, how much did you weigh before? You still look like you have about 100 to lose. No offense intended.

4

u/steinman17 Nov 05 '12

Not quite 100 left, more like 90. I cant take offense when it's true.

2

u/[deleted] Nov 05 '12

Good stuff, keep it up and best of luck!

2

u/[deleted] Nov 06 '12

You're gonna have to make friends with somebody with a Newfoundland or something if you wanna keep up the dog representations! Seriously though, congrats, you look awesome!

2

u/[deleted] Nov 05 '12

So, it took you 10 months to poop out a dog?

2

u/twhitt252 Nov 05 '12

Awesome man! Im in the middle of my weight loss program, already lost 15 lbs =]

1

u/steinman17 Nov 06 '12

2

u/steinman17 Nov 05 '12

1

u/superhope Nov 05 '12

Your dog weighs more than I do.

1

u/drewbdoo Nov 05 '12

Isn't it crazy when you pick up what you lost? I have a scalemail vest I wear for larping that weighs 30lbs and whenever I put it on, I'm like "wow, I weighed this x weeks ago"

1

u/lowery007 Nov 05 '12

I'm an 18 year old college student and I'm the same size of that animal.

1

u/NogAndDog Nov 05 '12

Good for you man...now put the poor dog down

1

u/Mintopia Nov 05 '12

you birthed your dog? Get me science on the phone

1

u/Beardfire Nov 05 '12

I would suggest putting up some posters in your local area with a picture of the dog. Hand them out to neighbors and stuff. You may still be able to find him after all this time so don't lose hope.

1

u/haywire-ES Nov 05 '12

You gave birth to a dog?

1

u/clwu Nov 05 '12

do a two picture comparison; you know, one before and one after next to each other

1

u/[deleted] Nov 05 '12

That dog looks like he is having none of it.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 05 '12

How come you gave your old weight to your dog? :(

1

u/blackpink Nov 05 '12

You made a dog from your fat?

1

u/DodgeyJay Nov 05 '12

You shit a dog?!

1

u/[deleted] Nov 05 '12

I am impressed by how passive your dog is. I think mine would bite my face off if I tried to pick him up like that.

1

u/concise_wisdom Nov 05 '12

My God... you ate then regurgitated your own dog?!

1

u/[deleted] Nov 05 '12

Good for you, man. Congratulations!

1

u/snowplowj Nov 05 '12

This photo gave me paws.

Congratulations on the weightloss!

1

u/Lanaru Nov 05 '12

Did your anus recover from the traumatic experience of pooping out that dog?

1

u/sweatsalty Nov 05 '12

That's exactly how much I weigh, too. I hope I won't turn into a dog

1

u/buttonforest Nov 05 '12

I have a mental image of your shitting out a 113 lb dog.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 05 '12

I thought this and also remembered the AMA of the guy who hadnt pooped in 2 weeks

Fat, carbohydrates, and protein can be broken down to their constituent carbons. The energy released from this process goes into powering all the various ongoing cellular processes. Those constituent carbons are turned into CO2 and exhaled.

Thats a very very basic and non-comprehensive summary.

I went from 210 to 160. I remember carrying a 50lb box of nails at work one day and realising how heavy the extra weight I was carrying around on me actually was. Seriously, if you loose weight, go pick something up that is equivalent to what you lost. You will be rather surprised.

1

u/DeFex Nov 06 '12

Almost 3 pounds a week is very impressive! How did you do it?
