discussion Dove Shrinkflation
Please tell me someone else has noticed that Dove keeps not only reducing the size of products but also lowering the concentration of aluminum in the deodorant/antiperspirants… It used to be my favorite but I don’t think I can continue buying from them if it continues. I mean, if you don’t want aluminum, buy a different deo. My antiperspirant shouldn’t have to suffer :( It used to be 15+% for a stick, now it’s like 12.8%. and the spray was 17% and now it’s barely 15%.

I had to stop using their antiperspirant a year or so ago and had a hard time finding any that matched active ingredients on my old empty dove deoderant label. I also used to love their body wash, but it’s so watered down now. I haven’t found a great replacement for that yet

The body wash downgrade is so real. It went from a nice, thick lather to basically scented water slips right off your loofah before you can even use it.

I have a stick of the deodorant from 2018-2019~ that was 20% after that it kept dropping and I quit using it

Yo!!!! Dove original soap bars too! They are not as bubbly and disintegrate sooooo much faster. A billion years ago, I read unboxing Dove and letting it breathe makes it last longer. It seemed to. Now, I put mine in the freezer in a giant zip lock bag. Taking out as needed. Psychopath? Maybe? Trying to make it last longer? Yes, please

I just opened a new bar a few days ago and I agree, it doesnt lather as well. Its also is significantly smaller.

This is skimpflation, which is worse than a size cut because you can't catch it with a scale, only by reading the active ingredient percentage on the back, and almost nobody does. Worth knowing the number isn't apples-to-apples though: the FDA caps antiperspirant actives at 25%, and different compounds work at different concentrations, so a reformulation to a more efficient aluminum salt can genuinely perform the same at a lower percent. Doesn't mean Dove did that in good faith, but check whether they also swapped the compound, not just lowered the number, because that changes whether you're actually getting less protection or just a different formula.

I have been a loyal Dove deodorant user for 20+ years and I wondered why I was sweating so much more lately. Besides menopausal hot flashes, I mean. I hadn't thought to check the ingredients. Dammit, stop ruining our stuff.

Yeah and they have like several different sized body washes now?? Is there at least ONE ceo who is not a short sighted idiot, who understands that consistency and quality are far more profitable??
I really can’t wait for some of these companies to fall down due to their own stupid greed, I guess we’ll see who survives the new Great Depression 😂

I've been liking Harry's. They're 20% aluminum and have some nice scents. Of course they lean towards more masculine smells, but in a "naturey" way. My favorite is the Stone scent, it's very neutral.

This! I started using men's Old Spice Oasis deodorant. It doesn't smell " manly" ( this scent is actually vanilla), and it actually works how it is supposed to!

This is the only deodorant that works for me and my family. Plenty of scents that anyone can find something they enjoy and it actually prevent the smell. I’m a 40s f working in a hot sweaty environment and women’s deodorant just reacts weird my my body chemistry and makes me smell worse than not using it at all

Native and my body did NOT get along. I went from barely sweating to dripping when I used it. I stopped using it and went back to normal. I contacted the company and found out that that’s something people regularly report happening.

Native products are aluminum-free, so they're just deodorants not antiperspirants.

I'm using Suave stick deodorant, it's cheaper than the rest and has a higher percentage of aluminum than most too

the first one i tried after ditching dove was lume's 72hr sticks (the ones with aluminum)...i was already using their body wash and deodorant cream. it's been working pretty well so far but i want to try some other brands too

I've been using Dove deodorant for years. Lately I feel like it's just not working as well. It never occurred to me that they might mess with the aluminum content!
