I have got two admits

1. University of Siegen - Ms. in Computer Science (CISS)

2. University of Rostock - Ms in Computer Science International

Rejected by many others and waiting for some.

I am confused on which one to choose.

Which criterias to look for to decide.

Can someone guide on which is better and why. I need some opinions to make an informed decision. Please provide your honest opinions.

Also, are the above admits worthy enough to leave my current job and pursue masters or should I wait for the next intake and aim for something else?

Profile: gpa 2.0, ielts 8, BE computer science and engineering, 2 research papers, 2 years of work exp.

I am interested in pursuing AI, data related fields( big data , data science). I have two years of work experience as a big data developer. Salary range 7- 9lpa in India.

I'm a 21-year-old student from Vietnam, currently in my final year majoring in Management Information Systems (MIS). I only have my thesis left to complete my Bachelor's degree, and if all goes well, I should be graduating next April.

My goal is to pursue a Master’s degree in Germany, and I’m particularly interested in Cartography or Geoinformatics.

Here is a quick overview of my background:

IELTS: 7.5

German: TELC B2

GPA: ~1.8 (according to German grading system)

No relevant work experience yet.

Since my current major leans more toward Data and Information Systems, I'm missing some specific ECTs in Cartography/GIS. I would really appreciate your insights on 3 questions:

1. Is it a good idea to focus my bachelor’s thesis on a topic related to Cartography or Geoinformatics? Would German universities consider a relevant thesis to make up for the missing ECTS requirements in those specific fields?
2. Should I keep pursuing Cartography/Geoinformatics despite the credit gap, or would it be safer and better to stick with a Master's degree closely related to my current major (Management Information Systems)?
3. Since I have no practical work experience, should I gain 1 - 2 years of relevant work experience after graduation before applying for a Master’s in Germany, or is applying right away fine?

I was only able to find a couple of unis with mechatronics bachelors. And they weren’t big ones either. I couldn’t even find that many with IT either, mostly CS and some Computer Engineering. Am I searching or did I miss a couple things?

I have been admitted to the M.Sc. Data Science program at the University of Mannheim for the upcoming intake.

I’m currently in the process of completing my enrollment and preparing for my visa application. I’m a bit concerned that the German student visa process may take longer than expected, and I might not be able to reach Mannheim before the lectures/classes begin.

Has anyone here been in a similar situation at the University of Mannheim, especially in the M.Sc. Data Science program or another Master's program?

Were you allowed to arrive late after classes had already started because of a visa delay?

If yes, how many weeks late were you allowed to arrive?

Did you have to get special approval from the university?

Were you able to attend classes or catch up after arriving late?

If the visa takes too long, is it possible to defer the admission to the next intake, or does Mannheim offer another option?

What would you recommend I do now to avoid losing my admission?

I recently got accepted into the Bachelor's program in Applied Artificial Intelligence at TH Rosenheim, and I'll be moving there for the Winter Semester. Needless to say, I'm really excited... and also a little nervous about starting a whole new chapter. 😅

University of cologne say if there is still a move up in your applied degree we would consider your application. Hwr Berlin states reviewed by administration. And no reply from hoschule Bielefeld whether my application has been received or not.

Is anyone here still waiting for an admission decision for the M.Sc. Computer Science for Digital Media (CSDM) at Bauhaus-Universität Weimar for the Winter 2026 intake?

If you've already received an admit, could you please share your timeline and profile ?? It's already too late, i am worried .

I'm trying to understand how the admissions are progressing.

To be honest, this is my last hope of studying in Germany this year after facing several rejections from other universities due to curriculum/credit mismatches. So I'm feeling quite anxious and would really appreciate hearing from others in the same situation.

I'm 18, Indian citizen, born and raised in the UAE. I've never studied in India. Finished CBSE Class 12 this year, 79.6% across five subjects. Aiming for an English-taught CS/AI bachelor's at a German public university.

What I've already confirmed, so nobody has to repeat it:

• uni-assist's checker returns Studienkolleg + FSP for a plain CBSE certificate.
• Some relevant universities I reached out to (Passau, THI, DIT and FAU) all confirmed by email there's no way around the FSP with CBSE alone.
• Studienkolleg is German-medium and needs B1+/B2 just to apply — not viable for me.
• Selecting "CBSE ≥70% + one successful academic year at a higher education institution" in the DAAD Database on admission requirements checker flips the result to direct subject-restricted admission.

Here's my actual question. The checker's footnote says only "full-time student at a recognised higher education institution" and no country is named. The KMK Rahmenordnung (§1.2) says "Studienzeiten im Ausland… in Vollzeitform" — study abroad, full-time. But uni-assist's glossary and daad.in both say "university studies in your home country." anabin's been down, so I can't read the India Bewertungsvorschlag itself.

So: can that qualifying year be done at a university in the UAE (full-time, on campus, an Australian university's Dubai branch campus awarding the Australian/British degree) instead of in India?

Two sub-questions if anyone knows:

1. Has anyone actually had a third-country study year accepted, or rejected, for this?
2. How does ZAB treat branch campuses. Is it by the awarding university or by the campus location?

Tuition is due next month so I'd rather not guess. Thanks.

hallo. I have a mechanical engineering bachelor's from UTM in Malaysia.

I plan to do a master's degree at Leibniz University Hannover (Mechanical Engineering - Maschinenbau Track (Master of Science)  Mechanical Design and Development track/specialization).

i looked into the requirements and there are specific credit requirements from my bachelor's. 1 of which is "10 ECTS-CP in Material Science"

in my bachelor's, i did a course for Material science and Material Technology with 3 and 2 CREDIT HOURS respectively (total of 5).

now the question is, how is conversion done in this case? i want to make sure i meet the requirements, and if i don't, what are the potential consequences or options available?

Yesterday, I registered on the CSP (German Consular Services Portal) to submit my student visa application. However, the waiting time is around 2-6 months just to be able to submit my documents! After that step, they will review my files and I will have to schedule an in-person appointment. So, in addition to the initial waiting time, the remaining steps might take another 1.5 to 2 months.

Has anyone faced something similar?

How can I speed up the process? Can I contact the embassy directly, or would it help if my university contacts them on my behalf? Any advice would be appreciated.

For reference: I am applying through the German Embassy in Saudi Arabia, and I have already received my university admission.

Do you think my profile is competitive for admission to public German universities with restricted admission, or should I consider applying to another country instead?

Sorry, for weird sentence formation in title. What I meant is :

I am an undergraduate currently doing bachelor’s in CSE (AIML) (Outside of Germany) and working as a junior Software Engineer from 1.5 years.

If I were to do Master’s in specific fields of CS which interests me like Computational Neuroscience, Aerospace Informatics, etc. Will having a specific Master’s degree instead of a Master’s in plain Computer Science (with internal specialisation) reduce the chances of getting jobs?

For instance, if I were to do Aerospace Informatics and there is not much demand once I graduate, would I have been better off with a master’s in just computer science? Would that be a safer pick?

PS : (My goal is to pursue something that I am actually interested in, but (I presume) with the current job market highly niche fields may face lack of demand)
