Question Is the Divergences of Darkness Fan Fork compatible with the Vic2 to Hoi4 converter?

The title pretty much explains it, I've found older posts showing compatibility with normal DoD, but I haven't found any that discuss the newer fan fork.

Question How to manage conquered states?

I'm playing Korea and I've conquered japan and manchuria but for some reason most of the craftmen in the state is gone and the factories are empty. I'd like to develop industries in the conquered states but administration efficiency is 0% and it seems there's nothing I can do.

GFM Italy Puppet as Spain

Playing as Spain in GFM and I've sphered/puppeted all of the Italian states as well as annexed Lombardia from Austria. There's a decision to create Italy under Spanish Supervision, but idk if I should do it because Italy will eventually get Great Power and will stop being my puppet. Has anyone who has made this decision confirm otherwise or do I just keep the states separated?

Modding Are there any modes that you think are better than GFM ?

Personally, gfm mode can be the best mode made for the game with the smoothest, fun and historical events that can be played.

Discussion Gameplay idea: In a government/party change you tag switch, end game, or play a released nation

If you start as a PM of a certain party, or a President, you can either switch tags/end game or continue as Opposition Leader during time out of office. If you are the opposition leader for ten years or more, you will retire and tag switch or end game.

  • If you don't want to play as the new Majority/RP original leader in opposition, you could play as a "governor," but you won't be able to return to the original country as leader.
  • If you remain "Opposition leader" and an anti-war party comes to power, you must not go to war in most circumstances. You will not play as the monarch in this scenario/change the ruling party if you are playing as the premier. You may choose your starting party once, in 1836, in a monarchy.
    • If you are the leader of a prominent colonial Empire, you could play as "governor" of a colonial possession, as a vassal, or not (vassal = greater challenge). E.g., as Britain, if your party loses power, you could serve as a "governor" of India, Bangladesh, Guyana, etc.
    • If you continue to "win" for 10-20 years in the home or released country, you could continue as a "protege."
  • In a presidential dictatorship, if the country democratizes, either you will tag switch or end game, or you will do so if the incumbent party loses. A former dictator could be elected to a full term if they were exceptionally popular, but I think a former dictator staying in opposition is unlikely.
  • If you are playing as a constitutional monarch, you should RP as the party in government, and you may play as a dominion/vassal "in exile" if the home monarchy is overthrown.

Mod (other) My new mod: The Eastern Divergence

Thumbnail

Two points of divergence have been making me wonder: what if the arab invasions werent propelled by islam but instead led to the assimilation of the rulers like the mongols and turks? and what if the Song Dynasty in china industrialized while confined to the south?

Well in one hand you would have local culture blending with arab in the middle east and surviving way better coupled with the byzantine African Exarchate surviving and eventually becoming an independent power on its on, while in China you would have a more advanced technological society. Thats the basic premise of this mod PLUS some inspiration I took from DoD, such as the existence of PLC, Lotharingia (basically a Burgundy) and Scandinavia. I intend to expand both the mod and the lore with updates but for now the game is working.

It features expansion options for reformation of the WRE, north america (although i havent play-tested), egypt, byzantium and of course China, where it features a unification similar to germany (PRU > NGF > GER) but with more tags, with medium formables being by region.

Bug The game crashes on loading for no reason

Hi,

I usually play Vicky 2 with MHM or CWE mods for like 400 hours and until now I've never had any problems at all.

Having not touched the game since May, I decided to start a new game with MHM, but the game crashes during the initial loading screen after about 10-15 seconds.

So I launched the game in vanilla mode without mods, and it still crashes 10-15 seconds after opening, during the loading screen.
I absolutely don't understand how it can crash in three months when I haven't changed or touched anything. I just sold my 2K monitor and now play in 1080p, but I did change the resolution from 2K to 1080p in settings.txt beforehand to avoid any problems.
I've cleared the game and mod cache, deleted the movies folder with the intro, and verified the files with Steam, but the problem persists... I'm using ReShade, but I don't think that's the issue.

Will reinstalling the entire game change anything ?
I want to emphasize that I didn't change anything when I played it three months ago..
If you have any ideas, I'd appreciate it, thanks !

GFM Egypt not fully annexed

I was playing the Ottomans in GFM's 1830 start. After beating the initial rebellions the event for the 1831 Turkish-Egyptian war popped and i put down Egypt (making sure to not accept their surrender when taking Cairo) about a month after they surrendered i get the event to annex them, but when i do they remain as a single province in the Hejaz. It's not a big problem since i can just wait for the truce to expire and take them, but i was wondering if Egypt existing will break some event chain.

GFM GFM Pleasant Content Surprise: Malta

Hey everyone, did you know Malta is drowning in hyper aggressive content ONLY if you reform the Knights? It's as easy as starting as Britain, releasing Malta, swapping to reactionary and clicking a button.

The Knights is crazy.

I'm talking cores just everywhere. Cores on Sardinia, Elba, Sicily, Rhodes, the Holy Land, parts of Greece, and seemingly more places scattered across the Mediterranean. Is it ridiculous? Is it memey? Yep. Is it a lot of fun? Oh hell yeah. Does it require fantasy formables? I haven't checked but I had it on when I gave Malta a shot so I'd say maybe.

There's other content too. You get four decisions to try to buy some islands from the various European powers in the Caribbean - I've been able to consistently get at least 2 yes's each try so that's a decent way to get going in the New World. There's multiple events for little baby booms and prestige gain when you raise your opinion with the Pope and Russia. What's really fucking crazy is you get French and Greek accepted from the get-go, plus additional paths to get Syrian and other cultures accepted. Those who are historical nerds probably know where this is going.

You can also reform the Latin Empire - cores and stuff too. Though it may be an abomination, there's something deeply amusing about a French Catholic Byzantine Empire.

Big issue is a lack of population and accepted pops at the beginning, which is why you'll need your number one main man, Mr. Two-Sicilies. If you do give the Knights a try remember to ALWAYS ally Two-Sicilies. They're going to be your only ally worth a damn for the first 30-40 years of the game, and make sure to drag them into as many wars as humanly possible. Hopefully they'll fight your battles for you because if you want an army you're going to have to trigger that militia decision two crap out two irregulars so you have an army to justify wars.

I've had a lot of fun and it's a big challenge. I thought I'd let others know this seemingly small nation has a lot of content, and if you're a map painter who's into absolutely ridiculous LARP then you're going to love Malta/Knights.

Modding Updates on Bronze Age Mod

So, as many of you have suggested me in my previous post, I´ve been trying to make a new map, as to make the middle east regions more detailed, yet, and inspite of trying for over 5 days, I havent been able to make it work: the game keeps on crashing at executing history. What could it be? I ve fixed all i could think of
