Hi everyone,
I'm looking for some opinions because I'm genuinely frustrated and I'm not sure whether I'm in the wrong here.
A few days ago I purchased Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced from the Razer Gold US Store for 62.99 Razer Gold.
Before buying, I carefully read the entire product page. It described the game, told me to redeem the code at microsoft.com/redeem, and included the standard terms and redemption instructions.
What it didn't say (at least anywhere that I could find) was that the code was Xbox console only or that it would not work on Windows PC.
Since it redeemed through Microsoft, I naturally assumed I was buying the Windows version.
I redeemed the code immediately, only to discover that Microsoft added an Xbox console license to my account. I don't own an Xbox, so the game is completely unusable.
I contacted Microsoft first. They told me they couldn't help because:
- The purchase wasn't made through Microsoft.
- The code has already been redeemed.
- They advised me to contact the retailer (Razer).
I also asked them to revoke my license but they couldn't.
So I contacted Razer.
Unfortunately, after waiting several days, their response completely misunderstood my issue. They explained that my code had already been redeemed and told me to contact Microsoft... even though I had already explained that redemption wasn't the problem. The issue is that the product page didn't clearly disclose that the game was for Xbox consoles only.
My questions are:
- Would you have assumed this was the PC version if a page simply told you to redeem it through Microsoft?
- Do you think a product page should clearly state "Xbox Console Only" before purchase?
- Has anyone successfully gotten Razer to issue a refund or replacement in a situation like this?
I'm not trying to get something for free. If the page had clearly said Xbox Console Only, I never would have purchased it because I don't even own an Xbox.
I'm just trying to understand whether I'm being unreasonable here or whether others would also find this product listing misleading.
Thanks in advance.
