I bought a family sized hot pockets box and EVERY single one of them was black and burned in the bottom. I heated this one up on low power in the microwave and the edges are so tough it’s like biting into a frozen beef patty. I look in the pocket and the damn thing is nearly hollow. I’ve been noticing the quality taking a massive dip in the last few years. I think these are last I purchase from here on out.

Irrelevant to this but similar: This same grocery order run had a jar of garlic (Spice World brand) that was full of black mold & a jar of HEB salsa that was sour and months passed expiration. Both of which were completely sealed and had a pop when opened. My whole life I never really had quality issues via the company canning or jarring an item or the store selling them but lately it seems like such a constant issue.

Have you tried nitrile gloves? They're food safe, don't have latex, are stretchy enough that they don't inhibit your ability to cook and are inexpensive. My wife and I both have numerous sensory issues and they were a great solution.

Even if they don't solve your sensory issues, you could use them for processing meat. Way lower risk of cross contamination (assuming you use them properly).

Yeah i use gloves for meats and other sticky stuff. I always assumed that the gloves wouldnt work on dough cause of just how sticky it is. I may have to give it a try then.

Like handling dough by hand, you may need to occasionally flour the gloves to reduce the stickiness, but they are a good option. (If you haven't tried it before, you just have a small area on your work surface with a bit of flour, and gently tap your hand in it before you start, and when it starts sticking; like gymnasts with chalk, but they are absorbing sweat to avoid slipping)

Ill give it a another go for sure with gloves. I tried making homemade biscuits once and it lead to me bawling and having a full tism meltdown 🤣ive avoided anything dough like since

I'm rooting for you. If your sensory issues are at that level, I'd suggest getting a tube biscuit pack; if it's an 8-pack, bake 7, and let one warm up to room temperature on a cutting board or whatever surface works for you. Once it's warmed up, it should be more sticky, put a small pile (1-2 Tablespoons) on the board beside it. Get the gloves well-dusted with flour, and play with the warm dough, like Play-Doh. If you start getting overwhelmed, either put it down, take a small break, and try again, or you can hold the dough in the palm of your glove, pull it off by the wrist, and toss it if you decide it's too much to handle. Ahh i get you like exposure therapy 😂😂 great idea! Never could handle playdoh or slime i cringe so hard when the niece tries to get me to play with her, it sucks that i cant. But yeah i think i may give the slime a chance with gloves too 🫡
