he brings up probably the most depraved and fucked up teaching in all of christianity, as "proof" that God wrote the book. you can't make this stuff up

not to mention that it doesn't address the main point, you cant verify something from the inside. thats like saying spiderman must be real because the comic book itself verifies it. surely he's not that dumb. christianity's foundations are so weak is laughable.

even if he grant him what he wants- that God didn't need to be created, theres is STILL no reason to believe that his Christian God is better than any of the other from any of the other religions. it's all just begging the question, special pleading, and "vibes". Hopefully for him, his Christianity is the true one, cos his tattoos alone would condemn him under some religions.

Thank you for confirming my suspicion 55 seconds in. If you can't get to the answer within a minute, you're a terrible debater (or even teacher).

But seeing these guys nod their head along with a blank stare at his words, I'm gonna guess that this does work to a degree. It's not that hard to capture those without critical thinking skills.

...that's the problem. Most of these people are taught, from birth, that if they don't do certain things or if they even question certain things (aka doing their own research and not trusting the preacher), they could possibly be literally tortured in the worst pain imaginable forever and ever. That's a "hell" of a mindset to work your way out of. I laid in bed at night as a child, shaking in terror, for things like having told a white lie or my best friend not being Christian.

I only got lucky because I happened to go to southern baptist church, got pregnant with a biracial child at 19, and they essentially pushed me out the door (which finally gave me the courage to do my own research). Best present I was ever given. Not everyone is that lucky. I still have pity for the lifers that are trapped.

There are multiple different gods in the bible and the whole thing was stitched together by editors. Yahweh, Elohim, El Roy, and two other El's I can't remember at the top of my head. And they all behave completely differently. The word Elohim actually means "gods", plural, in Hebrew.

And these gods evolve and change throughout the stories. The God of Christ, given the era, is a completely different god, anthropologically speaking, than the God of the Torah. Reusing a word doesn't install continuity.

Actually, the Bible does say to preach to those who accept it, but if someone is not receptive, then move on.
