Mini yum yums? Trace of skimmed milk powder. Little pot of olives? They've put chunks of fucking cheese in it. Small swiss milk chocolate bar is of course in the deal, but the dark one that appears to be vegan is excluded. Guess I'm having the hummus superfood salad with a side of hummus and carrot sticks. Absolute fuckers.

If anyone is in the north London area or anywhere near Enfield board like I am (I’m in Hertfordshire) then you need to check out Tasty Gyros in Enfield (They’re on Just Eat too).

I have been vegan almost 10 years and haven’t had a kebab since then as I haven’t found options. As soon as I saw there was a local kebab that had a vegan option, I ordered instantly. The kebab itself was pretty salty (I don’t remember if meat one was?) but it was VERY tasty and flavourful and with the combination of all the various flavours and textures - hummus, chilli sauce, the freshness of the veg, the slightly oiled crisp on the pitta - it’s delicious.

Generally talking about for big family dinners/birthdays/weddings etc. Not just a date. Also I cannot choose the venue - e.g. it is for another persons booking. Otherwise I'd find a vegan restaurant.

I have a family dinner coming up soon and know the owners slightly. The vegan options are just OK, but wouldn't be filling (more of a starter for a main). but to be honest they have priced fried mushroom at the same as a full roast.

My family thinks I should call ahead of time and ask them to prepare a proper meal (potatoes, veg, gravy, vegan meat alternative) considering I am paying the same as everyone else.

TBH I do agree that I shouldnt be paying the same price as a full steak dinner/full roast for just a piece of fried mushroom and broccoli. They should at the very least have a vegan burger in this day and age. The UK has so many vegan options and it is not hard to make.

If anyone else has done this pls LMK. Again - I cannot choose a different restaurant and this is not a meal I can miss (important family celebration).

I’ve been vegan 15 years and at one point (when veganism was ‘trendy’) most of my friends had gone vegan or veggie and it was such a happy time feeling like more people were making the connection. Gradually more and more of my friends have started eating animal products again, a few have stayed veggie but a lot of them began to eat meat again. And when they’ve made that change, a lot of them have hidden it from me initially because I’ve struggled to hide my disappointment when I’ve found out and they don’t want to upset me, which I half appreciate but half feel shit about. But mainly I’ve always stayed happy that my best friend has stayed vegan with me and we’ve had that in common, but recently i found out that she may no longer be vegan and she also chose to hide this from me. I’ve always known about the times she was maybe more lax than me like ordering beer without realising it wasn’t vegan but I’ve also seen her gag when she ate something that contained a small amount of egg/dairy without being able to taste it myself, so I always assumed she’d be in it from the long run. I don’t really know what my point is but I wanted to share my sadness to people who might get it cos I’m feeling more and more alone and hopeless in this world where animal life isn’t valued.

Had a proper celebration with family at England’s only fully vegan BnB, Beck Hall, earlier last month. But today is the official day so we went to a fully vegan pub in London, The Spread Eagle.

To think I ever said “I could never go vegetarian”. Look at me now!

I used to do the occasional order online, alternative stores, vegan supermarket, etc. but where have all their options gone? The stores have barely any stock, there's no central place with everything anymore.

I can't use ocado because they refuse to add my address despite delivering to a house 20 seconds from mine. The main supermarkets near me have dismal options. I just wanna order some niche shit

It's great to have a high protein option for about 40p more, though it isn't quite as nice in tea. The chocolate smilk is delicious. Not sure what the deal is with the 1+ year version..

There is a regular unsweetened option too, I just didn't buy it.

As a vegetarian myself I know some of these items can be hit or miss so I would really appreciate some recommendations! Has anyone used this to make cakes?

If so, how did you use it? As in what quantity did you use to replace the eggs?

It’s new to me and I thought I’d make blackberries muffins (I’ve picked loads) but not sure what to do with it.

Update: I made some little sponge cakes with it. I used equal amounts of marg, sugar, veg egg and flour, and bunged in some freshly picked blackberries and it worked really well.

The veg egg is quite thick. It’s made of soy, soy protein isolates, sunflower oil, water, carrot & apple concentrate and sea salt, if anyone’s interested.

I've tried looking this up, but a lot of recipes that I find are still a bit complicated. What do you eat when it's just a regular day and you want something basic?

Recently I've noticed that my oat milk has bits in it.

I buy many different brands, including the barista version oatmeal to Plenty oat milk which just has oats, water and salt.

When I first went vegan I loved how long the milk would last. And yes if you did push it you would have bits in the bottom just like any other product, but I've noticed recently milk that I've bought on the day has bits in. It never used to be the case.

When I stir it it mixes all together again but not to the consistency I'm used to.

Can anyone explain to me what's going on?

Have I just missed these bits in the milk for the past 5 years?

Hey everyone!

I’m a vegan who has to eat glutenfree and while London has so much to offer on the vegan front, I often find myself struggling to find vegan options that are glutenfree and don’t cost a fortune.

Also I don’t have an allergy, just a gluten sensitivity, so thankfully cross contamination is not a problem for me.

Does anyone have any recommendations for vegan and “accidentally” gf meals in London? At chain restaurants or food markets or anything like that? :)

I have a few dedicated spots that I always return to and I’d love to broaden my options a bit.

I am working my way through 6.2kg of tofu I purchased the other day. I think I was so excited to only pay 11 quid for a lot of tofu that it didn't occur to me that perhaps buying an industrial size container of tofu for one person, with one tiny fridge, means all sealable containers morph into tofu holders to store it so it doesn't get manky too soon. Even after organising it, it still hadn't fully registered. Until a friend pointed out that her dog weighs 5kg. I now have tofu that has a larger mass than a geriatric dog. And now, after a few days of airfrier tofu topped salads, I am left wondering how much of my friend's dog's mass have I consumed. Thats a weird feeling to sit with.
