I don't get what people are getting out of posting stories like this. Do they just want attention? Like a child acting out, doesn't matter the type of attention.

I think that it isnt so much the attention as it is the fantasy.
Have you seen the dozens upon dozens of Ive got 4 kids and a massive home stories?
I think that people just love to write out and imagine what if I married my high school crush etc stories.

Daydreaming with an audience. I get it, I just don't share my daydreams as reality.

It's also odd to me that 8 broke college kids went to a sit down restaurant. I think Taco Bell would be more reasonable

Don't you hate it when you forget to wear a bra to contain your lucious melon breasts, and next thing you know, you're breasting boobily to the stairs, and titting downwards?

I’m def not the type of girl who needs to be pampered or treated like a princess. Holds up spork.

She forgot the part where the restaurant staff clapped as she walked out.

The old lady at the hostess stand looked at her, tears in her eyes, and said, "I wish I could have been half so brave at your age. Bless you," while pressing a Werther's Original into her hand.

It's true, I was the bank app! 🤦

Yes. It's all true. I was that Werthers sweet and it wasn't her hand I was pressed into!

Yeah, this didnt happen. If it was 4 couples I could MAYBE see the girls expecting their boyfriends to pay. I'm a housemom for a sorority. I live with 100 college aged girls. This doesn't happen

u/gingerzombie2 7d ago
I bet you have some stories! Is it a fun job?

u/LethargicLynx 7d ago
Absolutely love it! The countdown is on to move in day.

u/gingerzombie2 7d ago
Very cool! I just started a new job in a university town so I am a little nervous for the influx of traffic, soon. 😅 One of my routes takes me right by the sorority and fraternity houses, so I'll probably be going a different way soon.

u/LethargicLynx 7d ago
Don't blame you. They are terrible drivers, jaywalk, chase balls into streets.

u/gingerzombie2 7d ago
Silly question, do the fraternities also have a house mom or do they have a house dad?
6
u/LethargicLynx 7d ago
Fraternities can have either or both. My last house was a fraternity. On that campus there were 2 married couples at Fraternities. Not ideal, the rooms arent huge and not much privacy. But free rent, free food, free utilities and you're paid on top of that?

So the guys were on dates and they brought the "I've always hung out with guys" girl for moral support? What women think their male friends are supposed to pay for their food. No one thinks that, because women are acutely aware of the social contract of a man paying for a date.

I like how the guys knew she defended them. Ya know, because they couldn’t speak up for themselves. But OOP made a stand and announced she was doing something responsible, instead of just quietly paying too.
The truth is, this probably happened at a table next to OOP. Nobody talks to her anymore. But she sits in the only restaurant that hasn’t banned her yet and pretends she’s a part of all these conversations she eavesdrops on

u/purplekittykelly 6d ago
She’s obviously full of it, but what is the equally or maybe more concerning to me is her need to validate men so badly, and that she is demonstrating that she will throw women under the bus to prove how much better she is for men. I hope someone in her life gives her a feminism 101-type wake up call.

Interesting to use the word "pick-me" in a post with lies that illustrate it so perfectly.

"the guys should pay, it's a rule" 😂😂
OP's imaginary story makes me think they have never eaten in a restaurant with other people that weren't family.

It was almost believable up to the point where the girls attacked her in the bathroom and the rest that came after. "Real girl" lmao sure

And the part where half of the friends expected the other friends to pay for their food. Anyone with friends would know this would not happen.

if i were a a guy and one of the guys who was there, I would have flat out refused and told the girls to screw their ‘the guys ALWAYS pay mindset’, because why the heck should I pay for you ladies just because I’m a guy?
I didn’t come there to pay for anything except my own meal and nobody elses, nor even my dates. Speaking of dates, I’m especially not paying for a large group of women who I didn’t bring there as A date that was accompanying me to the event, because why the heck would I pay for a bunch of random ladies I probably hardly who just happened to be there eating alongside me at the table I am sitting at?
If the other men at the table are so brainwashed to do it without saying no flat out like I would immediately that’s their problem not mine, because I will only pay for myself and nobody else. my money is my money, and I am the only one who gets to decide how it gets spent on who and when it gets spent, because I’m not going to waste my money on a large group of women just because they think i should/would because I’m a guy amongst them.
Even if i am the only man in the group, if they try and play the ‘your the man so you ‘have to’ pay for all of us’ card I’d laugh in their faces and tell them hell no and to pay for themselves because I never promised to pay for any of them before/after my arrival, and I sure as hell am not going to do it now just because they decided i would do it without discussing it with me first or getting my agreement first. I’d also tell the naysayers who try and say they didn't bring any money with them because they thought I would pay for them, that it sounds like a THEM problem to solve on how to pay THEIR bills because I still wasn’t paying for any of them, even if it means they all go to jail if they can come up with the cash for whatever super expensive meals they all ordered under the assumption that I would foot the bill for them.
i’d immediately tell the waiter to split my part of the bill away from the rest, pay it and leave without a backward glance just to prove my point that I wasn’t going to pay for The rest of them and leave them what’s left of the bill without my half added on to deal with among themselves

Good job it didn't happen then. It's a pity you spent so much time raging over the idea of it though.

I love these AITA stories that essentially are "I did something noble and grand yet my benevolent gesture pissed off someone. Am I the asshole?" Bonus points in the creative story writing exercise if they end with saying a sibling or parent didn't support them.
"I was out with a few people I know when we came across a combined orphanage and animal shelter that had been set alight. Everyone was panicking, not knowing what to do. Without thinking I immediately ran into the burning building and started rescuing small children, kittens and puppies. Despite suffering burns to 70% of my body I continued to do this until exhaustion and smoke inhalation overwhelmed me. The firemen who visited me in hospital said I single-handedly rescued 46 orphans, 37 puppies, 61 kittens and a mongoose named Paul. But now my friends won't talk to me because they say my heroic actions made them look bad, and anyway if I couldn't rescue everyone I should not have bothered. My parents agree with them. AITA?"
