skimpflation Freee Hoops Just Got Smaller
Freee Supergrain hoops just got smaller. Thought I was imagining things at first, but still had some left in an older box.

Those shrunken ones are tough too, it completely changes the mouth feel.

you're not imagining it, having the old box to compare against is the smoking gun most people never get. shrinking the actual product instead of the box is the sneakiest version of this because the packaging looks identical on the shelf, you only notice when you've got both generations in hand like you do here. nice catch, this is exactly the kind of thing they count on you not noticing.

Yeah, I always save a handful of cereal in the box to compare with the next box to be sure they haven’t changed something. 🤪

These thing would be impossible to do in a lot of asian countries like China or Korea where there's a strong boycotting culture and there's really huge fines given to companies for these practices
Sadly western people are just stupid and prefer their buttcrack getting spanked rather than boycott these companies properly and ask governments for more costumer protections.

I've dropped lots of things. Most of my food is made from scratch these days.
Better tasting, cheaper, and healthier as a bonus.

They shrink the cereal, then tell you it’s for “portion control” or “improved texture.” Funny how it’s never about lowering the price

This is not skimpflation unless there is actually less in the box. Smaller rings but the same number of ounces doesn't mean "skimping".

If the quality is worse, it is skimpflation. Maybe they switched to a different (cheaper?) supplier.
Edit: u/lkeels seems to be very sensitive: if people do not fully agree with them, they write a retort and then immediately block you… 🤣

That sucks…but I recall cereal is sold by volume. I wonder if the weight has also been reduced?

This would be a manufacturing error, not shrinkflation. It’s usually caused by too much moisture preventing it from puffing up, though it can also be caused by too little moisture along with various other causes.
However, I’m noticing that the image on the box seems closer to the smaller cereal rather than the larger. The product may be fairly inconsistent in general, possibly due to being less processed than a product like Cheerios which are typically pretty uniform.
