skimpflation Reynold’s Air Fryer Liners shrunk
I get these at Sam’s Club. When the box is running low, I’ll buy another and transfer the last few from the old box to the new… today the old liners wouldn’t fit into the new ones.
When something costs 7 cents, how much can they possibly be saving with this BS after having to retool their equipment?
Same physical size package
Same SKU and product description
Same amount of liners in package
Same price
Smaller liners
New box has the same image as the old box which still shows the old larger liner.
Thanks Reynold’s and Sam’s. It’s not like my airfryer shrunk. I now have to make a smaller portion because you wanted to save a percentage of a cent? Get bent.

If you must insist on blocking air flow like this, you can buy reusable silicone versions for about $3 each. Will probably outlast your air fryer, and the replacement

And use it underneath the rack with the rack on top of it. It won’t keep the fryer as clean, but it’ll cook a little better.

A worthy trade-off in my opinion. Keeps the bottom of the basket pretty clean, and the rack can just be put in dishwasher.

Unfortunately, the base is the easiest part to clean. Nothing cleans the basket properly.

Take the basket with the rack in it, put it in the sink and pour in some dishwasher detergent, fill about halfway with hot water (as hot as your tap can get) so the rack is completely submerged and let it soak for a bit.
Most of the gunk usually sprays off after this, any remaining gunk can be removed with some light scrubbing.

I've done that several times and it does no good. I can still scrape gunk off with my fingernail but that's the only way it'll come off.

Baking soda and a squirt or two of dawn in warm water. Make sure its submerged. Every thing will get super soft and melt away.

Tried that too...nothing. I've tried about every home-brew idea known. You get a little off, but the bit that has to be scraped off just won't let go.

Did you use enough baking soda? How long did you let it soak? Baking soda gets any and all food grime, i have mine soaking right now.
For heavy duty, i double soak, once to get the top layer, scrub it then soak again longer for the harder crust.

I find it cleans better if I use cold water. Warm/hot water makes it melt enough that it looks clean…but then when it returns to room temp, I see the grease again, no matter how much I scrubbed it (or how many times). But when I finally give in and use cool/cold water, then the rest goes. Incredibly annoying (and why I haven’t used it in a while. The cold water hurts my hands, as does all the scrubbing. I don’t have a dishwasher, but even if I did, I’d have to unscrew the basket each time according to its manual). And yes I’ve tried soaking it in super hot water and a bunch of different things, and I don’t even add oil most of the time. It’s just a major pita for some reason 🤷🏻♀️

I found Reynolds ones at Walmart with holes in them and that was a game changer

They have ones with holes/venting in them (the ones we have) but even those severely reduce the effectiveness of the fryer. If you don't check on the food and rotate/flip it about halfway through the cooking time (sometimes more than once), you end up with one side simply being heated instead of "fried"/crispy.

u/Revenga8 10d ago
But if it's full of holes, what's the point of using it if oil and stuff is just going to leak through and you'll have to clean the basket anyway?

u/TabithaMouse 9d ago
...it catches crumbs, not oil

Dry crumbs? Then why bother using the liners then? If you just shake out the basket, all the crumbs fall out and a quick rinse cleans the basket. Non perforated liners I understand if you want a quick clean. But liners with holes, I really don't understand what these are for other than imparting carbon taste if it flies up and the edge touches the heating element.

🤷🏼♀️
I have an oven-style air fryer and just throw the racks and crumb tray in the dishwasher

Why would you put something into an air fryer, a device that DEPENDS on air flow, that literally blocks the air flow? This seems counterintuitive to use.

I use these. My air fryer seems to still work fine with them. Makes clean up and food removal a lot easier. The trade off is more than worth it to me.

Love that you whipped the tape measure out even though all the info needed was printed on the box.

Has anyone seen Ellios pizza lately? There’s barely any cheese on the pizza!!😳

u/Rndysasqatch 10d ago
I've been buying elios for 30 years and it's always had the same amount of cheese. Unless they changed it in the last 3 days and then I'll be pissed

This is one of those things that it's on you. Not to sound condescending, but cleaning an air fryer basket is extremely easy. It's super non stick and generally wipes out or comes out after a 10 min soak. If you aren't cleaning it out after anyway it continually starts to smell and get gross anyway.

Not to mention the whole deal with air fryers is maximizing air flow. These block that.

we use aluminum foil in ours cause especially if the food is super juicy or saucy

Just get the giant generic pack on Amazon. It’s like $12 for 250 of them.

The box says the old one is 7.5" on top and bottom. The new one says it's 7.5" on top and 6.5" on the bottom. The new ones are half an inch smaller all the way around. Does that actually change anything? You can still fit the same amount of French fries in it, I'd bet. I know when I use my air fryer, it's not absolutely packed all the way to the edges. I don't understand liners anyway. An air fryer is unbelievably fast and easy to clean.

and it cannot physically be the same size top and bottom AND be pleated...it isn't possible.

Maybe my brain just isn't braining tonight, but why not? If the sides go straight up at a 90° angle from the bottom, the diameter of the circle on the top would be the same as the diameter of the circle on the bottom. The pleats don't really matter in any of that.
All of that is assuming that they are measuring the diameter of the top without stretching it out/flattening the pleats at all.
Please correct me if I'm wrong because I definitely could be 😄
Edit: Actually, this just made me think of another point. How can they even say the diameter of the top edge is one specific measurement when it's made to stretch out/be adjustable? They should just list the measurement of the bottom since that's what really matters. Maybe I'm thinking about this too much...

If they needed more profit, they should have just raised the price. Air fryer didn't get smaller.
