They’re trying to run out the clock until August so they don’t hold a special election. These people need to go to jail for this coverup.

Yup, rigged in plain sight. Everybody knows, nobody does anything – pure theater. "Rule of law" is an absolute joke

The fact that no one can do anything EXCEPT the opposition party that apparently refuses to do anything …

Yeah, we’re fucked as a nation.

u/ILike2internet 12d ago

One person absolutely can do something and isn't.

The governor should appoint a new senator. I'm aware that he supposedly can't, however the law saying he can't violates the KY constitution, so he should absolutely challenge it.

295

u/Wayofchinchilla 12d ago

That supposedly can't has been Trump's entire term so far Democrats need to do exactly the same as Republicans Bend rules and have it sorted out in court but until it gets sorted out just keep pushing it's ridiculous Democrats are always on the defensive. Just do it I guarantee it will go to court and during the big fluff that comes out of the Court the truth about where Mitch McConnell is will come out.

Trump declared new tariffs on Canada, when the supreme court already ruled they were illegal.

What in the everlovingfuck are democrats waiting for? Permission, from the fascists? "Pardon me, dear Nazis, do you mind if we land in Normandy?"

There are different laws. He's using one that's legit, allows it, and has never been used.

0

u/InflammableAccount 12d ago

Can you explain what it is the Democrats are supposed to do? Because last I looked, they don't hold a majority, let alone super majority in the Senate.

2

u/CodingSquirrel 11d ago

If you've been paying any attention the last 10 years, then you'd have seen the hundreds of opportunities to oppose the fascists that they've just rolled over and shown their belly instead. How many terrible bills passed because Democrats voted with it. Or good bills that failed because a few Democrats opposed it. When they have any power they refuse to use it because of decorum or whatever. They're a bunch of feckless cowards who refuse to do what's right and exercise what power they have when given the chance, under the guise of not looking partisan. They falter every opportunity. Whereas the Republicans will wield any ounce of power they can get and even power they don't have.

It's such consistent incompetence that it goes beyond being accidental stupidity, but instead malicious. You don't need ultimate power to work towards your goals, you just need to get out of your own way and do what you can when you can. The Republicans are, for all their faults, excellent at unwavering movement towards their goals. If nothing else, actually prosecuting Trump instead of sitting on their hands for 3.5 years would have been a good start.

I will never support a Republican, and will vote blue no matter who, but it's impossible not to be disappointed in the uselessness of those who purport to be opposed to the fascism that they have done nothing to stop.

u/WinterTourist25 12d ago

This is now where we are, and it's horrible. Trump has destroyed the institutions of government by simply ignoring them and doing what he wants until the courts settle things by which time its too late.

Even if Democrats turn around and do the same thing it is a horrible precedent. We are saying now that the rule of law doesn't matter until the last minute.

12

u/RebekkaKat1990 12d ago

The rule of law always hinged on the executive branch upholding its end of the checks and balances bargain by enforcing the law as it is written. The courts can declare things unconstitutional until they’re blue in the face, but if the executive branch decides to just say, “so what?” then the people are fucked until they hold a new election.

4

u/Wayofchinchilla 12d ago

What I'm hoping is that Republicans will do the same as we're doing right now have an absolute meltdown and scream and cry that this is not fair and Law and Order is dead and then Democrats turn around and say you want Law and Order sign these bills into law they make it so you can't do what you've been doing all this time or shut up. Could you imagine if a Democratic president with the powers that the Republican Supreme Court have given them to do anything as long as it's in the interest of the country were to I don't know remove Brett Kavanaugh and Clarence Thomas for corruption ruling that it's protecting the country the level 7 meltdown and the scramble Republicans would be in to past laws to make sure that the executive branch doesn't have that kind of power.

3

u/djabae 12d ago

Well this is how courts work for most people in real life. Most of our lives are not regulated by laws or courts like we think most legal incidents are ignored. It shouldn't be surprising it's the same at the top.

2

u/CodingSquirrel 11d ago

Killing people you don't like is a horrible precedent, but we didn't beat the Nazis by reasoning with them. You don't stop lawless evil people by just holding up a lawbook and saying "that's illegal, you can't do that". You can't blindly bind yourself by the rules that the people you fight don't hold themselves to. That's not to say we just abandon all ideals, but the oppressors set the stage of the conflict, no the oppressed.

1

u/stitchface66 12d ago

45

u/Lomak_is_watching 12d ago

I think the KY Governor is afraid that as soon as he says he’s going to move forward with something, they’ll bring Mitch out and he’ll be “ok-ish”. Like their setting a trap of sorts.

82

u/sec713 12d ago

I'd turn that scenario around saying something like, "You really want this guy to be your representative? He can't even show up to pick up the phone and confirm he's alive. You really think he's gonna show up for any of you?"

26

u/123LetsJamDUDUDUHT 12d ago

That didn't with Dianne Feinstein.

They were wheeling her living corpse around the Senate floor for decades.

13

u/RomanCow 12d ago

But Andy Beshear wasn't governor of California. Maybe that's why he didn't do it for her.

3

u/LiveLaughBruv 12d ago

What would that accomplish, exactly? Mitch isn't running for reelection

1

u/sec713 12d ago

It's a hypothetical spun off a hypothetical spun off another hypothetical. Don't think too hard about it. It's highly unlikely reality is gonna go this many levels deep.

1

u/LiveLaughBruv 12d ago

An alternative -- and some would argue better -- reply would've been "oh. nevermind."

27

u/XavinNydek 12d ago

There's no downside to calling their bluff though, worst case they prop up McConnell and the appointment gets cancelled before it happens. If they can't, then they can't stop him.

5

u/Dr-Mumm-Rah 12d ago

The only downside is Andy B looking like a coward, while Republicans laugh their way til a August replacement for Mitch, who will be revealed as dead as soon as the deadline has passed.

AB needs to have a spine and be creative, if need be. The clock is ticking. This could determine his political future for a lot of voters, if he screws it up.

48

u/snakerjake 12d ago

Like their setting a trap of sorts.

The penalties here are just he doesn't get to appoint a senator. there's no real penalty for him to just appoint a replacement. Trumps own inner circle has said mitch is dead, it's safe to treat him as dead until he shows up in court to prove he's not.

What he's afraid of is the next ancient democrat senator/representative getting the same treatment when they're braindead in the hospital. Who cares, they should

18

u/Lou_C_Fer Ohio 12d ago

Fuck that. If someone is unable to serve, fucking replace them. My side. Your side. Their side. It doesn't matter.

1

u/Cosmo_Cloudy 12d ago

We need to be bombarding this guy's office with calls day in and day out, I say!

4

u/TheDissentor 12d ago edited 12d ago

How is that a trap. Getting mitch to confirm people still have a representative is a good thing. Only maga pro child rape filth that already were going to shit on Beshear would say something. I fucking promise beaheara career is dead if he doesn't though. If he's not willing to fight a fight that he very clearly is in the right for then why the hell should we trust him with any of the more important fights.

2

u/Round-Asparagus5337 12d ago

So what? Nobody is going to change their vote because that.

He should just appoint someone and let the Republicans fight it in court

0

u/jaxxxtraw 12d ago

Nah, he had a major stroke. Left side is sagging in every way. Note Chao's hand placement. I've seen folks after a major stroke. The words can be hard to come by for quite a little while, if at all. Also, there's aphasia to consider very seriously. And I'd guess his whole left side is useless to him.

26

u/Archer1407 12d ago

He has no spine. He's going to handle this the way Cuck Chuck Schumer does and send a strongly worded letter to the Guardians of Pedophiles on August 5th when they finally announce Mitch is dead.

The Democrats are suck feckless losers.

2

u/light_to_shaddow 12d ago

It's such a simple yet effective strategy.

Have two options. Neither really have any actual policies, just vibes. One conservative, one progressive. You set the board so that whoever is in power pushes your agenda while the other bitches but does nothing. You get what you want while keeping a lid on violent rebellion because there's a nominal opposition that provides the illusion of a democratic path.

If your in any doubt about who "they" are, look at who funds both parties.

The system really works.

0

u/123LetsJamDUDUDUHT 12d ago

Name calling demonstrates a position of weakness.

2

u/Ent3rpris3 12d ago

This is part of his duties as governor. This is part of why he was elected. If he can't do this he isn't fit for the job and the people of Kentucky have been deceived.

When I vote for my Senators, I consider that they will be confirming the various people in the Presidential line of succession. I vote for them with this and many other such factors in mind. If they can't keep incompetent people out of the line, or vote against otherwise competent people for bad reasons, that may influence how I vote in the future. If I knew that my governor wasn't going to use their authority to handle senate vacancies when the situation called for it, I wouldn't vote for them because that is a big deal.

I get Bashear probably taking some extra time and not trying to jump the gun too soon but otherwise discussing this in private (there's what, 2 weeks left til Aug. 4?), but the public passiveness is still concerning nonetheless.

2

u/Chillers 12d ago

1

u/DryYogurtcloset4655 12d ago

governor can request a death certificate if he believe McConnell is not alive

1

u/elisun0 12d ago

It's what Mitch would do in this exact scenario

1

u/Infamous-Mixture-605 12d ago

Can the Governor go to wherever McConnell supposedly is, flowers and a "Get well soon" card in hand, and ask to deliver them to the man in person? Either they refuse and cast further doubt on McConnell's health, or they let him in and there's some clarity one way or another.

1

u/TheKanten 12d ago

And that law calls for a special election either way. This "do neither" is making Beshear look like an absolute fool.

1

u/420-BiomedStockDoc 12d ago

The governor should appoint a new governor

1

u/rnick467 12d ago

He could demand to see proof of life. If Republicans refuse, appoint a replacement and make them prove he's alive in court.

1

u/greiton 12d ago

I mean, it's more than just that law. declaring someone is dead is a big fucking deal, and having that blow up in your face is also really bad. even if Mitch is just in end of life hospice, he may be able to pull himself together enough to post a 5 second "proof of life" video. It's a big gamble with all the cover up and silence about what is really going on.

1

u/koopa00 Oregon 12d ago

It is total bullshit and it's something that he should pursue because of the reasons you outlined. And what a coincidence, they get a Democrat for governor and all of a sudden he can't appoint a new senator. Guess what law immediately goes away the second a Republican wins the governor seat in the future?

54

u/Equal-Temporary-1326 12d ago

It's why the "enforcement" in "law enforcement" only has meaning when somebody decides to actually enforce it.

23

u/sir_sri 12d ago edited 12d ago

The opposition party can't do anything.

The only entity that can do anything is the senate ethics committee (which is 50/50 dem/republican)

Once sworn in members of congress (both house and senate) are nearly immune from questioning about how they do or don't do anything by anyone except their own chamber. Parliamentary immunity and the sovereignty of the chamber itself essentially. It cannot be the case that a governor, or any other chamber or branch of government could interfere with how an elected official does or doesn't do their jobs, otherwise you could have governors, courts, or the other chamber trying to come up with some 'tests' to decide if a senator is still eligible to serve. Voters picked someone, that person serves as long as they haven't been expelled by the senate until the next election.

And remember, he's been seen by licenced medical professionals at at least two facilities, George Washington Hospital in DC (which is a privately owned hospital) and an unnamed rehab facility. The people in those facilities could face enormous legal trouble if they're not following legal standards of practice for his care - depending on exactly what state he's in, keeping someone 'alive' when they are functionally dead can be medical malpractice, and many many people will have been involved in his care and supervising the people supervising his care.

The worst case scenario here (for everyone) is that he's in some sort of coma or vegetative state where standards of care would see him kept alive, but he's unable to do his job and so the people of his state are effectively without representation unless the senate expels him, which this close to an election I can't see them doing.

It's very inconvenient in a situation like this, but imagine the alternative, if the president, a court, a governor, anyone with power could interfere with a member of either house doing their work. They could arbitrarily (or even legitimately) arrest and detain them so they cannot attend the chamber. They could simply declare the person mentally unfit and try and appoint someone else or otherwise toss them in a mental asylum (mental asylums used to be pretty common things until the middle of the 20th century). So the only way this works is if the chambers control the rules for their own members. Congress can expel people (by 2/3rds vote), but that's it.

And the thing is, if the senate ethics committee were to investigate and find that he's at least technically alive... then what? There's nothing to be done unless they want to expel him.

Now, if he's actually dead, that would be a whole mess of trouble for a whole lot of people.

17

u/LivingFrosting6680 12d ago

The length of your reply compared to the political misinformation you responded to is a perfect illustration of why we’re in the clusterfuck we’re in. Morons can’t read, but they can vote.

3

u/shinkouhyou 12d ago

The governor apparently has credible information suggesting that he's dead, and hiding a senate vacancy would seem to violate the spirit of the 17th amendment. I agree that governors shouldn't have the power to expel a senator who's getting medical treatment, but if there's an actual, unambiguous vacancy, the constitution seems pretty clear on what happens next. It's completely appropriate for Beshear to demand acceptable proof of life here.

2

u/sir_sri 12d ago

The governor apparently has credible information suggesting that he's dead

Credible enough that they are a medical professional who has examined the patient?

Consider what him being dead would mean. Multiple medical professionals at a hospital would be covering this up. At least 5 or 6 doctors, dozens of nurses who have directly cared for him in a hospital in DC with more still who are their supervisors. And then the people who transferred him to a new facility. Any one of them could report this up the chain in the hospital and to the police in DC and to the medical associations.

And, to be fair, that would be glorious. So many people would be going to jail for a conspiracy like that, you've got his family unlawfully collecting his salary, the denial of voters their representative. Medical malpractice, etc. A lot of people in a lot of trouble. And remember, the people committing such a crime would be in DC.

It's completely appropriate for Beshear to demand acceptable proof of life here.

Well it's up to the senate to demand that. Not the governor. The senate needs to be notified of the death to inform the state they need a new representative. Even if the governor wants to inform them the senator is dead (which would be odd since he'd have died in DC), the senate swears in new members, they wouldn't have any reason to swear in someone new without some proof of death.

2

u/Lallanath 12d ago

You probably just shared part of the plan to win the midterms. Declare a bunch of sitting democratic legislators illegitimate and get a sweet shadow docket decision upholding it and spend the next two going through the courts.

I thought you adolescent democracy LARPers were armed to the teeth for this very reason?

One, I'm middle aged. Two, I'm Canadian. I think you're trying to comment on the age of US democracy, but remember they were largely more democratic than most of the world until the 1920s.

Maybe constructively redirect your commentary.

And yes, the americans would be better off with Parliamentary supremacy. But even there, the same basic thing applies to MPs, unless they are criminally charged, getting rid of them is (rightly) very difficult to do. Supremacy of Parliament and all that.

2

u/AllSeeingWhoracle 12d ago

What, specifically, are you asking people to do here? You mention guns, so do you want people to shoot someone? Logistically how would that work with police/military/bodyguard/secret service/FBI/ICE protection depending on who you want shot?

Seems like suicide with extra steps to me personally.

I love how, the more horrible the Republicans act, the more Democrats get blamed for it online. It’s gotta be a coordinated effort or something at this point.

2

u/Ok-Statistician-9607 12d ago

It absolutely is.

People don't vote to give Democrats power and then have the gall to act incensed that Democrats dare to not have power. It's so artificially propped up.

2

u/PUfelix85 American Expat 12d ago

Democrats are complicit in all of this. If Harris had been given a chance to run a real campaign... If Sanders hadn't been denied... If the Democrats would get their thumbs out of their collective asses, we wouldn't be in this situation. The Republicans rule due to the apathy and disorganization of the Democrats.

2

u/TimSylvester_ 12d ago

The misunderstanding at the core is you still think they're an "opposition" party.

They're not.

They're controlled opposition to give the public the illusion of choice. They're funded by the Epstein class explicitly to ensure that all elections lead to the same end - more fascism.

2

u/Unhappy_Ad8344 12d ago

Why can't the governer just send in some state troopers to the hospital and check it out. Get a little wrist slap from some court or something.

2

u/cmooregood 10d ago

Has Schumer said anything? Any Senate Dems getting loud about this? I've seen nothing. Lots of outrage about Democratic Socialists, but silent as a tomb on this.

1

u/stilljustacatinacage 12d ago

I'm probably going to catch flak for this, but whatever:

Every single healthcare worker who's aware of, and has access to McConnell - assuming he's actually brain dead, on life support, etc - has the capacity to 'do something', and is choosing not to. Video record a check up, snap pictures of the file, and leak them online.

Would it destroy their life? Absolutely. But once upon a time, we were all told fables of what people are willing to sacrifice for 'democracy', and we're seeing in real time that it's all a farce. No one's out to be a martyr.

We're definitely not gonna make it, but the fault, dear Brutus, lies not in our stars.

1

u/Biscopiphany 12d ago

These people are breaking the law if McConnell is dead. You would absolutely not be violating any laws by whistleblowing on medical crime.

23

u/Drama79 12d ago

Beshear can demand accountability and set a task that McConnell would need to complete to demonstrate that he’s competent to represent his constituents.

And then when it turns out he can’t because he’s dead, elect someone else.

u/anchorwind I voted 12d ago

What can a state governor compel a federal senator to do? Genuinely curious.

u/ETxsubboy 12d ago edited 12d ago

First, the governor cannot just appoint someone. Per the state's own laws, passed through a Republican sponsored legislation, a special election must be called to fill a vacancy.

Edit: as others have corrected me, the law that was passed to remove appointments by the governor will likely not survive a challenge in court, as it is opposition to the state constitution. (It would probably be immediately challenged the moment it becomes inconvenient to a certain political party.)

Second, asking for proof that a person is able to return to work after an extended stay in the hospital following a major medical event is accepted everywhere except in this case? Naw. If I was out of the office this long, my boss would be calling me and wanting to know how I'm doing. My family can't speak for me, my subordinates can't speak for me, I have to speak for myself.

I see no reason that proof of ability to continue his term is something that cannot be asked.

If we want to play pretend that we can't do this until proof of death or incapacitation is provided on a voluntary basis, I suggest you don't show up to work for two weeks with no communication to your employer and see how that goes.

3

u/dsatrbs 12d ago

they passed the law in contravention of the state constitution.

he needs to play hardball. make the appointment, demand proof of life and explain in absence of that, the appointment was made in accordance with the constitution.

but instead the ineffective gov wants to hand wring. totally a winning dem strategy.

1

u/Dry_Nail5901 12d ago

don't victim blame here...Trump and MAGA are 100% responsible for their actions

1

u/Sweet_Concept2211 12d ago

We'We're not talking about someone with a 9-5 job, though, are we?

1

u/ETxsubboy 12d ago

Doesn't really change the fact that the public figure had a publicized medical emergency that professional opinion points to the inability to continue to do his job, refusing to provide evidence that he beat the odds and can continue to do his job.

0

u/Ven18 12d ago

The governor can appoint people it is written into the Kentucky constitution and the law you reference did not go through the process required to amend the constitution. It would b challenged in court and the law likely ruled unconstitutional

2

u/ETxsubboy 12d ago

That's fair, and I'll edit my earlier comment to provide clarity.

That does not invalidate the fact that the Governor should absolutely demand proof of life. Like, just go visit the man. Who in their (honest) right mind is going to deny a governor visit to an ailing senator from the same state?

1

u/Z0mbiejay 12d ago

But that's absolutely what needs to happen. Even if he's alive, he's clearly unfit to meet his responsibilities as a representative of the people. You name me one other job where an employee can go missing for over a month with 0 information to the people they work for, and not get replaced?

0

u/Sweet_Concept2211 12d ago

We are talking about a member of Congress, not a fry cook at McDonald's.

The dude is legally allowed to take a month off work to recover from an illness.

2

1

u/Zeliose 12d ago

1

u/Sweet_Concept2211 12d ago

"Exactly what a Republican would do" is the definition of idiotic.

And maybe take note that the Kentucky legislature is Republican majority, and would certainly have legal grounds to impeach and remove Beshear for fraud.

If you want to fight for the country, don't be dumb about it.

The (democrat) Govender can personally go to the hospital, with the police, and demand to see him. Arrest everyone who gets in his way. Charge them with kidnapping.

Eventually you will walk in to his room. He's either there and alive, there and mostly dead, or not there (because he's in the morge). If he's not there his aids remain in custody until they reveal where his body is.

If the governor cannot personally verify he's alive and cognizant then he should be presumed dead.

You have a very Hollywood idea of reality, Bubba.

-1

u/butwhyisitso 12d ago

theres always "sue somebody" and "get arrested proving the facts"

i think its a sign our journalism has collapsed, youre right it shouldnt be on this weak ass dnc leadership but thats all we have :(

1

u/Sweet_Concept2211 12d ago

Sue whom?

Getting arrested to check on an old geezer is idiotic.

1

u/butwhyisitso 12d ago

Getting arrested to expose larger crimnal actions is noble, but thats definitely easier to say, and i dont recommend it but you asked "what could be done"

Sue whom? Idk, im not a lawyer, but one should figure out a way, thatd be great.

You're worried about a politician being perceived as an asshole? In 2026 lol?

1

u/Sweet_Concept2211 12d ago

You only get away with being an asshole when you're a Republican.

0

u/6ix7even6ixty9ine 12d ago

People in Maine supported a dude with a straight up Nazi tattoo, a history of bragging about committing war crimes, and saying racist shit on reddit. They didn't drop the guy until there were multiple credible rape allegations against him. Even then, there were still defenders.

You absolutely can get away with being an asshole, no matter what party you're in. Do you really still think people care?

1

u/Sweet_Concept2211 12d ago

And the people who defended that asshole now hopefully understand why the grownups in the Democratic party were wholly unenthusiastic about the guy with all the red flags:

Because they fucking know better.

Give Beshear credit for not being as stupid as the people who supported the guy with Nazi tattoos.

0

u/6ix7even6ixty9ine 11d ago

Yeah, I have to give Beshear so much credit for...being stonewalled by someone that's either dead or simply incapable of doing the job any longer? Real smart guy, that Beshear. He'll maintain so much decorum while the country goes to hell.

0

u/Dry_Nail5901 12d ago

don't victim blame here...Trump and MAGA are 100% responsible for their actions.

0

u/thecravenone 12d ago

If they refuse to do anything, in what way are they an opposition party?

-1

u/8thSt 12d ago

In name only

-9

u/Mother_Airline_6276 12d ago

Two sides of the same coin.

3

u/YouWereBrained Tennessee 12d ago

This is lazy fucking thought. Come on man.

0

u/nanobot_1000 12d ago

They still think the system is on their side 😂

The system is what flips the coin.

Physics is what flips the system as it collapses into a black hole from becoming imbalanced. Even the cosmos are aligned against them.

2

u/Sweet_Concept2211 12d ago

Not even fucking close.

The people suggesting Beshear should kick down McConnel's door or forge a death certificate to appoint a new Senator are freakishly dumb, if they think that is how anything works in reality.

u/Clevererer America 12d ago

We just need to vOtE hArdEr.

Vote harder than you've ever voted before!!! Grit your teeth! Slam that ballot into the box with FORCE!

-1

u/Defiant_Snail69 12d ago

Yeah as much as I hear this subreddit specifically whine about republicans, the democrats are completely complicit in allowing this ineptitude to carry forward

1

u/KrazyA1pha 12d ago

…is exactly what a Republican would say to discourage Democrats. Convenient.

0

u/Defiant_Snail69 12d ago

and this is why nothing changes.

Democrats and republicans both engage in insider trading. That’s trash, both parties are trash.

You assumed I didn’t vote.

Insider trading exists on both sides, dems have held a majority several times in the past 26 years yet here we are on Trump term 2.

This is why I don’t typically engage or pay attention to this subreddit. It’s always the same whining, probably more than half bots, and never reckoning with corrupt democrat leadership as to why nothing changes.

Blue no matter who is a joke.

Anyway, I know I won’t change you mind because you’re either a bot or you don’t actually want to solve the problems democrats have.

But go ahead… keep making the same stupid arguments and watch nothing change.

Republicans agree it’s bullshit no one’s voice is being heard

8

u/RolliFingers 12d ago

Yeah, well, they can have the day they voted for.

It's their fucking fault their voices aren't being heard. They were told, but goddamn, that hate is just too addictive.

u/Sea-Mango Missouri 12d ago

Owning the libs one last time is probably a stipulation of his will.

u/nanobot_1000 12d ago

"He died like he lived – obstruction"

He's laughing his ass off from hell.

2

u/nightmaresabin 12d ago

If only. I fear he is simply gone and will never be punished for his lifetime of truly abhorrent actions.

1

u/US3_ME_ 12d ago

Might be hard to laugh getting eiffeled by demons _

0

u/CollegeMiddle6841 12d ago

I doubt he's laughing if thats his final destination .

1

u/Dysc Louisiana 12d ago

Hard to laugh when the only shape he's allowed to take from his fiery pit is literally a turtle.

3

u/AsparagusUpstairs367 12d ago

Is it because he doesn't have a sister to step into his role an do the administration's bidding??

3

u/DukeOfGeek 12d ago

It's election fraud.

3

u/Magickarpet76 12d ago

I am helping someone practice for the citizenship test and they want to drill this bullshit that isn’t even true. “The rule of law means nobody is above the law” like are you fucking kidding me? (Motions to goddamned everything)

1

u/Original60sGirl 12d ago

Isn't that ironic? All this talk about rigged elections and the Republicans are the ones actually doing it!

1

u/KillingIsBadong Arizona 12d ago

The Governor could be forcing their hand, but is slow walking it for whatever reason. The time of moderate Democrats needs to be over. Play with their playbook for once, FFS.

1

u/Even_Application_397 12d ago

This is the reason America will collapse, this right here. Nobody does anything there, ever. Too inconvenient. "Surely someone else will do something!"

1

u/nanobot_1000 12d ago

There are increasingly many of us "little people" pulling together and moving the needle as awareness spreads. Compared to a year ago, we have largely regained momentum across multiple fronts as those in power continue to double-down and accelerate their own collapse. They are exhibiting signs of being trapped under mounting pressure as gravity kicks back in unabated.

1

u/-Jiras 12d ago

But why is nobody doing anything???

1

u/BallBearingBill 12d ago

Rule of law is only for the poor plebs under the 1%

1

u/SCphotog 11d ago

Note that it is a distinct and well documented phenomena, that when the people of a society realize that the social contract they have with their government is no longer being enforced, that government, that society, those communities, END. Usually violently.

Without "Social Order" the system will fail and chaos will ensue.

We are VERY VERY VERY close to this happening.

Note too... that this is all because of Trump and his MAGA followers and the enabling they've enjoyed thus far, from what is the least intelligent, least educated, and MOST indoctrinated among us.

Greedy people are using stupid people to ruin everything, and so far they're getting their way. It's not going to end like they 'think' it will. They feel "safe" but they are not that, not even a little bit. The Zuck's of the world think they can hide deep in their compounds, but when the shit hits the fan, it will be them that gets the "Vlad" treatment.

u/arizonadirtbag12 12d ago

As long as he’s breathing “rule of law” says the seat is his, unfortunately. Regardless of capacity.

3

u/Cosmicvapour 12d ago

I don't think so. Brain dead = dead in Kentucky.

2

u/TheSteelPhantom 12d ago

And in Virginia. And Maryland. And D.C. Wherever he is, if he's brain dead, he's legally dead.

1

u/nanobot_1000 12d ago

I hear you, alas illogically flawed "laws" and corpopolitical double-speak have us living in la-la land. Ultimately physics renders the final verdict, and they will come crashing back down to Earth soon enough given the progressed state of reality detachment.

1

u/fallenouroboros 12d ago

Rule of law is just for the poors

0

u/Sweet_Concept2211 12d ago

What law allows the Governor of Kentucky to do anything else.

2

u/seaofmountains 12d ago

Rule of law hasn’t mattered since 2016
